It was confirmed a few months ago that Marvel's highly anticipated "Captain America: The First Avenger" would begin production June 28th, which was a week ago. And though the first filming location for the movie was said to be in the area of Manchester, England, apparently it may not be the first on Marvel's schedule.

Our friends at On Location Vacation have received the following from a local in the Manchester area...

"There has been some confusion in regards to the filming of ‘Captain America’ in Manchester. It is being reported that filming starts this week, however this is for a UK TV series called ‘The Acused’. ‘Captain America’ will be rolling into town in September and will be closing down streets in the northern quarter area of the city including Tariff St, Back Piccadilly and Hilton St. I work in the area and have spoken to people who have received notifications of filming in September. Production will then move to Caerwent, South Wales for 2 weeks to film war scenes."

The production crew is currently prepping for a September shoot in Manchester. And for that shoot, they're closing all of Hilton Street, and will be converted into 1940's New York removing street lights, and covering actual buildings on the street with false "New York" shops. And then apparently after, production will move to Caerwent, South Wales.

South wales, Caerwent, a village surrounded with ancient walls, has plenty of open space to mimic an epic battlefield between the atrocious Nazis and our star spangled avenger.

The Joe Johnston-directed movie stars Chris Evans, leading Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter), Hugo Weaving (Johann Schmidt/Red Skull), Tommy Lee Jones (Gen. Chester Philips), Stanley Tucci (Dr. Abraham Erskine), Neal McDonough (Dum Dum Dugan), Dominic Cooper (Howard Stark), Toby Jones (Arnim Zola) and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury). The film hits theaters July 22, 2011.
