It seems like Kinberg just wanted another shot at The Last Stand and not genuinely another shot at The Dark Phoenix Saga

@DillonEnnis - Yes. Unfortunately the Phoenix Saga will take some 15-20 years to be onscreen again.

Dammit. Wish it had reverted early.

@Fogs - I feel like the adaptations we've seen so far (even though obviously we haven't seen this yet) are far enough removed from the actual Dark Phoenix Saga to give it another shot over a several movie arc and give it a slow burn like in the comics. They could even easter egg or reference the Phoenix Force as soon as the Eternals movie. Obviously a long shot that they would try it again so soon though.

@DillonEnnis - Seems like Kingberg threatened some Fox executives and their families in order to direct this movie.

@DillonEnnis - I doubt it, unfortunately. They'll look at the word "Phoenix" and say "Nah, let's work with other stuff first".

My guess is we'll see Madripoor or the Savage Land before seeing the Phoenix Force again.

@Fogs - Agree, Marvel does not retread either. Even if Kinberg never made Dark Phoenix again, would never have adapted that story again. Just look at Homecoming, Marvel didn't even bother giving Spider-Man an origin or uncle ben story.

From Feige's interviews, Marvel is not interested in adapting what's been done in the past. That's why the only route left for Homecoming was to go back to school, give him a bunch of new suits, and show obscure sinsiter 6 members.

@DillonEnnis - Kinberg admitted to that. His biggest regret was adapting Dark Phoenix wrong, so this is just a bucket list for him. He thought the biggest problem with Last Stand was having too much of everything and not focusing enough on Jean & the Phoenix story. That's why this 1 is supposed to solely focus on Jean and the people who love her as shown in the trailer....not sure how that concept will fair for fans who want a "X-Men film" instead.

But I'm interested in seeing it.

@mastakilla39 - Not showing Spidey's origin was a good movie IMO (can't stand seeing Bats' parents being murdered over and over and over and over).

But they should've made May (and Peter) at least a little bitter on her husband's passing.

@Fogs - I mean they could've just did it in the opening credits like Spider-Man 2 or Incredible Hulk did. It makes it easier to create a "definitive setting". Did they say Uncle Ben is dead? All they said is something "happened" so it's too open-ended. What if FFH, Uncle Ben shows up and they were just "taking time-off" from their relationship.

Feige had this to say:"That was a very purposeful decision we made to not retread that ground. There are little things that are said here and there that people can read into. What the specific facts are in the past, we don't... we haven't revealed yet.”

Fogs
Fogs - 2/28/2019, 1:57 PM
@mastakilla39 - Yeah, Pete says something like "I can't tell her after all that happened" to Tony. That's the closest we got to hear from uncle Ben.
mastakilla39
mastakilla39 - 3/1/2019, 12:58 PM
@Fogs - Yeah, but that's too open-ended. It doesn't really mean he's dead. Being "separated" is equally as tragic or stressful too, something that this line can also be interpreted as.

Homecoming's biggest problem is being too open-ended. We don't know if Zendaya is Mary Jane Watson or not, if uncle ben is really dead, etc.

Maybe it's the special effects on top, but I think Sophie Turner pulls of the "Dark Phoenix" persona better than the "Jean Grey" one.

I mean, I buy these...

...much more than this

GhostDog

@DnA - Jean is a range of vulnerable and yet volatile emotions and Turner isnt a strong enough actor to juggle them all I think.
Kumkani
Kumkani - 2/28/2019, 4:45 AM
@Soos - I just mean when she's acting as Jean and the whole "scared, confused and in pain" thing her acting is just so obvious and cringeworthy.

The Phoenix side while nothing great seems more natural to her.
Kumkani
Kumkani - 2/28/2019, 4:46 AM
@BlackBeltJones - That she is not. I never really liked watching her emotional moments in GOT for this reason.
StormXmen123
StormXmen123 - 2/28/2019, 4:48 AM
@DnA - she looks menacing in the scene were she is crushing Magnetos helmet.

The cinematography and vfx look great in that scene. I love that you can see heat waves coming of her hair (whihc we no eventually turns to flame)

so they changed the plot of the last stand .....slightly. Excuse me if I’m not waiting in line day one
GhostDog

@Twenty23Three - its weird how everyone in the youtube comments is like this looks so cool and fresh....it LITERALLY seems to be 90 percent LAST STAND
Twenty23Three
Twenty23Three - 2/28/2019, 4:45 AM
@BlackBeltJones - Prof X messed with her head, she goes evil, the xmen go to confront her on a suburban street, someone dies.... I mean at least the first half of this movie from what we’ve seen is beat for beat the Last Stand

Not gonna lie I liked this trailer a lot. I'm hoping this is a decent sendoff for this franchise, but I really just want them to release this and New Mutants and just rip the damn band-aids off, take their lumps, and get it over with.
MarvelousMarty

Fassbender always looks great. Such a shame he and McAvoy could not have waited for Marvel to get their hands on this stuff. Maybe they could join Ben and Henry and form a kind of Super Team in Super Sh*tty Movies team up. Or something like that.
