You Can Thank Kevin Feige For Hugh Jackman Having Wolverine's Classic Hairdo In The Early X-MEN Movies

2000's X-Men movie may not have stuck that closely to the source material but if you're wondering who to thank for Hugh Jackman rocking Wolverine's classic hairdo, that would be Marvel boss Kevin Feige...

Kevin Feige was Lauren Shuler Donner's assistant when she was producing X-Men back in 2000 but the fact he was so knowledgeable about the Marvel Universe led to him being promoted to associate producer. Later, he would be chosen as Avi Arad's second in command at Marvel and later became President in 2007, ultimately overseeing the release of movies like Iron Man and The Avengers

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Feige looked back at his time working on X-Men and how he influenced that movie. While director Bryan Singer shunned the comic book (he went so far as to ban the cast from reading them), Feige managed to get Hugh Jackman's hairstylist to bring the sides of his hair up and give him "big-ass hair." While that ended up looking a tad ridiculous, it resembled the character's appearance in the source material and that was what Feige obviously wanted to be the case.

"I never liked the idea that people weren’t attempting things because of the potential for them to look silly," Feige explained. "Anything in a comic book has the potential to look silly. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to make it look cool." With an attitude like that, it's easy to see why Marvel Studios and the Marvel Cinematic Universe has managed to find so much success in recent years.
