Anya Taylor-Joy Comments On THE NEW MUTANTS Reshoots; Confirms New Character

Anya Taylor-Joy has been talking about how she feels about those reshoots for the upcoming New Mutants film, and has seemingly confirmed that they will include a new character, as previously rumoured...

While we wait to see what becomes of the Disney acquisition of FOX, and how that will affect the X-Men property, we still have a number of films to come from the latter studio. One such film is the new horror spin-off: The New Mutants. This film however has been pushed back almost a full year, with reports stating that these are to lean more into the horror elements and to add a new character.

Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams, who will play Wolfsbane in the upcoming adaptation, spoke recently about the delays saying how she found it a good thing that they were making the best possible version of the film they could.

Now her co-star, Anya Taylor-Joy has been talking to The Playlist and was initially less than enthused with the state of production:

“Well, the only thing that I could say, without being in trouble, is that it being delayed is disappointing, frustrating in fact, because we were all very excited for it to be released on April 13th, and I don’t mean just disappointing for me, but I’m sure there are a lot of other fans that were looking forward to seeing it,"

It wasn’t all negativity from The Witch actress, as she then went on to echo some of Maisie’s original comments:

“I do think that there is a great responsibility to make sure the movie is done right and that we deliver the fans something that they can all feel happy about and excited about. So, I don’t think it being delayed is a bad thing because it’s definitely more important to make sure that we get it right than rushing to make a date. So, hopefully, all of these reshoots and adding of the new character that will give the fans an altogether satisfactory, wonderful product.”

Interestingly this is the first, actual confirmation we’ve had that the reshoots will in fact introduce a new character. Just who it will be though remains a mystery, until the film hits theaters on the 22nd February 2019.

What do you think? Are you looking forward to THE NEW MUTANTS? How do you feel about these reshoots? Who do you think the mystery character is? Leave your thoughts below.
