300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE Moved Off Warner Bros.' Release Schedule?

Despite being slated for a late summer debut, a fairly reliable site says that Warner Bros.' 300 sequel/prequel is no longer on the studio's schedule and will not be released on its original date. Hit the jump for more.

Despite undergoing production last summer and being slated for an August 2nd debut, news has been very quiet for Warner Bros.' upcoming sequel/prequel 300: Rise Of An Empire. We have yet to receive a trailer, let alone any posters or official stills from the movie, which is rather unusual for a follow-up to a very successful film for WB. A teaser was rumored to be attached to G.I. Joe: Retaliation (which hits March 29th), but that was never officially confirmed. Now, according to Stark Industries, the film is no longer set for an August 2nd release. If this is the case, then 300: Rise Of An Empire (which stars Rodrigo Santoro and Eva Green) will most likely be dated for a later release at some point. Are you disappointed at the possibility of seeing the film later than expected?

Ok. Sorry I liked the first but this sequal is an unnecessary cash in. Ill still see it... sometime, but theres no clamore to see another 300 movie.

How about not releasing it at all? I loved 300, I like Rodrigo Santoro and Eva Green as actors, but this? Well...no, thanks.

Maybe they figured out what we already knew: This isn't going to make any money. 300 did not need a sequel. It's okay to make a stand alone movie. They don't all have to be franchises.

i think the time for a sequel to 300 has come and go. It's been 7 years. at the height of 300's popularity they may have been able to spin this, but i think the audience is a bit "over it".

Sounds like this may end up straight to DVD or limited theatrical release. It'll probably be shit anyway, because, let's face it, 300 was nothing special, and all this film is doing is telling the other side of the story.

If find the lack of balls disturbing.

I would love to see this film, it's based on one of my favorite battles of all time and, considering how much money 300 did, with proper promotion it will probably make some good money. So why aren't they paying that much attention to this flick?

I thought we were going to be treated to a graphic novel first? Maybe I've missed it, or maybe we're all in for a wait for that as well. As long as its better than 'Holy Terror'!

I wasn't to thrilled about this movie to begin with. I'll definitely be seeing it but I'm in not hurry to see it.

If WB can move the third Hobbit movie back a few months,it shouldn't be a big deal if they do the same for the next 300 movie.They moved Jack The Giant Slayer back from June 2012 to March 2013 and Man of Steel from December 2012 to June 2013.This stuff happens all the time.

August is kind of a dead month anyway for event movies because audiences are burned out on end of the world stuff.Its a better time for summer comedies.Maybe WB wants the film to come out in spring 2014 since its 2014 slate hasn't been put together.

BOO! 300 is in my top 10 all time! Aaaahhh to live and die like a Spartan. MUCH better than getting some job and paying some bills.
