Speaking with
The Playlist, producer Andrew Kosove updated the status on Ridley Scott's upcoming
Blade Runner sequel, which is currently unknown as to whether or not it'll be a sequel/prequel. Despite Scott's comments last month saying that the film will be a sequel and likely won't feature Deckard (played by Harrison Ford in the 1982 original), Kosove says that whether or not it will be a sequel will be revealed within the next couple months, as well as confirming that the screenwriter will be announced around the same time. Kosove is also asked about whether or not the film will be Scott's next project after
Prometheus, saying that the film is a high priority for him and the project is going forward 'aggressively' in development.
On Ridley Scott's Interest In The Project And Where It's At In Development... Here's the thing about Ridley. Ridley is a special guy. He's a force of nature. He's got a lot of stuff that he's working on. I believe it's an extremely high priority for Ridley, that's what he's said to me. This project is moving forward aggressively in development.
On When We Can Expect An Official Announcement For The Film... Sometime in the first two months of the new year we'll announce who the screenwriter will be and whether or not it's a prequel or sequel. And then we'll be off to the races.
