i really dont see him as any of those people.. maybe Doc Strange at a push.. but i do like the idea of him being cast as a villain.

Hmmmm - my thinking would be he may wanna stay away from franchises for a bit.

Seeing as he is already associated with Batman and Terminator. Could be wrong tho.

And I could easily see he as Dr Strange HOWEVER the origins of that character are so similar to Batman Begins I am not sure he would see the story as 'different' enough for him to do it.

I really dont see Bale as turning to the dark side after the last Bats, if it will be the last Bats.
I honestly can see him keeping a distance from superhero franschises for a while after.

BMP!

Dr. Doom would be the choice I would go with. Could bring some real depth and angst to the character.

@Xenix I know all about that controversy, and I wrote it out in this piece. Marvel could do a one character deal for him. And with some of the great villains, I think marvel may have made addendums in the contracts about being able to use them still. Think I have seen that. I know that it's "if they're used in a film, we get their rights for 8 years" - something like that, "then they revert back if we don't use them," but we all know the problem there is that they're going to keep using them just to keep them.

@Intruder hell, that's a great idea. I should've included him. Was aware there were a few important ones I was missing, but it's great you guys put 'em up.

@Kerosene was also thinking that, would be much much better with Bale. Had thought about putting almost exactly what you said there.

It's not an issue of type casting. It is in fact quite a privelage to end up with a footprint in each of these universes. And if the trend continues, it's also going to be one of the few ways you can get a summer blockbuster acting gig. I see it staying pretty strong for another couple years myself.

@dellamorte1872 great that you mention Michael C. Hall; I've been watching Dexter for the passed 2 days - on dvd. First time I had seen it. It's mindblowingly awesome. He would do many dark sided characters justice.

My thinking on Dr. Strange is that character is incredibly innovative and important. And it's probably the most highly anticipated (aside from sequels) that Marvel/Disney still owns. It was a really exciting proposition when Guillermo Del Toro was set to it, but however it works out, it's going to have actors fighting over that role imo.

I did the reasearch to figure out which characters Marvel/Disney retains, but there aren't many places available that lay it out clearly. I think they keep it under lock and key on purpose.

Two reasons this more than likely wouldn't happen. Bale is such money for studios, they wouldn't consider making him the villain. Second would be he will probably do at least one more Terminator movie. Remember when he was asked to play John Connor, it was a bit part. He used his persuasiveness and weight to expand the part to a lead role.

I don't think any of the aforementioned roles fit him. He would need and probably want a lead with depth. Of course, it would also take a persuasive and high quality director to make him believe in a Marvel role that hasn't been done.

Every villain you mentioned will be done CGI and I don't see him playing any of the heroes you mentioned. I don't see Bale as ANY character in the Marvel Universe at all.

Christian Bale is indeed one of my favourite actors....and because he's done the broody stuff in the Batman franchise. i'd like him to do some kind of over the top role...i loved the jig he did before killing Paul Allen in American Psycho.

Mr. Sinister pic posted above is something that looks Bale!

@Ronnie11 I looked for quite a while, actually have been looking for months, and can't figure it out. I'll dig some more and see what I can find. As I said, know there is a contractual obligation that if Fox actually uses the character (or Columbia, or any studio), they retain the character for 4 or 8 years. Since the legal wrangling is essentially still underway with Disney having the money to reacquire the rights, I don't think they want the info public. I believe this was Avi Arad's doing, and part of the reason he's been pushed down. I don't think they're (Marvel) very happy about it. It's really, more or less, a big screw up.

@deaconblackfire that's a fair conjecture, and I do agree with you that the main reason he's stuck with the Batman franchise is because of Nolan, but he's shown plenty of interest in heroic character portrayal. There is no doubt in my mind, nor should there be, that if he were offered any A-list hero in a well written script, he wouldn't take it in a split second.

Thing is though, that if TDKR is as brilliant as alot of us are expecting, it will win a best picture nod, and it will push the trend in the industry even further, and everyone's going to try and perfect the cbm trilogy (it's already happening with Abram's Star trek). So we can look for at least 2 more years of cbms being on top.

I'm just gonna come out and say it; It's verly unlikely that Bale will appear in any other CBM at all after TDKR. He's not an actor to keep retreading the same genre/style. I don't even think he's a big CBM fan, he just liked the script for Batman Begins and liked working with Nolan (hence why he returned for TDK).
Good editorial though ;)

Seriously guys think about it!:) He would be [frick]ing terrific Count Dracula!:) If he likes to act complex characters, this role is for him! You dont find more complex character than marvels Dracula! He is both the hero and the villain!:)
God i would like to see that movie soon!

Christian Bale as Count Dracula (Little bit make-up would make him look more creepier. James Caviezel is my other choice)
Charlie Hunnam as Frank Drake
Sienna Miller as Dr. Racheal Van Helsing
Derek Jacobi, Anthony Hopkins or Liam Neeson as Dr. Quincy Harker
Idris Elba as The original non vampire Blade with wooden knives.
Someone indian actor as Taj Nital
Mike Fassbender or Stephen Moyer as Hannibal King
David Suchet as Inspector Chelm
Lynn Collins or Olivia Munn as Domini
John Malkovich as Deacon Frost
Sienna Guillory as Lilith
Paul Giamatti or Jesse Eisenberg as Harold H. Harold
Mads Mikkelsen as Lord Torgo Nia
With
Gary Oldman as Anton Lupeski
And
Ralph Fiennes as The Voice of Satan

@ 48and2

You're close, but you're a little off. Fox and Sony's deals don't say they have to use the CHARACTERS or they revert. Here's an example. Fox bought the rights to the Fantastic Four, and that includes all FF related characters and villains. So as long as they keep making FF movies, that means they keep the rights to all the FF related characters also. Another example would be all the characters we keep hearin will be in First Class. A lot of those characters haven't been used yet, and its been 10 years since the first X-Movie was made, yet they still have the rights to them.

Its the only way they could do it. Take the X-Men movies. The fist X-Men movie came out 10 years ago. If they were going to lose the rights to ALL of the X-Men's kick ass villains if they didnt use them, then Fox would have used other villains than Magneto by now. But they didn't, Magneto has been the main threat in every X-Men movie so far. I don't think Fox would let characters like Sinister, Apocalypse and everyone else from their rogues gallery slip through their fingers just because they didn't use them, y'know?

So yeah, character rights would only revert back if they didn't make a movie based on their respective franshises. :)

@Corndog makes good sense. Maybe I'm getting the Marvel contracts confused with DCs a bit. Thank you kind sir. Unfortunately a gigantic screw up for the exec. that pushed that through lol.

@alex unfortunately haven't read enough of the count dracula books to form an opinion on Bale's usage, but I like the way you put ideas together. Sounds like it may work well.

The reason why I think they're going to push Dr. Strange through as one of the first after Avengers, is 1. they want to get him introduced for tie ins, and 2. Ditko's artwork in that book will translate amazingly well on screen.

I'm not one who's all into cg over character or story of course, but Strange may actually be one of the few that translates well to 3d imo. And yeah the origin is very close to Batman Begins - Goyer in particular, probably took some of the ideas from it.

48and2@ Thanks! If you like old school Christopher Lee type of horror movies you should read The Tomb Of Dracula!:)... Its awesome!
The right director for the movie would be Guillermo Del Toro or David Fincher.
