"Hulk" Characters to be in The Avengers Movie?

Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. were asked at the "Iron Man 2" Q&A if The Hulk would be in The Avengers movie. They didn't confirm or deny, but said mysteriously that "Hulk characters" WILL be in the movie...
What exactly does that mean? We'll have to wait and hear from our intrepid reporter Brent Sprecher to see if he can shed any light on the subject.

One theory might be that they are going to mess around with the super soldier theme again to outfit the team and make a few government owned Avengers.

Another potential twist might be that some government irradiated super-soldiers turn bad and they will be the villains of the movie. Maybe a return of the Abomination? The army DID cart him off at the end of the Hulk movie.

Still another thought, is that "Hulk characters" means some hero or villian that is closely associated with the Hulk mythos will be front and center.

Hmmmm. So many questions. What do you think?

My hope is for the leader, there was a tease in the movie and I think the avengers could seek out banner to combat the leader.
thwhtGuardian - 7/25/2009, 8:42 PM
Hulk will be in it of course! They wouldn't have had Stark make an appearance at the end if they were not planning on it
Rorschach01 - 7/25/2009, 8:45 PM
I think the Hulk will be back!

He might even come back as a villian, well not a villian but a misunderstood hero!
Deadpool813 - 7/25/2009, 8:47 PM
Wikipedia said that hulk makes an appearance at the end of the movie... YAY!

The Marvel movies seem more in line with the ultimates. And thats ok with me. Meaning Banner might turn into the Hulk to give them something to fight?
Soilworley - 7/25/2009, 9:33 PM
Ultimates was a kick ass reinterpretation of the avengers! As far as I'm concerned, they could base all the future Marvel movies of the Ultimate versions and I wouldn't be disappointed.
Apoc4all - 7/25/2009, 9:39 PM
If it is a supportingcharacter, they may introduce Rick Jones, like I did in my Avengers story, he has been essential to a lot of storylines

Here is a fans view on how the movie should go

Remember...

She-Hulk is technically a "Hulk Character" and if memory serves me right...

She was an avenger.
gtrman - 7/25/2009, 10:43 PM
She Hulk?

Nobody here's that gay dude.
Keven - 7/25/2009, 11:00 PM
Ang Lee's Hulk (which was the real abomination) left such a bad taste in people's mouths that I don't think The Incredible Hulk got as much credit as it deserved for being a good comic book movie. Since it's doubtful that the studio will do a follow-up, I think it's only suitable that The Leader be included in The Avengers movie. Otherwise it's a complete waste of a tease that got me amped about seeing the character brought to life.
Reck79 - 7/25/2009, 11:04 PM
THIS IS A FACT!!!!!!

bruce banner IS A HULK CHARACTOR!!!!!!!

yes folks thats right, hulk himself might not be in the movie. but that doesn't mean his host bruce can't be.

in the ultimates comics bruce banner was working with nick fury and hank pym. working hard to re create the S.S.S.

so i think Mr. Norton might make an appearance.

plus General ross was aprochedat the end of hulk by tony stark. so, no doubt he will be in the movie.
bladeshad - 7/25/2009, 11:34 PM
Well to follow origin, Loki, he tricks Hulk into destroying a bridge or something. ( This is what my friend told me) and Loki is pulling the hulks strings making him look like a bad guy. Hulk ends up fighting thor and irion man on the bridge and ant man turns into giant man with the wasp as spiderman shows up and they all are fighting the Hulk, until thor notices something very loki like about the Hulk. Thenh they fight loki. I dont know if this is true. Obviously no Spuidey cause of gay ass sony. But its an idea. Not a great one, but true to the comic i guess.
Jim1692 - 7/26/2009, 12:18 AM
@ jim

thats how it went. in the 3rd avengers comic ever, loki controls the hulk to go on a rampage and the avengers have to stop him. also very similar to the ultimates fighting hulk in the first ultimates story. its a very safe bet that the avengers movie will follow suit and have the avengers fight an enraged hulk thats being controlled by loki. the leader will NOT be the villain in the avengers movie...not a chance in hell, he's too lame
CorndogBurglar - 7/26/2009, 12:45 AM
Yeah LEADER will be for HULK 2 um,,, i mean 3 lol! : D

HULKS the main villain in AVENGERS, when he turns bad! (Maybe ULTRON or something has a part in it, who knows) But HULKS the main villain, that's why they get THOR! ; )

Oh and =

; )

LEEE777 - 7/26/2009, 1:18 AM
the villian should be LOKI!! With the hulk as an Avengers member.
Scorpioxfactor - 7/26/2009, 2:09 AM
THE HULKS gonna be a AVENGER at 1st geez lol!

LOKI hmmmmm
LEEE777 - 7/26/2009, 3:14 AM
Yeah, She-Hulk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bring it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
NataliaRomanov - 7/26/2009, 4:17 AM
@ lee i want a much bigger hulk buster armor than that pos
grif - 7/26/2009, 5:18 AM
After the Tony Stark cameo at the end of The Incredible Hulk I find it hard to believe that we wont see The Hulk!

LEE: yes, the Hulkbuster armour HAS to be in the movie!!

Im still worried about Zak Penn writing the movie...seeing as he wrote the awful Fantastic Four and Elektra it just seems inevitable that The Avengers wont be any good with that douchbag writing it...dont let that happen Marvel!!!
joshw24 - 7/26/2009, 5:45 AM
Yeah your right @ JOSH @ HULK will be in it, even if they decide it to be really short, though i think he's the MAIN Villain! Tony's Armor, THOR and the rest have to stop his big green a$$! : D

Heyyyyyyy i like the FF movies!!! ; )
LEEE777 - 7/26/2009, 6:54 AM
My concern about the avengers movie is not the villian but the heroes. Captain America is supposed to be the leader with the rest including ironan as supporting cast. However I believe they will try to beef up Tonys part in the team and he will essentially be the leader. Which is not the correct dynamic.
superdog - 7/26/2009, 7:01 AM
SUPER @ Well hopefully CAP gets found in ICE in AVENGERS first, but i hope he ain't LEADER straight away! Like with the HULK RAMPAGE Tony (if its him or PYM) See's the need for CAP to be in charge, a living legend!
LEEE777 - 7/26/2009, 7:28 AM
Im sure I heard somewhere that the Captain America movie would be set in WWII AND today...it might be better if that were the case rather than The Avengers focusing on Cap adjusting to modern times.

The Zak Penn thing terrifies me though...
joshw24 - 7/26/2009, 9:12 AM
Hulk for first major battle of the film, Loki/Ultron for main villain.
Osiris - 7/26/2009, 9:13 AM
I reckon it is just Banner/the Hulk, they're trying to put us off the scent
Frogman - 7/26/2009, 10:19 AM
THE LEADER!!!

they certainly set him up in incredible hulk, which i doubt we'll see a sequel to. im guessing that there will be a minor conflict of the avengers takikng down an on the rampage hulk, with the leader culminating into the central, final villain...maybe??
JeremyBentham - 7/26/2009, 10:38 AM
For some reason I don't think Hulk will be that prominent in it, if at all...the box office was not too great, and it has to be expensive as hell to animate the character. I wanna see who they have for Cap already!
TheDurkinKnight - 7/26/2009, 11:58 AM
not great at the box office? Just because it didn't beat iron man and the dark knight doesn't mean it was a flop. 134 million is hardly something to laugh at.
thwhtGuardian - 7/26/2009, 12:30 PM
there will be a incredible hulk sequel, Marvel said that it will most likely be after the avengers movie.
charbelelnasr - 7/26/2009, 1:13 PM
IF STARK PUTS ON THE HULK BUSTER SUIT IN THE MOVIE, EVERY NERD WILL WET THEIR PANTS
GUNSMITH - 7/26/2009, 2:34 PM
at end of hulk iron man said he could help out ross hulk buster suit!!!!!!!!! maybe it's like mr. blue or something
gambitfreak - 7/26/2009, 2:41 PM
maybe ross and co. are gonna use the leader to experiment on abomination and create his gamma corps..and the avengers are gonna end up using hulk as an ally in the end
Anil Rickly - 7/26/2009, 6:35 PM
The other Avengers need to fight the Hulk. That's the only way the movie would be worth seeing. You put the Hulk on their side and then no matter who you choose as a villain, it would either have to be so ridiculously powerful that there is simply no way we can expect Nick Fury, Black Widow or Captain America to even make a valuable contribution to victory or it would be run over with such ease it'd feel like an empty victory.

However, having a team set up to be able to take down the undefeatable Hulk would certainly make for a very interesting movie and climatic battle because it wouldn't be clear to the viewer who would win the battle.
Hobgoblyn - 7/26/2009, 7:36 PM
I think by January we will have a better handle on what we will be seeing in the Avengers movie.

Heck, I may be one of the few who wants this, but I would LOVE a follow-on movie to "The Incredible Hulk" with him going after The Leader BEFORE we see an avengers movie.

I do want the Avengers being assembled to take down a rampaging Hulk who has either become separate from Banner, or who has so completely internalized Banner that he no longer calms down and transmogrifies.

I always had heard the rumor that in Iron Man II, Stark gets taken down so hard by Whiplash and Hammer, with War Machine trying to put the dagger up his strap AND getting screwed around by S.H.I.E.L.D. that he turns, in desperation, to The Hulk for help, then Hulk turns out to be far too dangerous to ally with, causing Iron Man to follow up at Fury's urging to assemble the Avengers to take him down.

Let's hope they think like a comic book writer, True Believers! 'Nuff said!
bropous - 9/28/2009, 7:46 AM
Teh Incredible Hulk did not do so great at the boxoffice because it was released FAR too soon after Iron Man. Theater ticket buyers had not had enough of a cool-down period after Iron Man to be ready for another superhero movie.

But, to add to the discussion between the "knights" above, let us not forget that although The Incredible Hulk made just around $150 million domestically, it raked in another $250 MILLION internationally. FOUR HUNDRED MILLION altogether and they can't conceive of another Hulk movie with Norton?

Puh-LEEZ.
