I personally loved it. Saw it in theaters then watched it at home. I personally don't understand the sudden drop. But to each their own.

@Oberlin4Prez - Hopefully Wonder Woman 3 happens, its not as good as the first movie, but still want Jenkins back

@Oberlin4Prez - Respect your opinion but i thought the film was terrible. Some critics are comparing it to Superman 3 level of cheese and bad writing. I agree and thought the film was slow, terribly paced, and too long. For a film that was delayed more than New Mutants the CGI was bad and noticeably fake. This film is similar to Ang Lee's Hulk where "superhero" persona is absent for 90% of the film and when you do see "wonder woman" it lacks excitement. The villains are terrible and overly simple like Spiderman 3 or the worst mcu villains. Then there are just odd or weird story plots that dont work like what the film does with Steve Trevor.

It was like Birds of Prey to me, terribly disappointing.

@mastakilla39 - Out of curiosity, how did you watch the film? As ask because I watched the movie on my TV and the CGI looked great. It's far better than the CGI in the 3rd act of the first Wonder Woman.

@oreilly - I am a paying member of HBO Max. I have a wired and fast internet setup and saw it in 4k dolby vision hdr on my 75 inch tv. There weren't a lot of action scenes but I did notice some bad cgi whenever wonder woman "speed runs", there is this scene where she was running in the street and it looks like her feet were levitating off the ground but tbh all speed run scenes in this scene look bad and has this wonky fast forward motion effect. The part where WW was in the sky, the wide shoots is too noticeably "fake" and looks like she was inserted in. Finally, the Cheetah fight was mostly hidden behind a dark navy blue filter to hide how bad Cheetah visually looks and was rendered. It was actually hard to see if you don't up the brightness/contrast of your tv.

Some great cgi is the stadium in the intro of young diana and the fireworks scene of her and trevor in a plane. Not trying to spoil the movie/plot so im using vague descriptions but having seen the movie you prob know what scenes im referring to.

@Oberlin4Prez - @Oberlin4Prez - @mastakilla39 - Uh dudes. The Wonder Woman 1984 score is still fresh.

The film itself if I am being fair and balanced is bad.

However, its not a disaster. The first half after the olympics is horrible. It then picks up when they go to Egypt, stays good right up on to the third act.

Also the Wonder Woman action is seriously lacking in this movie.

I hope the franchise can recover from Patty Jenkins terrible decisions here. Funnily enough it wasn't really the script. There was enough good scenes to make a great movie or decent movie. So the script while not fantastic was not the akiles heel. It was actually purely the directing. The cheese of the first half and lack of hand to hand combat action in the second half of the movie was a terrible idea. People claim this was cheesy like Superman 1 or 2. But I don't think it really was. I think both those movies had much wittier scripts. This was just unnecessary cheese. The same scenes if acted naturalistically, like the robbery in the beginning and injected with more action, could have worked. It wouldn't have been the best thing of all time, but it also wouldn't have been as unbearable to watch. However the real shame is the Olympics was fire and then literally as soon as they get in the Invisible Jet, its like the tone shifts and the film becomes a really beautiful movie for the next 50 minutes or so. It was everything the movie was trying to achieve. Then once she starts flying, which was awesome. The film becomes a third movie, which was not great either.

I'm not sure what Patty was thinking. Its like a completely different director from the first. Her instincts are ALL off.

@mastakilla39 - I thought it was horrible too. Wicked slow. Vilians were stupid and only one real fight at the end..

@mastakilla39 - For the record, it looked like she was levitating off the ground because they did it with wires (if you remember those set videos), which I always thought was a dumb idea because it doesn't look like real running. There's no power. I think the MCU really figured out how to portray running at speeds of 30-60 mph very well with Black Panther and Cap. This team should've taken notes.

The movie is good, but not as good as the first movie.

Really I was going to say it needed more action, but thinking about it, I think it had around the same amount of action scenes as in the first movie. Really what I think the movie needed is more characters, sounds weird I know usually a problem with a movie is too many characters, but in this movie we mainly just follow Diana and Steve, who are great characters and good chemistry, I enjoyed their scenes together, but thing is they already know each other very well, in the first film they had The Chief, Charlie and Sameer, all very fun characters that we got to know. If not more characters, I think they could have saved more time and had some more of that type of interaction if Barbara had gone with them to Egypt from the beginning.

Had no problem with the tone, there are cornier and cheesier superhero movies (the Raimi Spiderman movies), it embraced the tone and it worked for the story being told

Still want her to do Wonder Woman 3, but would be okay with a new director, maybe Guillermo del Toro, would be cool to see a wonder woman movie more focused on the mythology aspect of the character

@dracula - I'm the opposite, i think WW 3 should have a new director for a modern day superhero, the action and big set pieces that people are mainly there to see lacked excitement. I rather WB use a new female directir like Kathyrn Bigelow who did hurt locker and point break or the waichowski sisters.

@mastakilla39 - dont know who Bigelow is but id give her a shot. The Wachowski sisters....,.they are just as bad if not worst than snyder.

I really enjoyed it, far more than I enjoyed the first one. The villains were really more antagonists than outright evil, and I found myself multiple times relating to them more than the cartoonishly evil Von Ludendorff and Doctor Poison, even if Cheetah's arc was really a magical rewrite of Selina Kyle's Batman Returns.

I do agree with Gal Gadot's earlier statement that it's time for WW movies to embrace the modern world. The eighties nostalgia doesn't quite land in this film.

dracula - 12/26/2020, 1:43 AM
@ProfessorFate - yeah there are things it does better than the first, although id say as a whole, the first film is stronger. Cheetah looked great, too bad she wasnt on screen more
ProfessorFate
ProfessorFate - 12/26/2020, 1:49 AM
@dracula - The first movie had that really awesome contrast between Greco-Roman futurism in Themyscira and the drabness of early 20th century London and Europe. The hyper saturation goofiness of the 80s kinda ate up WW's sparkle!
dracula
dracula - 12/26/2020, 2:07 AM
@ProfessorFate - yeah the colors of her costume didn't really pop the way they did in the first film
