Gal Gadot Teases The Different Values That Will Be Explored In The WONDER WOMAN Sequel

Following the doom and gloom the media's assiduously reporting at every chance about WB's Justice League, Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman looks to be the best franchise WB has going in the DC Films Universe.

As a sobering Monday finds Justice League opening to the tune of $280 million worldwide, many comic book fans are wondering what's next for the DC Films Universe? While that number includes a very disappointing domestic total, the overall figure bodes well considering a Variety report just 3 days old stated that the film would need to gross $600 million in order to break even. The Zack Snyder/Joss Whedon directed pic appears well on its way to eclipsing that mark though loftier goals, such as surpassing $1 billion appear far out of reach. Estimates currently predict a $650-$785 million box office finish for the superhero team-up- but this weekend's box office numbers will be the true telling sign of what the film will ultimately achieve.

Even in the best case scenario, the film will finish as the second lowest earner in the DCEU to date, after Man of Steel. So where will WB turn next? Many fans think the focus should be on Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, whose sequel is set to hit theaters on November 1, 2019. Appearing on The Today Show, Gadot teased exploring the many different values Wonder Woman has championed throughout her storied comic book history. "So many journeys she can experience. She has so many beautiful values. Each chapter is about different values of Wonder Woman. I think that could be really awesome. It’s like the Wonder Woman bible.”

WHAT, WHEN AND WHERE: WONDER WOMAN 2 RUMORED PLOT

Details on the plot of Wonder Woman 2 are understandably being kept under wraps at the moment. However, the prevailing rumor is one that originates from ScreenRant, who reports that the film will be set in the '80s and that Diana will find herself in the middle of the conflict between the Soviet Union and United States. None of this has been confirmed but the espionage and undercover tactics of the Cold War would structurally link up with Wonder Woman being "inactive" and out of the public eye between World War I and the events depicted in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

As for the villain in the sequel, Ezra Miller and Gadot were recently asked who they'd like their characters to tangle with next, following Steppenwolf. Miller named the Injustice League while Gadot named Cheetah. Incidentally, the end credits of Justice League saw Lex Luthor beginning to form his own "League" as he recruited Joe Manganiello's Deathstroke. Was Gadot also giving an on the nose hint about who Wonder Woman will be facing next?

@411IDSigo - Inflation is a misused term when used this way. Those movies earned what they earned and nothing more.

Inflation is money vs buying power. The extra money added to those movies totals was never in the studios bank accounts and therefore is completely irrelevant.

$1 is $1, whether its now or 50yrs ago.

If a person from 50yrs ago came to the present with a dollar bill in his pocket. Inflation has just weakened the buying power of his dollar.....but he still only has a dollar.

If a movie executive earns a $10 bonus in 1950, he can buy around 50 sodas.

This why accounting for inflation matters.

@Kevwebsz - Then Comic Book Movies are on their last legs. Marvel can't stay afloat on its own for much longer. If everything remains as tightly connected after Infinity War as it is right now, to where you have to have seen all previous Marvel movies to get into the newest one, people are just going to give up, and with DC gone, it won't be long before Marvel goes with it.

JL may be a critical and financial failure but with Wan’s Aquaman, Matt Reeves’ Batman, and Patty’s WW2 I think there is a lot to be excited for in the DCEU’s future.
