How About Jean Luc-Bilodeau as the New Spidey?

How About Jean Luc-Bilodeau as the New Spidey? How About Jean Luc-Bilodeau as the New Spidey?

CBMer Other Side contacted me about a new pick for Peter Parker, for the rebooted Sony franchise and he may have changed my mind about the whole new Spider-man movie series. As most know i havn't said the best things concerning this new take, if it was up to me i'd reboot it, but from Spider-man 4. Anyway come on in and see the pick and mini poll...

As i said Other Side contacted me about a new candidate as Peter Parker and i think its quite a killer pick, he saw someone say the name ages ago in the comments section and told me all about it, yeah what was he thinking lol! : P

Anyways this article is mainly to see how Jean Luc-Bilodeau (Kyle XY) holds up with the heavy hitters (favorites) at CBM.com.

Jean-Luc Bilodeau:

Height
5' 8½" (1.74 m)

Born November 4, 1990, is a Canadian actor best known for his role as Josh Trager in the ABC Family channel program Kyle XY.

Bilodeau first appeared in a film called Ill Fated (2004) in which he played the role of young Bobby. He has been cast in a horror movie named Trick 'r Treat as Schrader, on DVD October 6, 2009.

Filmography

Ill Fated (2004) - as Young Bobby

Trick 'r Treat (2009) - as Schrader

Spectacular! (2009) - as the Star-Spangled Boy

16 Wishes (2010) - as Jay Kepler

Television

Kyle XY (2006-2009) airing on ABC Family.

Supernatural (Guest Star: "It's The Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester")

The Troop (Guest Star: as Lance Donovan in "Tentacle Face")

Strange Brew (2010 "Pilot")

I've seen the guy act and even took the time to check his acting ability on the show Kyle XY and i can say without a doubt i think we do have a winner here, you could believe this guy is a teenage high school Peter Parker, well he is actually 19 and looks a spitting image as Parker too.

I never really liked anyones picks that much, though to be honest I've been a bit biased as I've always liked Jake Gyllenhaal (Donnie Darko) as the rebooted Spider-man though that can't happen now as he's too old for the High school Pete.

I'm even thinking an Ultimate Spidey movie wouldn't be that bad as one, you can distance it far away from the Raimi franchise and two, if Marvel Studios or should i say when they get Spidey back they can start it all again and it'll feel fresh. Nothings confirmed yet but i'm like 85 percent believe Webb will want a Ultimate Spider-man movie just by picking this and that up with all his interviews.

Anyway be it Ultimate or be it classic lets hope we get a great Spider-man movie that we'll all love. Heres the other fan favorite picks, i think their all here:

Josh Hutcherson, Logan Lerman, Emile Hirsh, Aaron Johnson and Zac Efron.

Josh Hutcherson:

Height
5' 7" (1.70 m)

Joshua Ryan "Josh" Hutcherson (born October 12, 1992) is an American film and television actor. He began performing in the early 2000s, appearing in several minor film and television roles. He gained wider exposure with major roles in the 2005 films Little Manhattan and Zathura, the 2006 comedy RV, the 2007 family adventure film Firehouse Dog, the film adaptations of Bridge to Terabithia, Journey to the Center of the Earth and Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant. On March 30, 2008, Hutcherson won a Young Artist Award (for Leading Young Actor). Hutcherson was also featured on a Celebrity Teens edition of the hit show MTV Cribs. He is also set to play Robert in the Red Dawn remake.

I've seen Zathura but i don't remember him so i'm on the fence with this one.

Logan Lerman:

Height
5' 8" (1.73 m)

Logan Wade Lerman (born January 19, 1992) is an American teen actor from California, best known for his latest film, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, which was released in theaters on February 12, 2010. Lerman began appearing in television commercials in the mid 1990s, moving to work in feature films and television in the early 2000s, when he starred on the series Jack & Bobby (2004-2005) and in the feature films The Butterfly Effect (2004) and Hoot (2006). Lerman gained further recognition due to his role in the 2007 western 3:10 to Yuma, as well as his work in the 2009 films Gamer and My One and Only.

Now only beef i have with this guy is he already has a superhero franchise which is Percy Jackson.

Emile Hursch:

Height
5' 7" (1.70 m)

Emile Davenport Hirsch (born March 13, 1985) is an American television and film actor. He began performing in the late 1990s, appearing in several television films and series, and became known as a film actor after roles in Lords of Dogtown, The Emperor's Club, The Girl Next Door, Alpha Dog, and Into the Wild. In 2008, Hirsch starred in Speed Racer and Milk. He recently participated in Summit on the Summit, an expedition to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro to raise awareness of the need for clean water in the world.

Again only beef is he has a superhero franchise, Speed Racer, and also maybe he's a little too old for a teenage Peter Parker.

Aaron Johnson:

Height
5' 11" (1.80 m)

Aaron Johnson (born 13 June 1990) is an English actor whose professional work includes performances on stage, television, and in feature films. He began performing at age six, and appeared in films such as Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging and The Illusionist before graduating to starring roles in films such as Nowhere Boy, in which he played John Lennon, and the superhero movie Kick-Ass.

Didn't know he was English, well he sold me and would in fact be top if he hadn't already basically done Peter Parker in Kick-Ass, pity and basically he has a superhero franchise (you see a pattern here).

Zac Efron:

Height
5' 10½" (1.79 m)

Zachary David Alexander "Zac" Efron (born October 18, 1987) is an American actor and singer. He began acting professionally in the early 2000s, and became known to young audiences after his roles in the Disney Channel Original Movie High School Musical, the WB series Summerland, and the 2007 film version of the Broadway musical Hairspray. In 2007, right before the release of High School Musical 2, Rolling Stone declared him the "poster boy for tweenyboppers" and featured him in their late August 2007 issue.

Now where to start on Zac, heck i wont lol. Maybe he could pull it off i don't know, but i know one thing, i'd have have High School Musical tracks popping into my head every time i see him as Peter Parker at High School.

Oh one more for fun and hey maybe you'll even like, its another one from Other Side who is Steven R. McQueen:

Height
6' (1.83 m)

Steven R. McQueen (born July 13, 1988) is an American actor, best known for his recurring role as Kyle Hunter in Everwood. Since 2009, he has had a supporting role in The CW Television Network show The Vampire Diaries. McQueen is the grandson of Steve McQueen, the son of Chad McQueen, and the stepson of retired Canadian NHL hall of famer, Luc Robitaille.

Soon to be in the new Piranha 3-D movie, yay lol. I've seen this actor only act in Minute Men and he wasn't that bad, i could see him as Pete but i'm on the Jean-Luc Bilodeau boat me thinks.

Many thanks to Wikipedia and link below.

LEEE-777 - Okay vote below and i'd just like to say this is not a poll as such, CBMer OZY has already done that here, but you can go to one of his articles and vote there if you have not yet. Here is just to see how Jean-Luc Bilodeau holds up against the big guns and see if you really like the idea of this pick.

I for one thinks its a great pick, thanks for reading, comments below.

Otherside @ Kudos buddy!!!

ANIL @ LERMAN isn't a decent pick, in fact outta them all he's the last i'd want as PP lol! (Well maybe not lol)

And JIM STURGESS is TOO OLD!!!

Otherwise my personal favorite JAKE GYLLENHAAL would be up there! (well for a SPIDEY 4 he is anyways just not the rebbot! : D )

TEA @ Cheers dude, ANIL get some imagination!!! : P

Heh heh, yeah ya got a point, hey PP does have some ears on him! : P

Thanks for commenting guys!

I say none!!!! Sorry @LEEE!!!! I can't seem to think that anyone (besides Jake Gyllenhaal) could play Spidey... ;)

Wow LEEE great article/fancast. Didn't think you'd write anything for the Spidey reboot. Yeah I'd agree if Efron got the role, most people would be seeing High School Musical. If he actually branches out, does a different set of movies, and establishes himself as a decent actor then yeah I'd be for him... kinda, but I doubt that's gonna happen anytime soon and it sure as sh!t not gonna happen before 2012 so I vote he stay as far away from the movie as possible. I like your pick but I kinda agree with tea, those ears really stick out. Also he looks really young, like younger than he actually is. I dunno maybe he'll look a bit older by 2012 so we'll see. Hey if the kid can act I have no problem with him. Out of everyone here I'd be all for Aaron Johnson for the obvious reason. He pretty much played Peter Parker in Kick-Ass, and I think he did a great job, but I don't think they'll take him just for that reason. Even if they wanted him I don't think he'd take the role just cause its too similar to Kick-Ass. Putting in the vote for Steven R. McQueen. This is gonna sound kinda bad but I'm basing it off looks alone and I'm not really for the other actors I didn't say anything about. He definitely looks the part, he's a decent age for the role, and if he can act why the hell not? My personal pick is JGL but he's way too old, maybe if they did a continuation or a reboot outside of high school, but not for Ultimate Spider-Man. Oh well c'est la vie.

Overall LEEE, great read. I thoroughly enjoyed it ^_^

EDIT: The Hell?! There are actually 6 votes for Efron! Where the f*ck did that come from?

CRITIC @ I'm 100% will you there buddy!!!! Jake is SPIDEY, hell we really need that SPIDEY 4 reboot dude!

Heck why not both SONY? : P

Reilly @ Cheers for the comment dude! Yeah surprised me too writing this up heh heh.

I gotta agree about Aaron, i really like him too! Jean-Luc is nearly 20 dude, by 2012 heck he'll be 21 i think lol, yeah PP has ears and hell its HOLLYWOOD they can pin 'em back maybe if its that bigger prob lol.

I've seen KYLE XY and a few things like TRICK 'N' TREAT etc with him in, he can deff act and on screen the ears don't really stick out! ; D

Anyways just adding another for the fire and its Othersides picks, he asked me to do the article, glad i did, i can gun for JEAN-LUC for the Ulti-reboot!

Maybe by 2012 KICK ASS wont be so fresh that i can gun for Aaron, though I've heard theres gonna be a KICK ASS II?? Glad you enjoyed it bud!

Cheers for the comments guys!

ReillyParker
ReillyParker - 4/28/2010, 7:27 AM
@LEE: yeah there is gonna be a Kick-Ass II, judging from the book there was always gonna be one. So yeah I highly doubt Aaron is gonna be cast as Spidey, but hey anything can happen. If he is cast I think fans would start taking the reboot more seriously, since it would look like Sony is taking it seriously. We'll see what happens.

@lc: o_O` uh, I like your pic

JoshWilding - 4/28/2010, 7:28 AM
Sigh...how about none of the above, lol! Not that these are bad choices LEE - I just hate the thought of this reboot set in high school! ;( Lerman is still my top choices (and has been since the reboot was announced) but this Jean Luc kid looks ok as well!
ReillyParker
ReillyParker - 4/28/2010, 7:34 AM
Lerman would be up there but he pretty much has his hands full at the moment, and it's pretty much been announced they're not gonna cast him for the role, so I'm not gonna get my hopes up for him.

I'm debating between Jean Luc-Bilodeau and Steven R. McQueen

hmmmm we're probably gonna get some dude who's like 16-17

Bilodeau's my Kid-Flash/Wally West >.< it's hard for me to picture him as Spidey :P

I still think an unknown should get the role as long as the kid looks decently like the role and can act

Hutcherson face got all blocky since the kid hit puberty :/

JOSH @ Kudos dude, an i know what you mean about the high School thing, still what can we do?!?

LOGAN-X @ LOL! ; D

Dude i don't want this movie, i'm looking for the best outta a bad situation, and i didn't pick any of them up top lol, i'm so anti-reboot it hurts, JAKE for SPIDEY 4 is always first dude! Did this for OTHERSIDE, though i do like his pick a lot!

Gotbatman @ Cool dude and cheers man!! : p

P.S. KID-FLASH is DC, so its all cool! ; D

TEA @ : D

wolverinesfury @ I take it you never read the ARTICLE lmao, i did not pick any of them up top, its not a FAN-FIC dude, hence not in FAN-FIC! : P

Joseph Gordon Levitt is my pic even though i know it would be a stretch for him to play a high school teenager. Even tho he played one in brick but that was quite a few years ago but i think he is by FAR the best actor mentioned to play it. If he would even be willing.
ReillyParker
ReillyParker - 4/28/2010, 3:28 PM
Aw man I like how LEEE tries something a little positive regarding the Spidey reboot and then HE gets bashed on by people like Logan-X and wolverinesfury (there's a sort of irony in the names).

@Logan-X: I'm not denying that the studio has a mindset to attract the twilight crowd. They only look at this franchise in cash. They see they've been making money and that twilight has been making money. But the steps they have taken seem to be guiding the movie in a much better direction than Twilight or High School Musical. If you don't believe so then fine, if you're not gonna go see it fine, but why bash on others for having a little bit of hope? That's just self-righteous and rude. I get the whole voicing your opinion thing but at least be respectful to the guy you're talking to, at least if you want him to hear you out.

@wolverinesfury: Read the article or at least LEEE's comments. Dude's said he's not the one to pick them. If you had read the article you'd see the reason why Emile Hursch has so little votes is that he's too old for the role. He not the same guy from Girl Next Door, and I highly doubt he'd pass off as a High School-er anymore. And now why are you bugging out on a hot comic book chick hanging on a dude's nuts? Dude you should be happy for him. We need more girls like that in world.

@LEEE: Well even though I'm pretty sure you're still really against this reboot, glad you're trying to be a little more positive about this. Makes discussions like this a lot more interesting.

@lc: Welcome. ;) I just love hot comic book babes.

For the record guys, I'm not all for the high school reboot guys. I'd so rather we get a new cast and director for 4, or a "soft reboot" taking place outside high school, but that's not happening. I'm not all against the Ultimate reboot either. Since hearing the news I have picked up the first few volumes of Ultimate Spider-Man to gauge what possibilities it has for the movie. I had written an article about it and was gonna post it but it looked to me that the reboot hate had calmed down. Guess I was wrong. While I'm not a huge crazy fan of the comics I will say that they can translate very well onto the big screen. I'd even go as far as to say they'd been written to be turned into a movie. Like I said, not all for the reboot but not against it either.

I don't like any of the choices none of these actors seem like a spider-man type to me Peter needs to be a nerd and why is Efron on here he couldn't play a nerd if his life depended on it. Maguire was the perfect spidey and you all know it he was nerdy and was sort of sarcastic.

He seems ok.The others are either too sickly sweet or involved in other franchises.Plus a relative unknown is always easier to buy in an origin story. He could really make it his own.Saying that,I'm not looking forward to this reboot. Now that Marvel has Disneys hands all over it I live in fear of the Marvelverse's future.
