Sounds Like Fan Bingbing Will Return As 'Blink' In X-MEN: APOCALYPSE
Although she only had a small (but memorable) role in Bryan Singer's recent X-Men: Days Of Future Past, Chinese actress Fan Bingbing tells The Star.com that she is contacted to reprise the role of teleporting mutant Blink in the "next four" films.
Blink's teleportation powers provided some of the coolest visuals in X-Men: Days Of Future Past, and although the character was actually killed (twice) in the future timeline, we know that Wolverine and co. altered those events at the end of the movie. Because of that we expected several future returnees for Fox's next X-flick, but if you thought Blink's relatively minor role meant she'd played her part and would now be sidelined, think again. While speaking with website The Star.com, actress Fan Bingbing confirms that she'll return..and not just for the next movie!
"I am contracted to appear in the next four X-Men films and it’s going to be really amazing,” she said through her translator. “In 14 years since the X-Men films started, this is the first time an Asian mutant is in the film. So, it’s going to be really interesting. In the comics, Blink is a Caucasian girl, so I was curious why Bryan wanted an Asian to play the role. He said that it’s time for Blink to make an appearance and, for her debut she has to be simply marvelous. It was an offer I couldn't refuse."
She's actually mistaken about being the first Asian mutant (there's Kelly Hu's Deathstrike among others) but perhaps she meant the first X-Man, as the other characters were all villains. Anyway, it'll be nice to see Blink zapping people about again in X-Men: Apocalypse I'm sure you'll agree. More at the link below.
