Shawn Ashmore On X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST & Working With Kevin Bacon On FIRST CLASS

Ashmore, who played Bobby Drake/Iceman in the X-Men trilogy, reiterates that he hasn't heard about returning to the role for Days Of Future Past. He also looks back on comparing notes with Kevin Bacon on First Class when they were shooting The Following.

Speaking with Huffington Post at the premiere of FOX's The Following, actor Shawn Ashmore discusses his interest in returning as Bobby Drake/Iceman in director Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days Of Future Past after playing the character in the first three films. We previously heard him say that he hasn't heard anything from Singer or the studio about potentially reprising the role, and it's still the case here. "Honestly, at this point I have no idea. What's exciting is Bryan Singer's back, which is amazing. He was amazing to work with. I would love to come back and play Bobby again. I played the part three times, I got to grow up playing that part, which is incredible. It's so rare. If it happens, i would love to play that part. The moving is happening, so I have to wait and see how it all comes together." With many actors from the original trilogy expected to reprise their roles (Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan are set to return as Wolverine, Professor X and Magneto, respectively), it wouldn't be surprising to see Ashmore's Iceman return.

The actor also shares his thoughts on X-Men: First Class, which features his The Following co-star Kevin Bacon as the villainous Sebastian Shaw. He also looks back on comparing notes when they were working on The Following. "I loved 'First Class.' I thought Matthew Vaughn did a great job. I thought Kevin Bacon did a great job. We've had some 'X-Men' conversations. They shot some of 'First Class' down in Atlanta, which is where we shot the pilot, so we just kind of talked about that and the experience of making it," Ashmore said. "They're huge films. It's such an undertaking, so it's amazing to get stories from the movies you're not on. It's all very similar: the scheduling and the craziness and the special effects and 'Oh my god, that scene, it's 10 seconds in the movie, but it took five weeks to shoot.' Stuff like that."

Would you like to see Shawn Ashmore reprise his role as Iceman for a fourth time? Who else would you like to see from the original X-Men trilogy to appear in Days Of Future Past?

X-Men: Days Of Future Past stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Jennifer Lawrence, Hugh Jackman and Nicholas Hoult. The film is set to hit theaters July 18th, 2014. Additionally, The Wolverine is scheduled for a July 26th release, while Fantastic Four will arrive March 5th, 2015.

Hope he's back. But I'm hoping he's killed by a sentinal. Nothing personal, I just think that all the X-Men, except Logan and Kitty, should die.
jimoakley666 - 1/19/2013, 9:43 AM
I hope, in the time-frazzle, he gets rebooted as a jokester version of Iceman, as in the comics, instead of the mini Cyclops wannabe he was in the other films.
RorMachine - 1/19/2013, 9:54 AM
Yeah he was good as a young, less cocky Bobby. If he reprises it it might be nice to see him with a bit more personality.
jimpinto24 - 1/19/2013, 9:55 AM
I would love to see Shawn Ashmore return as Bobby Drake.
DrDoom - 1/19/2013, 9:56 AM
Meh. Where my real Iceman at? Rather have that than this personality-less dork.
Slider13 - 1/19/2013, 10:02 AM
Have you seen this guy lately? He's put on a few pounds and wouldn't look like Iceman anymore, it'd be more like Frosty. Time for a recast and digital Iceman...
fattieacid - 1/19/2013, 10:04 AM
oh man i wanna see a sentinel. those things are just awesome
Milling - 1/19/2013, 10:25 AM
as long as they don't bring emo rogue back, she should have her x-men tas outfit
DukeAcureds - 1/19/2013, 10:26 AM
Once Days of Future Past is over, I'm sure they'll set their sights on fixing absolutely everything. Including introducing a younger, jokey Iceman to the First Class team.
GetsugaTensho22 - 1/19/2013, 10:36 AM
OMG It's Jake!
They should totally remake Animorphs with modern technology, instead of the weird effects they used in the 90's.

Id love to see a full iced up Bobby one day again

but I think this sequel has to include KITTY and COLOSSUS in some form.

They deserve a place more than the rest, I think. FOX cant keep using the same mutants over and over again, if they want to really expand the universe, they need to give better roles to Kitty and Peter.
DrDoom - 1/19/2013, 10:39 AM
@gambgel

I've been waiting for Kitty and Colossus to get the spotlight ever since the X-Men movies were first released.
Taboggon - 1/19/2013, 10:43 AM
Please no more emo-Rogue,

and recasting for that character would be greatly appreciated.
ManofSteel22 - 1/19/2013, 12:08 PM
If he just happens to be in it I wana see him as the full body iceman
gambgel - 1/19/2013, 12:40 PM
@AcidicHeart

hopefully X3 isnt the last time we see him on the franchise
Shamo - 1/19/2013, 1:05 PM
wasn't a good bobby at all. he was the complete opposite of Bobby Drake. granted thats mostly the writers fault but still...
carrowsboy - 1/19/2013, 1:39 PM
Am I the only one who hates the idea of the Singer actors coming back & joining the First Class? I liked First Class just as much as X2 but they should exist in their own universes. This bloated cast will just mean less character development.
cdpacheco89 - 1/19/2013, 1:55 PM
@ carrowsboy i would have to say yes, you are, because in a tem movie like xmen you don't have much time for character development as it is as shown in first classthethey had to montage shove everybody's intro together and X3 was left with questions unanswred , people dead who shouldn't be dead and they nevet said first class was a reboot. They are plating this one by ear and its working. Everybody's all worked up over the title of this next one. Not to mention the source material and getting to the point with the sentinels instead of pussyfooting around it. This is a way to fix what X3 messed up and continue with a story we all actually want to see.
Nomis1800 - 1/19/2013, 2:18 PM
He has a tiny
kemuael - 1/19/2013, 3:11 PM
@ carrowsboy your the only one i believe lol
kemuael - 1/19/2013, 3:18 PM
full body iceman FOR THE WIN!!!!
marvel72 - 1/19/2013, 4:04 PM
would be nice to see iceman this time round & not just bobby drake looking iceman.

would be nice to see colossus return as well.
gambgel - 1/19/2013, 6:25 PM
but they can always improve the character. Same with the rest of the team
DCjohnny - 1/19/2013, 7:03 PM
if Hugh Jackman's wolverine is in avengers 2 ... it will be awesome... I want to see wolverine more than spiderman in avenger 2... I know there is a very very less chance for then to appear but don't u guys think it will be more awesome...
mgeoff88 - 1/19/2013, 9:30 PM
I don't want them throwing in too many characters in DOFP. It will be X-Men:TLS and XMO: Wolverine all over again if that happens.

I thought he was good, not great as Iceman. Other than the main X-Men, I want to see Nightcrawler and Colossus return.
Newbus - 1/20/2013, 12:54 AM
So basically he's not in DOFP.
XavierLehnsherr - 1/21/2013, 2:10 AM
Going back in time to change events is one way to fix continuity so the crybaby fanboys will finally have their pacifier.
