CBM Los Angeles correspondents Matt and Kristin from DarkKnightNews.com recently spoke with Guy Pearce at the premiere of LOCKOUT, and got us some great interviews (stay tuned for those).

A fan favorite, Pearce goes way back with Christopher Nolan when they collaborated in a little mindf**ck movie called MEMENTO. When asked if he would be working with the TDKR director again, we got this little tidbit...

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th 2012 and stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake and Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate.

Ok, Guy as Rahs... That would be ODD. hE would make a fantastic RIDDLER, though!
HelaGood - 4/2/2012, 3:47 PM
i could see him as Batman, actually...
HelaGood - 4/2/2012, 3:48 PM
Riddler would be cool too!!
nowtheresaBATman - 4/2/2012, 3:53 PM
The Riddler... I could see that.

Glad they went w/ the Jedi Master instead!
AvalonKnight - 4/2/2012, 3:55 PM
I saw a mock up picture of hm as batman probably ten years ago. I wish i had that picture as a poster for my wall. It was badass!
Hando99 - 4/2/2012, 3:56 PM
Hope he is the new Luthor in the Man of Steel sequal.
PaulRom - 4/2/2012, 3:56 PM
I can see him as Riddler. Would've been great as Daredevil a few years ago though.
OdinsBeard - 4/2/2012, 4:08 PM
he's my Victor Freeze fan cast.

good to know he's openb to it! :)
JoshWilding - 4/2/2012, 4:12 PM
Huh, never knew he's been considered for Ra's. Great stuff!
RunDTC - 4/2/2012, 4:12 PM
uh, I thought we already knew this? I did.
headlopper - 4/2/2012, 4:16 PM
So I didn't get the job.

This is Emu discrimination!
I'll bet if I was a mammal I'd get serious consideration.
RunDTC - 4/2/2012, 4:21 PM
it's weird, I was talking with some friends yesterday about who Pearce could play in a CBM. spooky.
soberchimera - 4/2/2012, 4:37 PM
He was supposed to be Daredevil, but then he saw that the director was shit. Good call. But he would make a great Matt Murdock.
KALel3412 - 4/2/2012, 4:44 PM
man i hope he gets it after nolan is done. he would have been way better than bale
patriautism - 4/2/2012, 4:46 PM
Don't know about Ra's but he would make a kick ass Riddler
AlexDeLarge87 - 4/2/2012, 5:14 PM
^Agree

I heard Nolan´s top choice as Ducard was Daniel Day-Lewis but he obviously passed on the role.
AlexDeLarge87 - 4/2/2012, 5:16 PM
Jon Hamm as the next Batman!:)
AlexDeLarge87 - 4/2/2012, 5:19 PM
Guy would be awesome Victor Fries too.
Supes17 - 4/2/2012, 5:31 PM
I think he'd be great as Scarecrow or Black mask
Supes17 - 4/2/2012, 5:33 PM
They should do it Arkham City style.
maybe the plot can involve Grayson's first days as Robin, parallelling Bruce's story or the end of batman and a new beginning.
Idk, I've always wanted Grayson to take over the mantle eventually
RocketMadnessBoss - 4/2/2012, 5:38 PM
Guy Pearce is incredible, but Liam Neeson is on a different level of skill entirely.
RocketMadnessBoss - 4/2/2012, 5:41 PM
This made me wanna watch Batman Begins. Which is now what I am doing!
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 4/2/2012, 6:13 PM
I knew he was Nolan's first choice for Harvey Dent, but I never knew he was up for Ras. It would have been very interesting, but Liam Neeson did a great job with the character, so it's no big loss in my opinion.
theredhood6 - 4/2/2012, 6:14 PM
Definitely Jon Hamm. Super agreed.
GUNSMITH - 4/2/2012, 6:21 PM
Hisapanhick - 4/2/2012, 7:00 PM
That's actually my friend KristEn (you spelled her name wrong) can't believe she's actually doing stuff like this.
Optimus83 - 4/2/2012, 7:16 PM
Maybe in a Reboot for Justice League. ...
SuspenseSmith - 4/2/2012, 7:24 PM
He would have been good, but like it's pointed out here, there's been no villain that he would have really worked for other than maybe a crooked cop.

I could see him as perhaps Scarecrow, Riddler, Mad Hatter, or a younger Ra's.

If only he was older he would have nailed Al Ghul. Other than that, he's too refined and charismatic for the more tortured, deranged villains.
SuspenseSmith - 4/2/2012, 7:27 PM
There are a lot of good actors out there that would have been great in Nolan. But up till now, there were already really good actors in most of the roles already. Unfortunately not everyone can be in these movies.

Aaron, Cillian, Liam, Heath, and Tom are all awesome.

The only roles that I would prefer to have different people would be the female roles. Katie Hoes, Saggie Maggie, and Anne Hell-no-way are all actresses that i'd prefer never so see in a film.

Marion on the other hand, hell yes.
acidbath - 4/2/2012, 7:31 PM
Nice big G...he is a funny guy.
KingEmperor - 4/2/2012, 7:51 PM
I also read somewhere that Guy Pearce auditioned to play Batman. Though he's an excellent actor, I think he's too young to play Ra's. Also Liam Neeson has a stronger, more commanding presence when it comes to being a mentor/leader of a shadow group.
RunDTC - 4/2/2012, 9:09 PM
^L.A. Confidential is his 2nd best then.
kamikazeturtle - 4/2/2012, 10:22 PM
I remember thinking he would made a great Batman but I was happy when Bale was cast. Now I'm not sure. I love Bale but he growls too much. Guy Pearce might have been better. I guess I could also see him as the Riddler.
DrGreecelove - 4/2/2012, 10:38 PM
@SuspenseSmith

Agree with the things you pointed out, especially about the charismatic aura surrounding Pearce, that wouldn't let him easily get into the skin of a more deranged villain (well, I kinda thought the same about Hardy too! and now he is... BANE!!)

...but I have to admit that I am much more optimistic about the casting of Anne hell-no-way (!!!) as the cat lady... I think u should too ! ;)
TheBatman938865 - 4/2/2012, 11:47 PM
the time machine was awesome!
Unionjack - 4/3/2012, 3:24 AM
I had read this before and was glad he wasn't cast. NOt right for the role, nolan said he wanted the dark side of bruce adn i think he is now trying to do this with his version of bane!!

Great actor and hopefully he will be cast in a future CBM
superdupont - 4/3/2012, 4:22 AM
clearly ! guy pearce could be a perfect matt murdock/daredevil, in the reboot from fox studios !!
Orphix - 4/3/2012, 5:07 AM
I think he would make an amazing Dr Stephen Strange!
Seejay - 4/3/2012, 5:49 AM
Dr Strange, yeah, I can see that. He is talented. Perhaps not the "comic-book-handsome-hero" type, but he should do a CBM film.
dezdigi - 4/3/2012, 7:46 AM
He should've been Two-Face! Eckhart was meh.
Moltenman - 4/3/2012, 8:24 AM
I thought his best performances were in Neighbours ;)
RunDTC - 4/3/2012, 10:30 AM
@dezdigi: are you crazy? Eckhart was fantastic in The Dark Knight.
AUSSYACE - 4/7/2012, 3:53 AM
He has the Square Jaw look for Bruce Wayne and he would of done an admirable job instead of Bale...

PLUS he is an AUSSY...YAHOO...
