Singleton, Cage and the Black Panther

The man has been putting his foot in John Singleton’s face for awhile now when it comes to the Luke Cage movie, but Marvel fans might be getting some more love from the Marvel loving director.
John Singleton has long wanted to make the movie adaption of the cartoon super hero Luke Cage, but it seems that the studios have been giving him a hard time. Recently though, in speaking to blackfilm.com, the director lets slip that he’s been offered the chance to direct the Black Panther movie.

“There is a race to see if I'm going to do 'Luke Cage' first or 'Black Panther'. I really wanted to do both of those pictures. I've always been a fan of Marvel comics, so it depends. I can do 'Cage' or 'Black Panther'. I've just been approached about doing 'Black Panther'.”

“There's scripts on it [Luke Cage]. Hollywood has a very limiting view on what makes a pop culture picture. If you put a black face on it, they think it's black thing; but yet we have all these movies that have come up and whenever they any black people in it, they make all this money. That's the thing that's holding 'Luke Cage' up. They think it's a small superhero movie. It's not going to be a small stupid movie like 'Meteor Man'. I'm trying to make 'Luke Cage'.”

Luke Cage, the mis-convicted prisoner who underwent a experimental procedure to grant him superhuman strength and titanium-hard skin has long been a favorite of fans, despite some of the public criticism that followed the exploitation of black comic heroes in the 70’s and 80’s.

The Black Panther on the other hand, is the ceremonial title given to the chief of the Panther Tribe, located in the fictional country of Wakanda in Africa (Wakanda being the fictional part… not Africa). The modern day Black Panther, T’Challa, has had a long affiliation with The Avengers and a long career as a superhero, in addition to his chiefly duties.

Hello Mr. John Singleton, my name is Daniel Emmanuel Montgomery I admire your life's work and all of your movies they a so flawless, I loved Illegal Tender and many more which were so dramatical and real,I am a boy brought up and raised in church, and known as a talented child in many ways, and one of them is a real gift I'd prefer to do and that is acting in which I have great experience in, I would love to see a Black Panther film come to past and have always wanted to cast as the young prince/ warrior T'challa, because I grew up watching him on Animated series and comic books even his wife Storm who I am both fond of him and her as my favorite Marvel Characters and couple, too. It would be both a miracle and an honor to act as the younger black panther and live his life as a prince in arica where I've have been truly waiting arrive to since forever, because I am african american, mocha brown skin, healthy body, dark brown eyes, dark brown hair, mix with indian telling by wavy hair and soft skin, height 5,7, weight 127.5, fine toned physique, well outspoken voice made for singing, acting in dramatized manner, fast runner and intelligent thinker, writer, brainstormer. I am also a fine martial artists with training to enhance skills, too. I have always been told that dreams are just for rookies, because some dreams might never become a reality, well if I'm contacted for any discussions of me hopfully casting in the movie or feedback on what can possibly be arranged I am on a plane pronto, because the sky is the limit. My current location is in West Philadelphia( Will Smith's birthplace born and raised currently attending his old highschool Overbrook), I am a 16 year old boy trying to live my dream, as well as make a change in my families life by making his parents proud of my, and showing the world my Talent(s). My home number is (215)477-7603 or cell phones (267)251-7239 and (267)251-7364. I am as serious than I've ever been, I am perfect for young T'challa and have nothing whatsoever to loose and am willingly ready w/o no hestation since I was born for this oppotunity to represent the beautiful culture from my ancestors country and my ethnicity... Africa, recognized in marvel comicbook history. Please, you would be so suprised, and find it most fortuitous that a young boy as talented as I am, and where I come from can act so passionately! Consider, but please do not reconsider my suggestion and my dream unspoken of,but spoken out with all his heart, I want to see and potray as teenage Prince T'challa into cinematical with no doubt. Mr John Singleton God Bless!!!!!
