Jessica Chastain Reportedly Wanted To Play Jane In Warner Bros.' TARZAN Movie

Oscar nominated actress Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty) is reportedly the top choice to play Jane Porter in director David Yates' Tarzan film, which may star Alexander Skarsgard and Samuel L. Jackson.

It's been a while since there has been an update on Warner Bros.' upcoming reimagining of Tarzan, which will be directed by David Yates (Harry Potter). Last we heard, True Blood's Alexander Skarsgard was the frontrunner to play the titular character, while The Avengers' Samuel L. Jackson was being considered for the role of ex-mercenary George Washington Williams. However, neither actor has been officially confirmed for the film. Now, we may have our first candidate for the role of Jane Porter, Tarzan's love interest. According to NY Post, Jessica Chastain (who was recently nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for her critically acclaimed performance in Zero Dark Thirty) is said to be the top choice to play the character. No other mention is made of other potential candidates, but stay tuned to CBM for more news as we have it. Do you think Chastain would be a good choice to play Jane Porter? Below is a plot synopsis for Tarzan.

John Clayton III [is] known around the world as the famous "ape man" Tarzan. Years after he's re-assimilated into society, he's asked by Queen Victoria to investigate the goings-on in the Congo. Tarzan teams with an ex-mercenary named George Washington Williams to save the Congo from a fierce warlord who controls a massive diamond mine.

I could be down with another Tarzan movie. I don't think they've ever gotten it quite right. Greystoke came the closest though.

Isn't she kinda old for this role already? It'a shame that she got famous so late. :(

Loooove her acting abilities and appearance though, one of the greatest actresses of our time.

Someday maybe we'll get a faithful Tarzan movie. I don't think this will be it however. Out of all the great ERB books why Hollywood can't adapt one of those is a mystery to me. I'm not as concerned about the casting of Jane as I am that of Tarzan. We don't need a blonde Tarzan. He needs to be tall tan muscular with jet black hair. Joe Manganiello would be a good choice but perhaps a bit too old for possible sequels.Ideally this should be R rated but I'm sure it will be PG13. The inclusion of Samuel Jackson concerns me as well I love him in certain roles but he can be over the top sometimes.

I like everyone of those actors but Skarsgård doesnt really feel right as Tarzan.
I Henry Cavill is free i would go with him. He would be a real beast.

Joe Manganiello or Daniel Cudmore could be pretty badass too. Or Hugh Jackman.
