New IRON MAN 3 Villain Details Revealed

More info about the villains in Marvel Studios' third Iron Man film has been revealed, including who exactly Ben Kingsley is playing and how large of a role Guy Pearce's Aldrich Killain has.

Marvel Studios' third Iron Man movie (which is described as "a huge tech-James-Bond-thriller") is currently filming in Wilmington, North Carolina, and now we have some more info on what we can expect from the threequel's villains (played by Ben Kingsley and Guy Pearce). Latino Review, who has been doing a great job of revealing exclusive details on the film's production, has confirmed that (possible spoilers) that Kingsley will be playing none other than The Mandarin (despite Marvel's denying that the character will make an appearance). Yesterday, we heard that Mandarin will be the villain, but that there will be 'twins' who work for him. However, Latino Review is saying that this isn't true.

Additionally, the site says that Mandarin won't have as big of a role as Aldrich Killian (played by Guy Pearce), who is said to be the primary antagonist of the film. Killian is the man who invents "Extremis" and an "Extremis army". Lastly, William Sadler's reps and Marvel both said "No Comment" when asked about the actor's involvement (which was another scoop that Latino Review recently broke).

Directed by Shane Black and starring Robery Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall and James Badge Dale, Iron Man 3 is set to hit theaters May 3rd, 2013.

Guy pearce as the villain [frick] yes I am sold. I believe pearce was on the wish list of actors marvel wanted to play stark so its kinfa funny that he's playing the villain. Same thing happened Cillian Murphy I believe.

I wonder if Hammer is gonna make some sort of appearance in this?? Would be cool - kind of liked Sam Rockwell.

A couple of years will have passed since his incarceration so he maybe about.

Love Guy Pearce too. He was alwayd my fave to play Dr Strange.

I can see Kinglsey as the Mandarin. Play him as a brit that has grown up and fully embraced the culture, but it's more Imperialistic past.

Oh god an "extremis army"? enough of armor supervillains. But I think it's cool that Mandarin role is not that big, maybe they can just bring him and give him a bigger role on a fourth movie.

ben kingsley will be fantastic. i have absolutely zero problem with tony fighting more armored villans but i think they have big plans for iron man 3. theres no way that anyone involved is going to let this movie suck, im2 was sub par and they are aware of that. coming off of the avengers it seems like they are only going to be doing a better job, all the details cominhg out about im3 and thor2 sound fantastic. make mine marvel (along with some darkknight rises amazingness and MOS amazingness.) its going to be a good couple of years!

I doubt they're gonna make Ben Kingsley British as the Mandarin. They're probably gonna make him middle eastern like those guys from the Ten Rings in IRON MAN.

Mandarin will need to be in additional films in order for his storyline to play out in the most effective way.

Gman20@ We haven't seen anything as to how Mandarin is going to look or be depicted as a character yet and all we have is rumor at this time. If we start seeing images and footage where he is far from the source, then I will be the first to express disappointment. But, I am a Marvel and DC fan who likes CBM's that bring the comic to life on screen. If it feels like I am seeing the actual comic on screen, I am happy.

Marvel has really cast great actors/ actresses for their Movies (Hopkins, Tommy Lee Jones, Kingsley, RDJ, Bridges, SLJ, Rene Russo, Paltrow, etc)
And Nolan's Batman (Gary Oldman, M Caine, M Freeman)

You know what?

I kinda like the idea of the Mandarin being the mastermind behind the whole IM3 plot instead of showing the powers he has in the comics... yet.

Because without Dr Strange the whole magical concept of the character wouldn't be nicely explained in this movie.

And we know Marvel usually keeps the characters essence when possible.

I'm cool with that. It will also nice if they tie him with the 10 rings organization shown in IM1.

BTW, what a cast they're assembling! Wow!

Just watched Extremis Graphic Comic, hated it every bit as much as when i read it the 1st time. Mallen is officially the most boring super villain in history.

Will we get the bleeding edge armour in this one? I'd love to see that on the big screen!

It sounds as if they're setting The Mandarin up for something... I hope they don't make him like Mickey Rourke in Iron Man 2 and have a 1 minute fight scene..

I love The Mandarin and he would be a brilliant villain if done right so... do him right! :)

ive heard many times the rings are tech based and came off a space ship.but not sure if its true.

both of the whiplash/iron man fights were over 1 min. in im2,but witch fight was you talking about.

I kinda figured that they would go this road.
Ben is gonna be great.

I hope Killian makes himself his own armor maybe with the extremis.
I would like to see Iron Man fighting someone his size for a change. It would be much more intense.
Best Iron Man fight so far has been Iron Man vs Thor.

@53 You too, man. That's we roll on this site. I'm just so freaking stoked for this movie. We finally get to see an appearance of the Mandarin. Just stoked. But the thing that I'm most interested in and questioning at the moment is if they'll introduce Mandarin's ten magical/mystical rings. I mean, I don't think there was any mentioning of these rings, and if they do decide to bring them in the IM3 movie, how will they explain how he acquired them. It'll be interesting for sure.
