Carrie Fisher's Rep On Recent STAR WARS: EPISODE VII Comments: "She Was Joking"

Recent comments from Carrie Fisher seemed to suggest that she's locked down for a return as Princess Leia in the next Star Wars film, but a rep now says that she was merely joking and nothing is confirmed yet.

In a recent interview, Carrie Fisher - who played Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy - responded to a question asking if she'll be back for Disney's Episode VII with a simple "yes". Since then, many sites picked up on the story taking it as official confirmation that she'll be featured in the J.J. Abrams-directed epic. However, a rep for Fisher has told CNN that the actress was merely joking, and that she isn't signed up for a reprisal yet. "She was joking. Nothing has been announced." Guess we'll have to wait until a press release before we do have official confirmation on casting. But I think we can all agree that Fisher, Mark Hamill and/or Harrison Ford will be featured in Episode VII, right? Hamill recently stated that he and other original trilogy actors were discussing potential returns, but nothing was set in stone. Stay tuned to CBM for more news as we have it.

Star Wars: Episode VII is targeting a 2015 release. Michael Ardnt (Toy Story 3) is working on the script.

What kind of joke is that?
SuperDude001 - 3/6/2013, 2:41 PM
Yeah even though her reply was just 'yes', to me it sounded more like she was saying "yes I can answer your question" than "yes is the answer to your question".
DudeGuyMan - 3/6/2013, 2:41 PM
Ha ha ha! NOT FUNNY!
PsyBoy - 3/6/2013, 2:41 PM

SauronsBANE1 - 3/6/2013, 2:46 PM
Well after she said yes, she did go on to joke about how Leia would be old and in a retirement home and whatnot...not the brightest idea to proclaim that she was being 100% serious about simply answering "Yes" when asked point blank about Episode 7. From now on, let's wait for official press releases, shall we?

Definitely bi-polar. She's in/she's not, she's in/she's not.

Funny, I have 100 times more trust in an actor than in a "representative". Sounds like they want to keep it secret until they have them all.

We'll see how that goes, all we can do is wait I guess...
CapistheMan - 3/6/2013, 3:17 PM

Guys, if she says shes in before even being asked her asking price could go down.

But theres more Star Wars rumors on here than gossip in a fast food joint.

And most of its floated by Disney to try to make it a Hot Topic.

The funny thing about jokes on text is that you can neither hear the tone, nor see the expressions. So some moron is bound to take your words literally.
fettastic - 3/6/2013, 8:36 PM
She is 1000% in. "Yes" is not a joke. It's just that studios get pissed when actors make the news. That's what press releases are for and they don't want their thunder stolen.

How many times have we heard studios deny, deny, deny, only to announce exactly what they just denied in a press release 2 weeks later?
eldorado - 3/6/2013, 10:00 PM
Maybe another Bipolar maniac episode
NoAssemblyReqd - 3/6/2013, 10:11 PM
I have daily Google alerts set up for "Episode VII." This must be the 8 or 9th time I've seen a flurry of news stories show up in my inbox, only to be followed a day later by a bunch of "Oops!"

Well, at least if the negotiations for Episode 7 fall through Carrie can look forward to a long and successful career in stand-up comedy...
NathimusPrime - 3/7/2013, 9:24 AM
i dont get why people want them reprising there roles, personally, i dont want to see the characters i grew up on all old and fat. harrison ford was okay in crystal skull but that was pushing it, and i didnt really believe this old man could really do those things.
AUSSYACE - 3/8/2013, 11:15 PM
NOTHING A LITTLE CGI WON'T FIX...
