After years of mediocre content, the video game curse still remains a tough one to break. Interestingly, studios have begun developing game adaptations that veer from their source material.

For example, Assassin's Creed built upon the canon that was already established on platforms, while the Tom Holland led Uncharted film is aiming to tell a prequel to Naughty Dog's cinematic storytelling. Sonic the Hedgehog, the latest video game movie to hit production, will be using familiar characters and locations to craft an original story. Some have already been spotted on set.

Having started production only a week ago, the Sonic the Hedgehog film is already delving into nostalgia. Green Hill Zone, a name familiar to fans of the franchise, will be making its live action debut during the hybrid film. The location of Green Hills, which set the tone for Sonic as the game's first level, seems to be under the watch of Sheriff Tom Wachowski (James Marsden), the film's human lead.

A Cop that helps Sonic? What kind of foolishness......

Sonic shouldn't even be in a human world, one thing I hated about the Sonic Adventure games is when they put Sonic on an earth inhabited by humans.

Felt so wrong after the classic Spnic stories.

@Chaos200 - They have to do the obligatory joke with a traffic cop trying to stop him for speeding, though, right?

This site's reaction when someone tells them that Woody Woodpecker wasn't the first live action/animated hybrid, and they can actually be enjoyable.

@nightman - Space Jam and Roger Rabbit were self-aware movies in which the cartoons knew they were cartoons and they all shared that in-joke of knowing how ridiculous it was. Maybe if this Sonic movie was like that... no Sonic has better things to do than hold a movie together with the in-joke that he is a made-up character.
