There's some disappointing DC TV news for fans of The CWVerse today as it's been confirmed that the network will not be moving forward with the Wonder Girl pilot we recently heard about. Check it out...

When it was revealed that The CW had started developing a Wonder Girl TV series, the news definitely came as a surprise to fans. After all, the character hadn't even made her comic book debut at that point, and actually showed up for the first time last month as part of DC Comics' Future State event.

However, there were still a lot of reasons to be excited for the show; for starters, it would have been the first series in The CWVerse headlined by a Latina actress, while the concept of Yara Flor taking over the Wonder Woman mantle from Diana Prince was an undeniably intriguing one.

Unfortunately, Wonder Girl is not moving forward at The CW.

Writer Dailyn Rodriguez (Queen of the South) has confirmed via Twitter that the network passed on the pilot. "So some sad news. For all of those asking, Wonder Girl is not getting picked up at the CW. I was very proud of the script I wrote. Wish I could’ve shared the world I created, but unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be. Thanks for everyone’s enthusiasm. It meant a lot to me."

We don't have any specific details on why Wonder Girl has been scrapped, but it doesn't sound like this iteration will be finding a home elsewhere. Is it possible that there are plans for the character in Wonder Woman 3? Who knows, but for now, Yara will sadly not be making her live-action debut.

That sucks. Would rather have this than Painkiller or Naomi (seriously doubt Naomi will happen, Painkiller has a chance because of its connection to Black Lightning)

I feel like she was just created, like five minutes ago.😂 She's a new spin-off character from Wonder Woman. She seems to be pretty popular, but her live-action debut can wait. There's no need to rush.

But the gritty live-action Powerpuff Girls sequel got picked up? CW execs make some wild decisions.

Honestly I think what they should do is make that Amazon’s show, let it feature the other wonder women from the comics, so Nubia, Donna Troy and Yara Flor. Let it be about fleshing out the Themiscyrans and then work in those other characters origins, then bring them into Wonder Woman 3.

Shame as a fan of the Arrowverse I was looking forward to them exploring the Themiscyra lore and maybe eventually introduce Diana herself so this a bummer but this was first reported a few days ago so by now I've accepted it by now.

Thank God.

Look, this character was created...like, yesterday.

For the love of Rao, at least give enough time to the creators to properly build the character, the lore etc... ffs.

Same for Naomi.

This version of Wonder Woman needs to be made for HBOMAX, have good writers and a decent cast.

CW is just a shit fest company, look at its shows.

Batwoman lower ratings than the first season but gets renewed for a third season.

@JohnnyTBP - I agree. I actually like the sound of this, but not if it went to the CW

@bkmeijer - facts. I think the CW is missing Arrow’s action. I hope Superman and Lois feels the void

@JohnnyTBP - same, for me no show has filled the void either. One of the reasons I stopped following the shows closely
