WONDER WOMAN Concept Art Reveals A Fiery New Take On Ares And The Movie's Epic Final Battle
New concept art for Wonder Woman has surfaced and it shows off the movie's big Ares twist and a very different take on Diana Prince's battle with the villain as he undergoes a fiery transformation...
While it had been rumoured months beforehand, the moment in Wonder Woman where we learn that David Thewlis' character is actually Ares still came as quite a shock and worked really well as a twist which was unexpected to both Diana Prince and moviegoers. Now, concept artist Joshua Min has shared some of his work from that sequence over at ArtStation and you can check it out down below.
Interestingly, it seems the plan at one point was for Ares to be made of fire. Perhaps this would have tied into the use bombs on the battlefields of World War I burning through troops and the trenches alike, but Doctor Poison's role in the movie obviously put a focus on the effects of poison gas instead.
Ares being gigantic does, however, tie into the toys we saw from the movie where he was clearly much larger than Diana. In Wonder Woman itself, he ended up being the same size and Thewlis remained in the armour rather than transforming into someone or something else. This would have definitely been interesting to see, anyway, and you can let us know your thoughts on it in the comments section.
