Marvel has announced that a new programming block called Marvel Universe will be launched on Disney XD April 1st, later this year. Among the programs that will be aired are Ultimate Spider-Man (which will make its series premiere in April) and Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes (which will be returning for its second season). The Marvel website describes the program as the ultimate place for fans to find exclusive Marvel content, including animated shorts and live action interstitials. Below are the details in full...

Disney XD will launch Marvel Universe, a dedicated Marvel programming block, with the new series "Ultimate Spider-Man" as its centerpiece, on Sunday, April 1, it was announced today by Gary Marsh, President and Chief Creative Officer, Disney Channels Worldwide at the Television Critics Association Press Tour in Pasadena, California. Marvel Universe on Disney XD will be the ultimate place for fans to find exclusive Marvel content, including new animated short-form series, live-action interstitials and the series return of "Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes!" The block will be home to Marvel's biggest superstars, such as Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America and many more to introduce dynamic stories of action, adventure and heroism to a whole new generation.

Marsh said, "Iconic Marvel heroes and villains and stories with core values of accomplishment, discovery and growth make Marvel Universe a perfect complement to Disney XD and a destination for parents and kids to experience together."

"Marvel Universe block is an incredible animated ride filled with fantastic action and adventure," said Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel Television. "The spectacular team of writers and animators capture stories with all the dynamic fun you can imagine. Disney XD is the perfect place for families and Marvel fans of all ages to come together every Sunday."

Awesome can't wait! Lets hope that Ultimate Spider-man is good and can exist in the same universe as EMH! :) Perhaps they could do a cross over episode even?

superotherside@ even if they don't exist in the same universe... this is cartoons! produced by disney on a disney channel, plus if the rules of comics appply there's absolutley nothing stopping this crossover sometime down the line! i bet it'll happen.

Ultimate Spider-man looks like it'll be alright.

I still don't understand why Disney has to do this whole "separation of the genders" thing by putting most of the material aimed at boys on Disney XD. Shouldn't they know that not everyone can get that cable package?

No not like CN's "DC Nation" at all...

Ultimate Spider-Man looks good. I hope it'll live up to Spectacular Spider-Man seeing as they cancelled it because of this shows development...

Aaaaaarrrggh! April!!!! That's like basically a year gap between the end of the first season of Avengers and the beginning of the second. I hope they have a 3rd season waiting in the wings since they had all this extra delay time. I'm guessing the Hulk animated series will join this block in the fall.

Most curious about: the short for animations... and this live-action interstitials. Who's starring in those? What are they going to be about?

I feel like the Ultimate Spiderman is drawn a little too bulky.

EMH is coming back? You mean, something on TV is actually worth watching now!! Heck Yes! lOved the first season

They make way too many Spiderman cartoons. I'd rather see a Fantastic Four/Silver Surfer/Inhumans or New X-Men cartoon.

Cartoon Network > Disney

They're not copying DC Nation. DC Nation has a wider audience.

Woot! I can't wait for EMH Season 2.

I wasn't expecting the second season to premiere before The Avengers movie was released, so I'm happy we're getting it a month sooner.

@PaulRom Nice find!

@Dawnelldo- This isn't the first time either DC or Marvel have had a "block" of television dedicated specifically for their characters.

Can't wait for Season 2 of EMH, I can't wait to see all the new characters introduced into the show. I hope this will be the start for many spin-offs. I can see an Avengers Academy cartoon show. A new X-men animated series to have a true home would be pretty cool too. Then do an epic 2 hour special of Avengers VS X-men animated feature.

Excited about Earth's Mightiest Heroes Season 2...Here's hoping that the new episodes will be at LEAST as good as Justice League Season 1.

...It'll never touch JLU though.

Digging the new designs. Also can't wait to see Dr. Doom Causing havoc in the Marvel U.

Ultimate Spider-Man gets a big "meh" from me. Marvel will put out any piece of crap product with Spider-Man on it. If they start treating the character with respect, I might become interested in him again.

1. This better not be an April Fool's Joke due to the date.

2. Looks like Disney XD is all Marvel (due to the merger obviously) and Cartoon Network is all DC Comics. SWEET!

Hmm... where have I heard this before? A television block devoted to one companies' entire line up of Comic book related shows? Yeah, sounds like a DC Nation ripoff but oh well. U MAD MARVEL? *Trollface*

Hmm... Though season two of Avengers: EMH does make me happy.

OK, here's the way it's going down everyone, they will play the first half of season 2 until after the Avengers movie is over then wait until Thor 2 comes out in 2013. I don't get these numballs, I'm fed up. If they show it I'm OK, if not I'll find something else.
Bah! Don't get me wrong I love this show but it's nearly as if they want people to get fed up and stop watching.

I'm glad to finally know when EMH will be returning. That has been one of the best animated superhero series I've ever seen, and I've been looking forward to new episodes for seemingly a long time now. I hope that this delay has given them the extra time to write stories on the level of the first season's greatness.
