Just got back from seeing it. I loved it! 3D was the best I've seen, and the effects are awesome. The story is great, and very tense.

Just got back, it was a waste of time, didn't even tie up with Alien correctly. Posed more questions than it answered and was full of characters doing stupid things for the contrived sake of getting into trouble onscreen rather than because they were following protocol. Another perfect example of how prequels ruin original movies.

The only reason they made this movie was to spawn another franchise form the Alien movie going in another direction than the Xenomorph. In the end, I really wasn't left giving a damn about who created the human race let alone why they would want to destroy us all over again.

@CoolantTek - couldn't care less what you consider classy, the point is the movie was contrived horribly unlike the original.. example **SPOILERS**

The Nostromo was only a company vessel but it had a crew of whom everyone had a specific job, as an audience you knew the value of the characters and they knew their purpose. In Prometheus, other than the two Doctors, the Pilots and the she-bitch in charge, there are so many hangers on that serve no real purpose other than to be killed off like some teen horror movie.

The first two to die die because they couldn't follow a straight line back to the ship, they have up to date navigation systems freshly mapped charts from the sensors they deployed yet they somehow get lost in a ship that runs in one straight line? Worse still one of the characters claims he's only there for the money like some mercenary and then he states later he's a Rock specialists and then he runs scared at the first sight of an alien fossil? That's some wildly different characterizations for one person to display!

The other idiot scientist who was with him is terrified at the same first sight of an alien that's been dead for millions of years instead of fascinated, loses his way home with the other idiot and while forced to spend the night in the alien ship decides he simply has to stroke the first LIVE alien creature he sees with predictable consequences! Doesn't like dead Aliens but LOVES live ones?

And hows this for brains? The high evolutionary Aliens that they call 'engineers' who created us literally for no reason given want to destroy us. The very last one of them in existence wakes up and promptly starts killing everyone who looks remotely human like some madman and then proceeds to fly to Earth to wipe humanity out of existence millions of years after they created it.. why? He doesn't even spend 5 minutes getting to know every ones names or favorite colors!

There are a string of these but the real clanger is the end, why does a woman who in the last 24 hours has been impregnated, had a c-section in record time administered by herself, her gut stapled back together, had a spaceship the size of Ohio fall on her, lost the love of her life to a self requested BBQ via flamethrower (Yes again!) and seen all the work she's invested all her life into reversed on its head and go up in flames... yet she decides to steal an alien ship and go looking for more of these Engineers to ask why they want to kill us rather than go home and seek medical help and warn the authorities?

..erm, the last Engineer wasn't exactly Mr explanation?, Duuuh? And if there were more of these guys, wouldn't Earth already be toast since that's their agenda? Even if they were sleeping why would you want to wake them up and get beaten like a loony toon again?

Visual stunning movie, no common sense to the narrative other than being contrived to spawn a franchise with another different Alien.

And when you watch Alien again for the umpteenth time, take a look at where the space jocky is sitting with his chest exploded out and see where it happens in Prometheus? the two don't tie up remotely, he's not even got his helmet on and he's on an earth Shuttle instead of the cockpit of his own ship!

And yes, they go through all the trouble to crash the alien ship in the same position that the crew of the Nostromo find it it too, just not the dead alien!

Uh Ceejay, The ending isn't suppose to be the same as Alien. This film takes place and ends on LV 226 while Alien takes place on LV 426. It isn't the same Jockey or ship or planet. I agree with you about the rest of the plot holes and dumb unexplained choices, BLAME DAMON LINDELOF 100%! How was the Holloway infected by D8? How does the ship land on Vickers? Thanks
