X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX Suffers Biggest Ever Second-Week Drop For A Big-Budget Superhero Movie

At this point it kind of feels like we're kicking this movie when it's down, but on top of a disastrous opening weekend, Dark Phoenix has now suffered one of the biggest second-week drop in CBM history...

A certain The Simpsons GIF springs instantly to mind.

The box office numbers for Dark Phoenix's second weekend on general release are in, and things seem to be going from bad to worse for 20th Century Fox's final X-Men movie.

According to Forbes, the Simon Kinberg-directed superhero adventure took in just $2.348 million on Friday, which is down a massive 83.2% from its opening day earnings of $14 million. Up until now, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice held the record for the biggest week 1 to week 2 dip for a big-budget superhero movie with -81%.

This is just the latest blow for the film, which was pretty much torn apart by critics and made just $33 million domestically over the course of its first weekend on release - a record low for the franchise.
