During an interview with Film Music Reporter, film composer Marco Beltrami - whose latest movie, Trouble With The Curve, is hitting theaters this week - reveals that he has signed on to score 20th Century Fox's upcoming comic book adaptation The Wolverine, which sees Hugh Jackman once again donning the claws of arguably the most popular X-Man. James Mangold (who previously worked with Beltrami on the 2007 Western film 3:10 To Yuma, which gave the composer his first Academy Award nomination) is directing a script written by Christopher McQuarrie (Valkyrie) and Mark Bomback (Unstoppable). The Wolverine follows Logan/Wolverine in Japan, where he confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will change him forever. The film (which is set for a July 26th, 2013 theatrical release) also stars Will Yun Lee, Svetlana Khodchenkova and Hiroyuki Sanada, among others. The movie is currently filming in Japan.

Who is Marco Beltrami?

You'd think IMDB (or film credits) had never been invented.

As for Zimmer, he was good back in the day before he started to become a caricature of himself. Not as bad as James Horner for blatantly ripping himself off (Aliens = Patriot Games for example) but Zimmer has definite short-cuts and tried and tested methods when it comes to his compositions of late.

TDKR is his weakest Batman score IMHO because he didn't have the more subtle hand of James Newton Howard reining him in and providing the more emotional elements.

TOM ROTHMAN IS GONE AND ANY MOVIE MODE AFTER HIS DIPARTURE WILL BE GREAT INCLUDING COMICBOOK MOVIES HE HAS SAID AND I QUOTE "There won’t be any giant robots in any movie my studio makes" X-MEN INCLUDED IN THAT STATEMENT BUT HE'S NOW FIRED AND THAT RULE IS NOW DEAD ALONG WITH HIS SHITTY FILM MAKING MICROMANAGING PROCESS CAN'T WAIT FOR FOX TO START MAKING R-RATED FILMS AGAIN

Hmmm. I always think of his hokey horror scores in things such as Scream and all their rip offs. But he has worked with Guillermo Del Toro before on Blade 2 and Hellboy. And if memoery searves, he did a pretty good job on Three Burials.

i'm looking forward to anything that washes the taste of origins outta my mouth

Done some research and realized this dude has composed some scores I've really enjoyed (Hellboy, 3:10 to Yuma, etc.), so this seems like a good choice. He's also worked with Mangold before, which means they probably click creatively.

Reboot this franchise, make it rated R and cast Tom Hardy as Wolverine.
