She really is great in the role, the scene where she speaks before world leaders is what must have secured all the nominations.

@cadunovaesbr - and yet winning an Oscar for one scene never happens lol

@bobevanz - it actually happens all the time

@cadunovaesbr - I dunno “the most powerful nation in the world”. Your nation is the size of a city. Chill out. One nuke and you’re gone.

@cadunovaesbr - She was good for sure but I'm still salty over how they choose to end her arc.

I watched Banshees the other night and found it quite good. I'm putting my money of her taking Lauren taking the win.

Joy is a close second.

@bobevanz - That actually does happen. Paul Hirsch is nominated this year for only appearing in one scene, and a classic example is Beatrice Straight in The Network who won supporting actress for one like 5 minute scene.

Angela Bassett had one really effective and powerful scene, as well as a strong performance across the film. Her chances of winning are actually pretty high based on the other award wins too

@bobevanz - Judy Dench won her Best Supporting Actress Oscar for Shakespeare In Love despite appearing on film for less than 6 minutes.

@DavidMullich - Yeah, but that was the Weinstein's influence. They bought and paid for that Oscar along with Best Picture which should have gone to Saving Private Ryan.

Kathy Bates was remarkable in Primary Colors and should have won that year.

I am a big fan of Angela Bassett and there really isn't any major competition in the supporting actress category.

Kerry Condon won the BAFTA but she is a first time Oscar nominee.
Bassett has been nominated before for "What's Love Got to Do with It"

So the odds on her winning are strong since the Academy likes to award people who have been previously nominated.
They also tend to consider career and how many films a person has made.

And using the Woke-meter she checks that box being a Black woman. That only helps her cause.

@Urubrodi - the aliens in infinity saga were starting to break though with their claws. Pretty certain a nuke would punch right through it.

@bobevanz - She's won a Golden Globe and Critic's Choice award for the role. She's nominated for BAFTA and SAGA awards, but winners have not yet been announced. Variety has predicted that she will win. She definitely has a chance.

@DavidMullich - dunno jamie lee curtis and stephanie hsu for everything everywhere all at once has been getting alot of buzz too. i think its still fair game as oscars still have a stigma on cbms unless it is legendary like Heath Ledger or Joaquin Phownix

Nominate all you want, Stephanie Hsu will win because she was better. Wakanda Forever was the definition of mid, now everyone will cry like babies when a Marvel movie wins nothing, which is the right decision.

I can see it winning costume design and I do think Angela Bassett has a better chance than most to win... even though Kerry Condon gave my favorite performance in that category.
