Whenever I think if MCU and Sony I think of Andrew Ryan and his hatred of the parasites.

Spidey debuted in Civil War 5 years ago. Not really that far back when you think about it. The possibilities were endless. Now, look where we are...

Not the version of Venom I’d like Spidey to meet, because to me Tom Hardy’s interpretation and design just feels way too different and off (even tho I do like it). But hey this was coming one way or another so I’m excited!

At least we’ll always have the somewhat accurate Eddie Brock from Raimi’s Spidey 3, even if the design wasn’t to everyone’s liking 😬 or the actor lol

"With these things that come in threes at the moment, and if they progress further, then it’s normally the initial blocking of the infrastructure or a set of franchise movies will be one, two, and three, and done."

Well, some sagas are in four movies now with the beginning, the middle part, the beginning of the end with the dramatic ascension to the final crisis and a HUGE cliffhanger, and the grand finale.

Spider-man is coming but will it be Tom? Will it even be a Peter Parker? Will this full circle and fix the current Venom design? Will it back track and add in his original origin in a back assword kind of way? Will this movie set up Venom as someone that Spider-man feels the need to take down? I have so many questions. This could turn out okay BUT so much could go wrong. Would have been better more traditional with a redemption arch that leads Venom to be an Avengers loose Canon.

@Manmarvel - Wouldn't it be interesting if it were Andrew's Spidey? I hope the leaks about the MCU ties are not true. If they are...

Bring on KNULL!!!
Urubrodi
Urubrodi - 9/16/2021, 6:54 AM
@Thing94 - I feel like that would require a team up. Venom alone wouldn't be able to stop Knull. Maybe having Toxin and Spider-man involved.

Why is everyone hating on Venom going head to head with Spider Man? I mean, this COULD end up good, no?
Urubrodi
Urubrodi - 9/16/2021, 5:30 AM
@WeAreDenim - Yeah, as long as you have Marvel Studios involved I personally don't see the problem. It could be pretty sick.

@WeAreDenim - People hate Sony. I think Sony is great gives us more movies to watch. Without Sony, Spider-Man Universe turns into another Fox X-Men Universe and disappears.

I think the problem is this interpretation of Venom, which isn’t rooted in his hate for Spidey. I mean in the comics Eddie and Venom weren’t out to rule the world or steal money, they were just consumed by their anger towards Spidey for ruining their lives in their eyes.
Hardy’s Eddie Brock just doesn’t have that intensity. So his fight with Spidey wouldn’t be as exciting because they’ve never actually met before.

@WeAreDenim - fully agree. It’s turned into hyperbole here.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS

Hey if this whole Venom BS is just a clunky way of making the character or a variant, the 6th villain JUST in No Way Home, that would be okay, I guess

But if that was his full introduction to stay in the MCU 😖🤮

SPOILERS

I don't think Venom, or Spider-man for that matter, will have a future in the MCU. Venom will likely return to its universe and Spider-man might end up in it too at the end of NWH.

I hope the kid has grown up enough this time to realize that a deeply troubled man and its serial-killer symbiot are definitely not good mentors (even if they target only criminals).

MrDandy - 9/16/2021, 7:03 AM
@Amuro - I doubt they would do that since Tom is still interested in more Spider-Man films with Marvel. More likely they will introduce the SUMC as an alternate universe that Peter will move in and out of.

@Amuro - "I hope the kid has grown up enough this time to realize that a deeply troubled man and its serial-killer symbiot are definitely not good mentors (even if they target only criminals)."

I mean that would be a step up from the mentors Tobey and Andrew had, that were criminals and murderers (of innocent people)

At least Tom's mentors were actual established heroes (or REALLY good at pretending to be a hero)

The entire scope moving forward is about lateral progress. The progress and growth of these characters can bloom latteraly. And also move forward latteraly.

Would rather Spidey get his own symbiote suit in the MCU movies and then his own more comic accurate version of Venom.

This multiverse concept for this phase is fun but it is also allowing Sony’s isolated bullshit to seep into the MCU.

As long as the movies are good then I see no objection is cross franchising characters, it just makes a bigger sandpit to play in. As I’m a little older than some of you my knowledge of the classic comic book version of Venom is a little lacking though. From reading most of the comments it seems quite a few fans don’t like it the latest movie version? Strangely whilst I normally rail against the humour that now infests the MCU I actually quite like the bickering between Eddie and Venom particularly the bits where he tells Venom he can eat people if he comes out to fight Carnage and where Eddie tells him he can’t eat the stop keeper.

Boy you are working for the WRONG studio if that’s your hope lol

I mean it COULD work. I think you’d have to have some kind of event where Venom is ripped off of Eddie and made inert to where his consciousness isn’t really there and he’s just kind of existing like a jellyfish and then it somehow attaches to Peter and then you just do the standard story from there. But let’s be honest it’s not going to be that way because they are just going to smash them together clumsily
