In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

Originally slated for a March release, Elysium (which also stars Wagner Moura, Sharlto Copley, William Fichtner and Diego Luna) was recently pushed to August 9th, 2013.

I can see Blomkamp's thing is gonna be sci fi with a lot of social commentary. They should've given him the Twilight Zone movie. On topic, Elysium sounds like it'll be a great film.

It says KAWASAKI on his gun harness..damn those Japanese can make anything!
sameoldthing - 11/19/2012, 7:50 AM
Or is that just a body harness to improve his strength? Jap tech is cool.

i liked district 9.

but this looks like it'll have more ham-fisted social commentary. someone needs to tell blomkamp that subtlety is the key with these sort of subject matters.
