It's been a decade since Bruce Wayne hung up his cape, following most of the other superheroes who had been forced into retirement. Facing the downside of middle age, a restless Bruce Wayne pacifies his frustration with race cars and liquor – but the bat still beckons as he watches his city fall prey to gangs of barbaric criminals known as The Mutants.

The return of Harvey Dent as Two-Face finally prompts Wayne to once again don the Dark Knight’s cowl, and his dramatic capture of the villain returns him to crime-fighting – simultaneously making him the target of law enforcement and the new hope for a desolate Gotham City. Particularly inspired is a teenage girl named Carrie, who adopts the persona of Robin and ultimately saves Batman from a brutal attack by the Mutant leader. Armed with a new sidekick, and re-energized with a definitive purpose, the Dark Knight returns to protect Gotham from foes new...and old.

The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 is set to hit DVD, Blu-Ray, Download and OnDemmand September 25th. Part 2 will be available in early 2013.

@ElChavo-BLASPHEMY!!! That is an epic scene that everyone knows. Pick up the graphic novel before watching this film and you will understand the epicness of this movie.

THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 9/5/2012, 4:48 PM
Did you guys like the year one movie?
ShibblastFromThePaztSon - 9/5/2012, 4:55 PM
loved year one... wet myself with this clip
CaptainKilgore - 9/5/2012, 5:13 PM
As long as it doesn't have the stupid 80's slang in it, should be good. The slang always bothered me.
AverageJoe - 9/5/2012, 5:17 PM
I will be picking this up the day it goes on sale, as well as the Avengers...first day...will be watching them the same night I pick them up. I hope they get the green-light to turn the DKR in live action, it deserves it.

@ ElChavo: I have to side with everyone else, dude. The Dark Knight Returns really is a must read for any comic book fan. You should check it out but if you don't get to it before the movie comes out, no big loss. I'm sure you'll still enjoy it either way.
marvel72 - 9/5/2012, 6:53 PM
@ THEDARKKNIGHT1939

batman year one was good but abit short, they could of made each issue of the comic 20 minutes long,so batman 404-407(year one) would of had a run time of 80 minutes instead of 64 minutes we got.

personally i think batman under the red hood is still the best batman animated movie.
Saintsinnister - 9/5/2012, 7:19 PM
The graphic novel is a must read for anybody who conciders themselves a batman fan! Come on you dumb kids, get with the program! This movie will be better than anything else DC has done so far. Too bad Frank Miller turned into a tool, I really wanted to see All Star Bat Man and Robin become as engaging as this story. BTW What is up with this site lately? The main page is friggin lame. This is the best thing i have seen on here in over a month.
Tevii - 9/5/2012, 7:21 PM
Awesome. Something to wash away the bad taste of TDKR.
Cant wait.

@averagejoe - I agree with you, but I somehow doubt they will greenlight a The Dark Knight Returns movie when TDKR was so influenced by this graphic novel.
IT even uses some of the exact same dialogue.... except this one is done well and is true to batman
Tevii - 9/5/2012, 7:23 PM
... even Bane was just a repplacement for the Mutant leader
CaptRogers - 9/5/2012, 8:32 PM
@Marvel72,

Totally agree, I don't know why Under the Red Hood doesn't get more love. It's pretty damn accurate to Winnicks story/script and the portrayal of the joker was very original. That last scene is incredible.
TheSoulEater - 9/5/2012, 8:52 PM
THE LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWW
GoILL - 9/5/2012, 9:53 PM
September 25th is gonna be a great day for comic book fans.
Scabsallover - 9/5/2012, 10:31 PM
I HATED issue 2.
AverageJoe - 9/5/2012, 10:32 PM
Thanks Tevii, I still haven't seen TDKR so I wasn't aware of the dialogue conflict. I know, I know, I'm a a$$ for not going to see TDKR yet, I will...soon...I promise.
MarkV - 9/5/2012, 10:33 PM
Graphics and ambiance has been tight, but all the voice work has been shallow. Hope they nail Joker, cause Weller has been borderline weak as Batman.
thalidomide - 9/5/2012, 10:35 PM
Can't wait for this! This will be more comic book accurate than the previous Batflick.
Deadpool101 - 9/6/2012, 12:19 AM
looks sick I'm stoked to get this
PenditaMarah - 9/6/2012, 1:01 AM
Tevill,
you're correct.eventhough the dark knight rises was a basically taken from the no man's island, but the stroy was also heavily influence from the dark knight returns.the different is,the sons of batman was replaced by a group of cops in tdkr movie, the batman appearance in the parking lot,the old timer police telling the young cops while batman fighting with the bane's geng...etc...

batfan175 - 9/6/2012, 1:35 AM
this looks nice but the voice acting is the definition of "meh".
iuhgluiblbjjkhkjhkljh - 9/6/2012, 6:36 AM
I'm still excited for Michael Emerson's Joker.
GoILL - 9/6/2012, 7:26 AM
@thalidomide

I'm pretty sure that's the point since this is just the The Dark Knight Returns in animated form.
PeterParker1991 - 9/6/2012, 12:26 PM
Saw this in the Animated Series: Legends of the Dark Knight.
agentwhatshisface - 9/6/2012, 5:40 PM
