HOLY SHIT! THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS is the next animated DC movie!!!! WIN!!! I can't wait! Arguably one of the best Batman stories ever!

...but why are they doing it in parts?

Yeah, the trailer kinda convinced me to skip this one (unless I hear rave reviews). The bonus features sound great though.

@JayOh
probably because they know if they dont adapt that one right and get as much of the story and details in it as possible we'll all have their heads on a pike

"The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1" - so it will be divided into two parts? Anyway, that's enough special features, I guess (foremost the Truth, Justice, and American Way digital copy); I'll just get the DVD, though.

It is one of the BEST Superman stories of the modern era. All I can say is this...

PLEASE HAVE THE LEX/SUPERMAN ENCOUNTER ON LEX'S ISLAND!!!
PLEASE HAVE THE LEX/SUPERMAN ENCOUNTER ON LEX'S ISLAND!!!
PLEASE HAVE THE LEX/SUPERMAN ENCOUNTER ON LEX'S ISLAND!!!
PLEASE HAVE THE LEX/SUPERMAN ENCOUNTER ON LEX'S ISLAND!!!

LEX - 'How did you find me? I made sure this was off the grid!

S - ***FLOATING***

LEX - You, you memorized my heartbeat didn't you?!?'

No short? Fail. ;P

IDK, this one doesn't look nearly as good. I'll watch but not expecting much.

That poster looks far better than the animation in the movie. We watch better animation in 30 minute episode on the cartoon network.

How about we move away from Superman and Batman and do some other characters DC? How about Judas Contract or Crisis on Infinate Earths? It seems like DC does Superman, Batman, and then a lesser character like GL then back to Superman or Batman.

@JayOh- the are doing it as a two parter so they can stay closer to the source. They said there was too much for one movie. Plus it is an experiment to see how well the idea of a two pater works, because SUPPOSEDLY, they might tackle "The Sinestro Corps War" as a two parter as well

ohhh come on. there is no short on this one either?? There was no short on DOOM either which was a disappointment. great movie, but GIVE US MORE SHORTS IF THEY AREN'T GOING TO MAKE OTHER MOVIES THAN JUST BATMAN AND SUPERMAN!

I so can't wait for an animated TDKR! I've heard some Batman veterans will be involved, so I'm hoping for Kevin Conroy as Batman (it'd be great to hear him voice an older Batman again), but I don't think mark hamill will come on board. He said "Arkham City" would be his last time voicing the Joker, and since Clancy Brown is providing voice work as Lex Luthor for Lego Batman but they have someone else for the Joker in that, I'd say he's done sadly. If so bring back John DiMaggio as the Joker from "Under the Red Hood," as I think his version would fit TDKR very well.

Does DC have any stories where Batman or Superman aren't involved? It would be nice if an animated feature focused on someone new every once in a while.

Why don't they do a Nightwing animated, screw this Superman crap!
churchgriff
churchgriff - 3/16/2012, 10:17 AM
The reason they don't do anything other than Superman or Batman animated movies is money. It costs nearly 3.5 million to make these movies and the two Green Lantern and the single Wonder Woman movies only made less than 7 million in sales each. Because of this DC animated decided to focus on Batman and Superman since they know they will be able to make a better profit from them. I for one do wish that they would use some of their other characters for animated movies, but don't see it happening.

I really like the extras on these DC animated flicks. The second one: "Superman and the Moral Debate" is one I am looking forward to seeing.

Amazing story.

Glad to hear TDKR will be in multiple parts. There's no way they could have jammed that story into 80 minutes without destroying it.

Batman/Superman: Public Enemies: Revisted"

What are these remakes or re-releases?
Phlegmbot
Phlegmbot - 3/17/2012, 12:18 AM
maybe we'll finally see a Superman that's NOT being portrayed as either a douchebag or a pussy. Every movie -- and a couple of TV iterations following JLU -- has him as one or the other.

Anyone see JL: Doom? How stupid does Superman have to be to get that close to a robot to realize it's NOT a human? Never mind that earlier in the same movie he gets his ass kicked by a robot for several minutes before he beats it.

He's freakin' Superman! He'd melt a #@$!@$# robot in passing as he goes to kick some ass on the other side of the country.
BatSlam
BatSlam - 3/17/2012, 10:03 AM
@phlegmbot, that is the problem with superman, it is hard to write a story of adversary for someone who is basically an indistructable god.
