We're in unprecedented (but not entirely surprising) territory now as Marvel's Avengers: Endgame has wildly exceeded expectations with a record-shattering $1.209 billion worldwide launch.

Marvel's Avengers: Endgame has officially cemented its place at the top of the record books with a record-shattering $1.209 billion global launch, becoming the first film in cinematic history to cross the $1 billion threshold in its opening frame. It actually crossed the milestone in five days, which is nearly twice as fast as its predecessor, Avengers: Infinity War, which needed eleven days.

With a $350 million debut in the United States, Avengers: Endgame is now the first film ever to debut north of $300 million domestically and with a $859 million international debut (including a record-breaking $330.5 million debut in China), it's also the biggest launch ever for a film internationally.

Here are some key stats from this weekend directly from The Walt Disney Studios and Marvel Studios:
  • #1 domestic ($350M), international ($859M), and global ($1,209.0M) debuts
  • #1 domestic Thursday previews ($60M)
  • #1 domestic single-day gross and #1 domestic Friday gross ($156.7M)
  • #1 domestic Saturday ($109M) and Sunday ($84.3M) grosses; Saturday is first $100M+ day without previews
  • #1 China opening day ($107.8M) and opening weekend ($330.5M) and already ranking as the #4 non-local film ever released there
  • Fastest film to $1B globally (5 days)
  • 8th Marvel Studios film to cross $1B; 2nd to cross $1B this year (with “Captain Marvel”)
  • Biggest industry opening weekend across all regions and in 44 markets, including Australia, China, Korea, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, France (admissions, non-local), Italy (non-local), Spain, UK/Ireland
  • Biggest industry single-day grosses in 29 markets, including Australia, China, Korea, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Spain, UK/Ireland
  • Biggest IMAX global debut ($91.5M)
  • 96% Certified Fresh RottenTomatoes score
  • A+ CinemaScore (U.S.)
Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War give Marvel Studios the top two global openings of all-time as well as six of the top ten domestic debuts and two of the top three international. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has now grossed over $19.9 billion to date (with $20 billion on the horizon) and four of their films currently rank among the top ten global releases of all-time.

In a press release issued earlier this afternoon, The Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn said, “Kevin Feige and the Marvel Studios team have continued to challenge notions of what is possible at the movie theatre both in terms of storytelling and at the box office. Though ‘Endgame’ is far from an end for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, these first 22 films constitute a sprawling achievement, and this weekend’s monumental success is a testament to the world they’ve envisioned, the talent involved, and their collective passion, matched by the irrepressible enthusiasm of fans around the world.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige added, “From the very beginning with ‘Iron Man,’ all we’ve wanted to do was tell stories that brought these characters to life onscreen the way we’ve experienced them as fans of the comics. That we’ve had so many other successes in this journey leading to this unbelievable result with ‘Avengers: Endgame’ has been almost entirely due to the fans around the world who have supported us through it all. Our directors, Anthony and Joe Russo, and our writers, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, really brought this story home, and I am also incredibly thankful for our cast and filmmakers from across the MCU and all who’ve worked so hard to make these films the best they can be, including the amazing teams at Marvel Studios and Disney. And of course, without Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, none of this would have been possible.

Directors Anthony and Joe Russo also expressed their immense gratitude, “We poured our heart and soul into ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ hoping to tell a story that would inspire audiences around the world. Our family of cast and crew felt honored to be entrusted with bringing the Infinity Saga to a close. To Kevin Feige, everyone at Disney and Marvel, and the incredible, global community of fans – thank you.

It's been over a decade since Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) started us off on this epic journey, and now, that journey comes to an end. However, before he can lend a hand in stopping Thanos (Josh Brolin), he's going to have to find his way back to Earth, but that looks to be easier said than done. Whatever it takes.

Nebula (Karen Gillan) and War Machine (Don Cheadle) aboard Rocket's (Bradley Cooper) ship, gearing up for the mission of a lifetime. Whether or not either hero will survive to tell the tale remains to be seen. Whatever it takes.

Nebula's (Karen Gillan) entire existence has been defined by pain, but at least she was able to find one saving grace in Gamora (Zoe Saldana). However, with her sister now gone, she'll be extra motivated to exact her revenge on Thanos (Josh Brolin). Whatever it takes.

While this could easily be misdirection, the new suits seemingly suggest that War Machine (Don Cheadle) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) will be a part of the team that heads into the Quantum Realm. Whatever it takes.

Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) takes on a protege. While her identity remains unknown, there are rumors it could be Kate Bishop, although that's anything but a certainty. Whatever it takes.

Captain America (Chris Evans) is willing to do whatever it takes to defeat Thanos (Josh Brolin) and fix reality. Now, let's just hope he knows we're all with him till the end of the line, too. Whatever it takes.

Considering his experience in the Quantum Realm, it's no surprise that Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) will be playing a key role, and it looks like Nebula (Karen Gillan) is coming too. Whatever it takes.

While we don't know for sure, it's been heavily rumored that the film will have a time jump of some sort and it looks like it may be fairly significant as Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) is sporting a considerably different look, which does make sense if he's been operating as Ronin. Whatever it takes.

Thor (Chris Hemsworth) gives his seal of approval to the team's newest member, Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), and seems to be quite on board with her spirited attitude and plan to take down Thanos (Josh Brolin).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm assuming that's Thanos' (Josh Brolin) ship? Whatever it takes.

Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) share a moment together, akin to their scene in The Avengers, before all hell breaks loose. As two of the only non-superpowered members of the team, their chances of survival seem slim, but, then again, they do have a knack for beating the odds. Whatever it takes.

Thor (Chris Hemsworth) warmly welcomes Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) to the team while Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and War Machine (Don Cheadle) look on. Whatever it takes.

The God of Thunder (Chris Hemsworth) has been on quite a tear with Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War, and now we can expect him to be at his absolute best in Avengers: Endgame as he looks to rectify his most unfortunate oversight, which means it's probably a safe bet that he'll go for the head this time. Whatever it takes.

Bruce Banner's (Mark Ruffalo) fan-favorite alter-ego abandoned him during the last battle, but that didn't stop the good doctor from doing his best to bring down Thanos (Josh Brolin) with the Hulkbuster, even though his efforts ultimately proved futile. This time, however, he'll be back with a vengeance. Whatever it takes.

Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) takes a moment to mourn the fallen and reflect on everything Thanos' (Josh Brolin) has taken from them. She's also seen with longer hair, although the blonde tips do suggest that the time jump may not be as significant as we may have thought. Whatever it takes.

In one of the most heartbreaking shots we've seen, Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) reunites with Nebula (Karen Gillan) and finally learns the fates of Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) while Nebula learns about Groot (Vin Diesel). With their family decimated, both will have to gather every last bit of strength they have to join the Avengers and take down Thanos (Josh Brolin). Whatever it takes.

Avengers Assembled. From left-to-right: Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), War Machine (Don Cheadle), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson).

While it's uncertain what's going on, it looks like they may be listening to either Thor (Chris Hemsworth) or Captain Marvel (Brie Larson). Whatever it takes.

"Do you trust me?"

"I do."

Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Captain America (Chris Evans) reunite and it looks like they've finally put their differences aside to bring down the biggest threat they've ever seen: the Mad Titan Thanos (Josh Brolin). Whatever it takes.

The Avengers head off into space for the adventure of a lifetime, and while,Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), and Rocket (Bradley Cooper) have plenty of experience in the great beyond, this will be the first otherworldly expedition for Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and War Machine (Don Cheadle).

This is also a scene that looks like it may take place early on as the full team isn't quite assembled just yet, and if we were to wager an educated guess, their journey may not ultimately result in them finding Thanos (Josh Brolin), but a stranded Armored Avenger (Robert Downey Jr.) instead.

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”

@manofillintent1 - just got out of it. I cried 6 times. Just out of my set with uncontrollable joy twice. I wasnt ready. That movie was beyond all expectations and to be honest my expectations were completely unreasonable and impossible to live up to... but it freaking demolished them. It was an experience unlike anything I've ever known. Perfect movie.

Lord. That's so crazy. I mean....just a little over 10 years ago, many people didn't take CBMs seriously. And Marvel had to sell characters just to avoid bankruptcy. Now look.

Also, the article didn't mention, but thanks to Endgame, Captain Marvel, in it's 8th week, rose back up to second place this week, and has surpassed Wonder Woman's domestic total. Crazy.
