VIDEO GAMES: STAR WARS: KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC Remake Reportedly In Development At EA

A new rumor suggests video game publisher Electronic Arts is working on a remake/re-imagining of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, the beloved role-playing game from 2003 developed by BioWare.

A remake of the classic BioWare role-playing game, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, could be on the way. Cinelinx (via IGN), Electronic Arts, who owns the exclusive publishing licensing rights for Star Wars games on consoles and PC, reports that the project is currently underway and refers to it as more of a re-imagining/sequel than an actual remake of the beloved 2003 game.

It sounds like both 2003's Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, from BioWare, and 2004's Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords, from Obsidian Entertainment, are both being incorporated into this re-imagining.

According to the source, the new game "would integrate elements from the first two games in order to bring certain things into the current Star Wars canon."

Back in April, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy was asked about Knights of the Old Republic and mentioned they are "developing something to look at." This was interpreted to mean some sort of movie or television series was in development, but perhaps she was referring to this game.

After a rought first couple of years, EA has seemingly found its footing with the Star Wars IP. Star Wars Battlefront II is now in a decent place and the publisher is coming off the release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Respawn Entertainment's single-player action-adventure that is both a critical and commercial success.
