Venom: Let There Be Carnage was supposed to be released on September 24, but a rise in COVID cases meant that Sony Pictures recently made the decision to push it back to October 14. Since then, there have been rumblings that the sequel could slip into next year, but we finally have some good news!
As you can see below, it's been confirmed that the Venom sequel will open on October 1. That's a whole two weeks earlier than we anticipated, and tickets for the movie go on sale this Wednesday.
We're a little surprised it's going to be available to watch in 3D (who knew that was still a thing?), but there will certainly be plenty of options when Venom: Let There Be Carnage arrives next month.
Considering Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings just opened to a record-breaking $90 million Labor Day haul, you have to believe that the success of that Marvel Studios movie has prompted Sony to get this title out there ASAP. It makes sense, too, because as the weather gets colder, there's likely going to be a spike in COVID cases even with vaccinations slowly on the rise.
"Tom Hardy returns to the big screen as the lethal protector Venom, one of Marvel's greatest and most complex characters," reads a brief synopsis that was released on the movie's newly launched website earlier this year. "Directed by Andy Serkis, the film also stars Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris and Woody Harrelson, in the role of the villain Cletus Kasady/Carnage."
Venom: Let There Be Carnage stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris, Reid Scott, Stephen Graham, and Woody Harrelson. It's set to be released in theaters on October 15 1, 2021.
