After completing The Dark Knight Trilogy last summer, Christopher Nolan will be tackling science fiction for his next project, Interstellar. According to Deadline, the acclaimed writer-director is courting Matthew McConaughey (recently seen in Magic Mike) to take on the male lead role in the Paramount/Warner Bros. co-production. The name of the character is Cooper, and there's no word on whether McConaughey will sign on yet. Interstellar, which has a release date of November 7th, 2014, was originally written by Chris' brother Jonah for Steven Spielberg (who was then attached to direct). The script was inspired by physicist Kip S. Thorne and his theory about wormholes and time travel. When Chris Nolan signed on to direct earlier this year, he also began writing his own script that merged with Jonah's. Interstellar follows "a heroic interstellar voyage to the farthest borders of our scientific understanding." Do you think Matthew McConaughey is a good choice to star?

Mandarins reaction: WOAH! I NEVERRRRRR SAWWWWW THAT COMINGGGGG!
Hellsing - 3/28/2013, 1:59 PM
McConaughey has been on a roll when it comes to good roles pretty damn good in Bernie and Killer Joe, from what I've heard about Magic Mike he kinda steals the movie(still haven't seen it probably never will I'm pretty insecure kinda guy)
JerBear - 3/28/2013, 2:04 PM
I was waiting for something like this to happen. lol. Christopher Nolan casts someone people generally don't like as an actor in the lead role of his film. If he gets cast I can't wait to see the reaction.
Hellsing - 3/28/2013, 2:08 PM
So people hated Guy Pierce when he was in memento(Nolans Best film). Hated Bale for Batman, and DiCaprio for Inception. Well thats the first time I've heard that but then again your not going to hear anything bad about nolan on this site its full of Nolanites.

LucasMend - 3/28/2013, 2:11 PM
And the rest of the cast will be TDKR people.
LucasMend - 3/28/2013, 2:11 PM
:P
RyanTcone - 3/28/2013, 2:11 PM
How long until Tom Hardy, Christian Bale and Joseph Gordon Levitt get cast in supporting roles?
Coolkid - 3/28/2013, 2:11 PM
Can't wait for this movie... Hope it'll top Inception...!!!
FrostyVoice - 3/28/2013, 2:12 PM
So long as we steer clear of the cheesy southern charm...unless the role calls for it...I'm intrigued.
MrCBM56 - 3/28/2013, 2:12 PM
He kinds of looks like christian bale.
Hellsing - 3/28/2013, 2:15 PM
Inceptions good but I want the Nolan who made Memento and Insomnia back, the one who didn't have these followers called the Nolanites. Those were good times. Cillain Murphy and Michael Caine are guaranteed to be in this movie.
batman1216 - 3/28/2013, 2:18 PM
@ Hellsing Oh please, Memento is one thing, but Insomnia was Nolan's weakest movie. All his other movies, including TDKR for the haters, are better. It was good, but not greta. Nolan has not made a bad movie yet.
Coolwhip - 3/28/2013, 2:21 PM
Hellsing is an idiot. Plain and simple.
Hellsing - 3/28/2013, 2:21 PM
@batman1216 wow with a name like that I am so [frick]ing surprised that you thing TDKR is better movie. You keep smoking that strong shit bro its doing some awesome shit to your brain.
CavEl - 3/28/2013, 2:21 PM
Pass.
Mystery - 3/28/2013, 2:22 PM
I like this, he was great in MUD. He played a very difficult character and played all the sides of him brilliantly
CavEl - 3/28/2013, 2:24 PM
Hellsing = Marvel Troll who wants to keep a dead war going.

Nolan isn't directing anymore DC movies, Marvel trolls, you're little war with the Nolanites is over. Troll Sony and Fox movies to get your properties back.
exe - 3/28/2013, 2:25 PM
Nolan has not made a bad movie. That is all.
Supes17 - 3/28/2013, 2:25 PM
Good Lord... You can't even mention the name Nolan without being pounced on by trolls like Hellsing lmao
Anton - 3/28/2013, 2:33 PM
McConaughey is [frick]ing amazing lately (Scorsese, Nichols, Soderbergh, Friedkin - he really knows how to pick up directors), can't wait to see him in this movie.
Anton - 3/28/2013, 2:36 PM
Still, I know nobody cares, 'cause it's been three [frick]ing years since it happened, but DiCaprio in Inception was a BIG miscast. I adore him as an actor, but neither he needed this movie, nor the movie needed him.
alecwright - 3/28/2013, 2:36 PM

I think what JerBear is saying is that people generally just don't like McConaughey, which doesn't make much sense either, imo.
alecwright - 3/28/2013, 2:38 PM
@Batman1216 Take your fanboy goggles off, man. TDKR is easily Nolan's worst film. Not saying it sucked, or anything. I mean I did like it, but IMHO it's the closest thing he's made to a 'bad' movie.
sephiroth211 - 3/28/2013, 2:42 PM
Only role i've ever liked this guy in.

Dude was sorta a badass.
alecwright - 3/28/2013, 2:43 PM
@Anton Couldn't agree more about Leo. Inception was GREAT, but Imagine someone like Daniel Craig, or Tom Cruise as Cobb. It would have been so much better, IMO.
Franshu - 3/28/2013, 2:43 PM
In general, I think of McConaughey as a "meh" actor. But this might be his chance to jump to the A list for a few years. I dont think he will let it pass.
third3ye - 3/28/2013, 2:45 PM
What's the O/U that he'll take his shirt off in Nolan's film?
AdamX - 3/28/2013, 2:47 PM
Jumping into the mouth of a dragon.... Beyond Bad ass!!!!
batman1216 - 3/28/2013, 2:48 PM
@Hellsing settle down with the attacks bro. It is genrally considered that TDKR is the better movie and that Insomnia is his weakest. You keep drinking the haterade bro.
alecwright - 3/28/2013, 2:51 PM
@batman1216 No, it isn't.
batman1216 - 3/28/2013, 3:00 PM
@alecwright yes it is... go to any movie review site and show me one where TDKR isn't ranked higher in both critical and audience consensus. Show me one and I will agree with you, even though it isn't true. Apparently your opinion is stronger then general consensus. Anyway this movie will be awesome. The end.
80sFace - 3/28/2013, 3:00 PM
But how will he have his shirt off if he's in outer space?
gambgel - 3/28/2013, 3:01 PM
unexpected choice. But nice to see Nolan working with different actors
AdamX - 3/28/2013, 3:01 PM

OdinsBeard - 3/28/2013, 3:08 PM
