Many fans assumed that Marvel's Netflix shows, consisting of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Defenders shows, will take place during the MCU, while others weren't quite sure. Joe Quesada recently confirmed on the Fat Man On Batman podcast that they will. “There will be some interconnectivity, much like the movies,” revealed Quesada. “They will exist within the cinematic universe again, so this is all the same world as S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers.” He also talked more about introducing street-level characters and elaborates on how unique the characters are and how they are different than the other characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “Although these are superhero stories, this is different now. This is the street level…this is the street level noir side of the Marvel Universe. Something that you haven’t really, really seen in any of our Marvel movies,” said Quesada. “And probably more ground level, than I think you’ve seen. This is not like us doing Batman, Dark Knight or any of that stuff. This is very Marvel doing street level superheroes.” He also says that they are starting to finish off their scripts to get the series started soon, and talk about how emotional some of them are.  “The scripts are coming in. They are pretty fantastic. They’re really emotional. They’re very, very original. But at the same time, it is Daredevil. It is Matt Murdock. We will eventually, hopefully start casting really, really soon, but I’m very, very excited about it.” With filming expected to start soon, we will all look out for some set photos in the future which should reveal the costumes in the series. Quesada reveals that we should expect to see the Daredevil series take place in Hell's Kitchen, which should hopefully excite many fans. “We’re shooting in New York. That’s the fantastic thing about it is that we’re shooting at home. We’re shooting where these characters belong,” said Quesada. “These stories take place in Hell’s Kitchen.” He described the Daredevil set briefly, saying that it "smells of dark alley, vomit, and piss." Which Netlfix series are you looking forward to the most? Sound off below!

Very nice :) Hey, what Jessica Jones is about? I am a Marvel fan, but I never read anything about her...
MrMartinMarvel - 4/27/2014, 10:11 AM
I can't wait for Daredevil! He deserves better than that [frick]ing Ben Affleck movie.
charlie2094 - 4/27/2014, 10:11 AM
Sounds great! Being set in the MCU was kind of a given, not sure why that was a question

"Street Level Noir" sounds perfect.

Super excited for Daredevil! Probably my most anticipated Marvel project, should be great. Not sure how involved Netflix is, but they've done some great stuff. Plus we get 13 hours on one day, be an amazing binge watch

Casting could be really important if any of these characters make it to the big screen...they have major cash to spend, hope they don't take the cheap route...
MrCBM56 - 4/27/2014, 10:22 AM
I'm most excited for JJ and Iron Fist

I need this in my life, like.....yesterday.

In describing the setting for Daredevil, Quesada said, “It smells of dark alley, vomit, and piss.” Sounds like what I'd expect from Daredevil! So hope this turns out well
V8ER - 4/27/2014, 10:29 AM
@DrDoom Is that Taskmaster?

I like what I'm hearing. Daredevil and Iron Fist are the comics I used to read as a kid because that's all I had cash for (50 cent pull box). Hope this kicks ass!

ezio619 - 4/27/2014, 10:36 AM
you know we bitch and we moan and people troll on this site and we argue about things but you know what... we are so lucky to be living in a time like this where our favorite superheroes and characters are being adapted to screen,its just a great time to be a superhero fan!!
BruceLeroy - 4/27/2014, 10:36 AM
Man, I'm glad this series is keeping the tone of the older comics. Dark and brooding atmosphere is the way to go with Daredevil.
MARVELFAN1995 - 4/27/2014, 10:37 AM
I wonder if all of the shows are origin stories? I think that would be the smart thing to do..
jimoakley666 - 4/27/2014, 10:37 AM
Was there REALLY any question that they wouldn't be set in the MCU?
ruadh - 4/27/2014, 10:39 AM
@V8ER

It's Mr Fear.
Highflyer - 4/27/2014, 10:40 AM
Awesome news!!1 This calls for a happy hulk out ;)
ruadh - 4/27/2014, 10:40 AM
@jimoakley666

I didn't think so either, but...whatevs. Now it's officical I guess...
charlie2094 - 4/27/2014, 10:41 AM
@ezio

Exactly! In 2015 alone we're getting an Avengers film, Ant-Man, Daredevil series, potentially another Netflix series and probably some abc show...and that's just Marvel Studios! Might not all be perfect, but amazing we're getting this amount of content

@MarvelFan

I imagine their origins will play a huge part of the series, but the pilot will probably more or less cover each of them
ezio619 - 4/27/2014, 10:41 AM
i was imagining the tone of daredevil to be somewhat akin to he current mark waid run where its light but has dark moments and themes like the MCU films but they seems to be going much darker which im not always a proponent of as along as it has serious moments in it but with DD it fits
MARVELFAN1995 - 4/27/2014, 10:48 AM
@Charlie

It would be cool to see DD's yellow suit in the series ! haha
FirstAvenger - 4/27/2014, 10:53 AM
When are these shows coming out?
ezio619 - 4/27/2014, 10:57 AM
charlie-yeah man, without these superhero films,i hardly get excited for any other films besides a few,for example this year,the non superhero films i am excited to see are Godzilla,dawn of the planet of the apes and interstellar (i need to rewatch the LOTR movies and the hobbit movies before seeing the last one,i watched the LOTR films when i was quite young),also before avengers 2 next year no movie interests me to see before avengers 2 so avengers 2 is gonna be my first film of 2015
ezio619 - 4/27/2014, 10:59 AM
thefirstavenger-they are coming out sometime next year
DukeAcureds - 4/27/2014, 11:11 AM
All of these are MCU? Oh Hells yes, bitches!
Everything IS awesome! Make mine muthafvcking Marvel!

Seriously can't wait for DareDevil, now. A whole series for DareDevil?! There is justice in this world. And justice is muthafvckin' blind! Boom!

I wonder if Drew Goddard is directing as well as just writing. I mean Cabin in the Woods was seriously the real deal, y'know?

Alias/Jessica Jones should be good, too.

And Heroes for Hire? For real? Fvck me. Multiple nerdgasms.
:)
Melkaticox - 4/27/2014, 11:19 AM
Should have taken place on Detroid...isn't Hell's Kitchen a peaceful...neighborhoood? Is it a neighborhood? Well whatever, nowadays?
marvel72 - 4/27/2014, 11:19 AM
can't f*ckin wait for daredevil,i'm so happy i've got netflix.
Pasto - 4/27/2014, 11:24 AM
Didn't we already know that this would be in the MCU? Question is when it takes place.
Melkaticox - 4/27/2014, 11:30 AM
@MARVELFAN1995 Isn't Daredevil's origin story kind of well known? Marvel is not into re-telling origin stories for their well-known characters (case in point: Hulk). I'm not sure how famous DD really is to the GA, though...

Oh my god, I'm so excited for these shows! I really hope Feige doesn't let Loeb ruin them, I would be very, very sad...

Kind of off-topic, but has anyone noticed Tony never lets anyone drive him? Wonder if that has to do with his parents dying in a car accident...or...the whole Afghanistan thing.
ATrueHero1987 - 4/27/2014, 11:45 AM
Uh, If I'm not mistaking, I believed it was confirmed already that these shows are also within the MCU? Anyway, I loved everything Joe Q said here!
xfan320 - 4/27/2014, 11:45 AM
I really think it would be cool if Michael C. hall actually auditions and GETS the role of DD, (I read that he was actually intrigued with playing the part) ONLY for the fact that he is getting up there in age...

I don't think all of these shows, especially Daredevil, should be origin stories... We already got the Affleck film, which is NOT the worst CBM out there...it would just feel like retreading territory that can easily just be alluded to... With casting an older actor, they can have the opportunity to just place him on SHIELD radar in the 80's/90's when he was young an in training. Maybe have DD as finally making his move in the modern MCU to take down the worst crime lords in the city..The biggest piece of supporting evidence to this type of thing is the Michael Douglas Ant-man. Marvel is starting to build a VERY cohesive universe with an established historical timeline of events/origins, global geography of characters, and not to mention an interstellar playground they're beginning to open up...

It's only just begun, y'all!
