Speaking with Bad Taste, actress Sigourney Weaver talks about her involvement with the upcoming sequels to Avatar, the 2009 sci-fi film directed by James Cameron which is now the highest grossing film of all time. Originally confirmed by Cameron himself that Weaver will return for the first sequel, the actress also confirmed that she'll reprise her role of 'Grace Augustine' in both follow-ups, while also saying that she's read early drafts for the sequels. She also comments on what the sequels will explore, in addition to when Cameron will begin filming.

"I read early versions of the script, but I can not say anything else James Cameron comes here and kills me. I can say that I’ll be in both, we will turn them one after another and explore worlds that were not touched in the first episode… What is certain is that Cameron will begin filming in the new Avatar only after going underwater in a submarine that will build special purpose. I think it should go up to the Mariana Trench. Having put his hand on the Titanic for the 3D version has given him many ideas for narrative Avatar."

Personally dont care if it gets made either way, I thought the original one was way too overrated.
Its basically the same movie as Ferngully.

Umm.... Spoiler alert! ;P

Would be cool and very challenging filming completely under water.

Namor should be like that but with Marvel Studios.... We'll see him under water 1/4 of the time and if so, he'll be a dome like kingdom. So.... He'll be dry all the time haha XD

Still haven't seen the first one in 3D...
Does anyone know when the 3D Blu-Ray comes out (without being bundled with a Panasonic 3D TV) ?

Cant wait for the sequel. So I guess we all know her character is returning. Thats cool Weaver is like my favorite female actress anyway.

I wonder what they're gonna do with Norm in the sequels

They might as well just go and tell us what it is really about, its not like we are going to remember what she said by 2016 anyways, thats four years from now...FOUR YEARS!

She turns into a nice Weed farm and the Navi smoke her like Old Tobey and get high as [frick]. Once the Navi become lazy and unproductive, their food crops begin to dwindle from mass munchies. Jake make sully himself once again before they discover crack.

^NoRegrets: That is true. He's created some amazing movies, but at the same time, as awesome as Avatar was, we can all agree the story is something we've already heard/seen somewhere else. What I want for the sequels is more unique experiences/stories. Something to really blow us away both with and without 3D

@ThreeBigTacos Agreed completely. The main flaw with Avatar was definitely the plot, which more or less is Pocahontas with a sci-fi twist. Otherwise I thought the movie was great.

This honestly sounds promising.

I like the fact that she said Cameron will be exploring new worlds. I'm hoping that plays out like SW 4,5,&6 did, where Lucas took us all over the galaxy.
Could be interesting.

@yossarian The plot wasn't necessarily bad IMO, it just seemed too unoriginal here and there. And I agree that it's a great spectacle, the visuals were really mindblowing.

I still don't agree with people saying transformers dotm was a great 3d film. It looked like every other shitty 3d movie that gives u a headache halfway through. Plus that movie was one of the worst things I've ever seen thrown together. Avatar is still the only movie to date I've enjoyed in 3d and if you're complaining about how similar its plot is then hate 90% of movies made today cause they're all the same

"Just like spiderman and banes suit eh neo ? spiderman got a racing stripe and he sucks, bane gets an overhaul and Nolan deserves an oscar."-Morty

You are the most skillful Failsman this site has ever known. If you can quote me anywhere on this site praising Nolan for Bane's "overhaul" as Oscar-worthy, I'll stop embarrassing you. Until then, you're either a gutless liar or you're dumb.

Which is it?

...I am actually kind of wondering just exactly how Sigourney Weaver will be included in the Avatar sequels, especially since her character killed-off in the first one here, ya know?... *curious*; *cool*; P :)
