Bryan Singer Says Mark Millar Is "Not Involved" With X-MEN: DOFP

We know Millar has been charged with overseeing Fox's Marvel based movies and - apparently - bringing them together for some type of shared universe, but despite chiming in on elements of X-Men: DOFP in the past, the director of that movie claims he's never even spoken to him..

Last year 20th Century Fox announced that Mark Millar had signed up as a consultant for their Marvel comics adaptations - which of course includes Bryan Singer's follow up to Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days Of Future Past. We had assumed that Millar would be involved with this project, and the writer has even given us some details on what we can expect (teasing The Sentinels, Kitty Pryde etc) from the story, but while chatting to Bleeding Cool, Singer reveals that he hasn't (yet) had a single conversation with Millar about the movie.

"I’ve not spoken to Mark Millar at all. He’s not involved. I don’t know what his role is about. All I know is that I have my own specific beliefs about how to take this universe forward. I started with the first X-Men, then First Class and now I am combining them and I think it could go further than that and I have some ideas about that, so perhaps he should chat to me at some point."

I think that'd be a good idea yes! This isn't a good sign for those hoping X-Men: DOFP would be part of this shared Fox universe, although there is still time for them to collaborate of course, and it's entirely possible that Fox and Millar have spoken about it before Singer even signed on. Bleeding Cool reckon it's a possibility that this movie universe might "fork in two" , and this would certainly lend some credibility to the theory. Anyway, I'm sure we'll get a proper idea of the bigger picture soon enough.
