Tom Holland's UNCHARTED Rappels Off Into 2022; GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE Pushed To November

Shortly after the bombshell No Time to Die news, Sony Pictures has moved Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway, and Cinderella to later in the year while Uncharted is heading to 2022.

Hot on the heels of MGM and EON moving No Time to Die to October, Sony Pictures has announced a number of delays of their own, essentially resetting the entire 2021 theatrical release calendar.

For 2021, Will Gluck's Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway is hopping from April to June 11, Kay Cannon's Cinderella is leaving February for July 16, and Jason Reitman's Ghostbusters: Afterlife departs June for November 11.

The biggest news, however, is that Ruben Fleischer's Uncharted, a live-action adaptation of the acclaimed game series of the same name, is leaving 2021 entirely and will now open in theaters worldwide on February 11, 2022.

Uncharted stars Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Far From Home; Avengers: Endgame) in the lead role as ace adventurer Nathan Drake with a supporting cast consisting of 2x Academy Award-nominee Mark Wahlberg (The Departed; The Fighter) as Sully Sullivan, Sophia Taylor Ali (Grey's AnatomyTruth or Dare) as Chloe Frazer, Tati Gabrielle (Chilling Adventures of SabrinaYou) as Braddock, and Academy Award-nominee Antonio Banderas (The Mask of ZorroDesperado) as the primary antagonist.

Filming wrapped last October, so the film is likely deep into post-production. No word yet on any potential reshoots, but the extended delay does leave the door open for some additional photography once Holland wraps Sony & Marvel Studios' Spider-Man 3.

While Sony has moved around the vast majority of their current slate, they haven't touched any of their upcoming Marvel properties, which include Andy Serkis' Venom: Let There Be Carnage (June 25), Daniel Espinosa's Morbius (October 8), and Jon Watts' aforementioned untitled Spider-Man threequel (December 17), although it seems probable that the former two could end up moving in the next few weeks as studios reassess the status of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
