There are a great many conflicting reports about Marvel Studios' plans for the Avengers franchise, though it's become clear in recent months that both The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars are undergoing major changes.

Michael Waldron is now believed to be writing both movies after previously lending his talents to Loki and Doctor Straage in the Multiverse of Madness, replacing Jeff Loveness on The Kang Dynasty. Avengers 5 is even thought to have lost its title in recent weeks due to the fallout from Jonathan Majors' continued legal issues.

Marvel Studios isn't giving up on Kang, but the villain is expected to take a backseat in the Multiverse Saga and may not be seen again until his ultimate Variant - The Beyonder - shows up.

With Kevin Feige looking to get back to quality over quantity, it's seemed doubtful for a while that all those MCU movies and TV shows would arrive in time for the next assemblage of Earth's Mightiest Heroes (last year's Hollywood strikes have also done little to help matters).

Now, scooper Alex Perez is claiming to have learned of plans for Avengers 5 to slip down the release calendar. "Be advised: Avengers 5 is NOT coming out 2026," he claims on X. "There is still much work to be tended to and too much to be set up before they can dive deep into the upcoming Avengers movie."

This news doesn't come as a surprise and we'd imagine Marvel Studios will reveal an updated Multiverse Saga slate later this year (perhaps during July's San Diego Comic-Con).

"You know, I'm coming up on 23 years at Marvel," Feige said last year. "That's a long time. It's not quite half my life, but it's almost half my life. [Laughs] Many of us have been together for a decade or more. And we only do it because we are so excited and in love with the potential for what we can do ahead."

"The storylines that weave together through Phase 5 and 6 into Secret Wars and the opportunities that the multiverse brings storytelling-wise, it's a whole new aspect to the MCU."

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 1, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars to follow on May 7, 2027.

@WakandaTech - I'm not really buying this rumour just yet, so I'm still thinking Avengers 5 and 6 in 2026 and 2027 respectively:

2025: Captain America 4, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, Blade

2026: Armor Wars, Avengers 5, Spider-Man 4

2027: Shang-Chi 2, Avengers 6, Nova

Nova could be a movie, especially since it's probably CGI-heavy like Armor Wars thus they also opt to turn it into a movie instead. No earlier than 2027 though.

@AllsGood - Folk do know Time's person of the year is not based on if they are good or not, it is the sort of thing someone like Hitler could be during WWII for all the worst reasons. I mean her concerts regardless opinion of her had news reports of registering on the Richter scale and significant impact on global economies so...

...I mean 2021 it was Elon Musk and folk will be divided on is that is a good or bad thing/person...

...again not taking sides on any debate on Taylow Swift herself, just always question how much attention/weight should be given to who they select for it.
