Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe recently joked that he'd been cast as The MCU's new Wolverine during an interview with Wired, so, of course, the usual suspects tried to spin that into a "rumor"...

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe's response to an autocomplete query during a recent interview with Wired led to the usual sites attempting to spin a "rumor" that he might be in line to play Wolverine out of thin air.

This was nonsense (obviously), but the jovial actor has now responded to the online scuttlebutt in typically good-natured fashion.

"This is what happens when you make jokes," Radcliffe told IGN while promoting his new TBS comedy series Miracle Workers. "Wouldn’t it be great if you could just start casting yourself in things by just saying them in interviews? So I guess people have been asking something about me and Wolverine, and I made a joke about [playing] Wolverine after being in a hot wash, like I’d been shrunk in a hot wash, and the internet seems to think that I was putting that out there on my dream board cosmic ordering system."

While there is a chance that Marvel higher-ups have begun to think about who they might want to replace Hugh Jackaman with as Logan in the MCU, it'll probably be a long time before there's any steps taken to actually cast the role. When that does happen, would you like to see Radcliffe's name on the shortlist?

To get some idea of how he could look sporting the claws and signature muttonchops, Boss Logic has put together the following bit of fan-art - although we think he actually looks more like Robert Pattinson here. Hey, maybe Pattinson could play Wolverine, and Radcliffe could play Batman?

@superbigguy32 - exactly if he could bulk up I don't see why he would be an excellent Wolverine. Definitely closer to the comic book size height wise

@SpideyQuad - I was thinking the same, in a strange way it would make sense.

I like Radcliffe as an actor but I haven’t seen him do “dark and cocky” like Wolverine... He’s really good in the romantic comedy “What if” though

What rumors? Its worse when headlines and actors refer to off-hand/quick suggestions, as "rumors". Because then everyone gets pissed off in the end.

@RolandD - There is a reason (many reasons) why I dont even bother reading Wilding's titles let alone clicking on the article to read. Its been months since I stopped giving attention to the biggest troll on this website.

I think he's a pretty good actor (now), but Wolverine? C'mon. You want a Tom Hardy-type in that role.

@RorMachine - Tom Hardy being 5"9, would look pretty small next to Chris Hemsworth at 6"3, so that'd be pretty legit. We all know he can put on the muscle needed and he has the ruggedness. I'd be down for Tom Hardy. Don't think it'll happen, but what do I know haha stranger things have happened!

@RorMachine - Tom Hardy has played enough comicbook characters and im not a fan his voice but i guess he can do like he did in Mad max and not talk much did he even have dialogue

@RorMachine - Radcliffe isn't right for Wolverine, but Hardy would be even worse. We don't need Hardy ruining yet another great book character. I mean, c'mon; Bane, Mad Max, and Venom. How does a guy grossly overact, make outrageous goofy voices, and yet STILL manage to be dull and uninspired?
