Tom Cruise stars in Oblivion, an original and groundbreaking cinematic event from the director of TRON: Legacy and the producer of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. On a spectacular future Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, one man's confrontation with the past will lead him on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind.

Jack Harper is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack's mission is nearly complete.

Living in and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.

Oblivion stars Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Melissa Leo. The film is set to hit theaters April 19th.

I'm really looking forward to this, Cruise rarely disappoints, so I'm expecting something awesome.

Cruise is solid performer but gets hate for being a bit odd in real life..jumping up & down on couches on Oprah & being part of kooky "religion" based on science fiction writing.
Scientology is weird & Tom is its poster boy thus catches hell for it.
To each his own.

It was the Brooke Shields "anti-depressant" sh!te that stirred things and the couch jumping was merely a photo shoot for what the media had brewing. Luckily Tom is seemingly sincere; so sincere he'd jump on Oprah's couch if feeling great.., you know tapping emotions without the use of narcotics: acting, being an "actor on a morning talk show," etc. The moment he realized he crossed the line he apologized like a man.., or on this site, like a boss and continued on doing what is most important in this business: showing up on the first day giving your all, letting up only until principle photography has commenced.

Didn't see that Rock of Ages crap, but that had E! network calibre written all over that one; the names didn't even know why they were there. Hell Russell Brand, who you'd think would have had a "gay 'ol time" on that set.., looked lost. Hough, let me tell you.., she was amazing.., kidding. Oh yeah, back to Tom. He'd be a great Cable.., is a great actor and would I ever want to have a drink with him? Hell no. :-P Maybe if I had been in LA for a decade or more and had acclimated.., then sure, but I still got warm blood in my veins, surprisingly.

Yeah, this film looks incredible! The M83 score has only to disappoint.., at this point. I'm there opening weekend; this is something to see in IMAX. Hell even if the dialogue is Tron: Legacy bad, it's still worth it!

P.S. Tron: Legacy was a draft away from greatness.

Real quick. In defense of Maverick, Tom did go over to Brooke's front door "unannounced" to "apologize" to her from the most "sincere" region of his entity. :-P All that aside, he's a classic actor and I almost think of him as a true, good president. He's not trying to act like he's your best bud or like he's "got you dawg." He's on that level that accepts and knows how things truly work and is not trying to act on any of the redundantly obvious tracks of certain/many/all contemporaries. I mean come on.., he's failed at the other social political gymnastics. :-P Funny, Tom was a male cheerleader and gymnast.., hmmm.

The 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th pics from top: I have to see this crap in IMAX! Sorry I get a little "passionate" from time to time about big budget event sci fi! Real sci fi can never be compressed into 110 minutes(being generous) with today's mass audience. It could still happen, but the chances are getting fewer and further between.

A part of me wants M.Knight(trust me.., he's like the John Mayer of moviemaking at this point to me) to really pull a nuance with that Beiber.., I mean Will Smith's son's chance to work for a role.., to get it and execute something fresh. I'm hoping for a sci fi action film that Hitchcock(M.Knight's influence.., right.., fvck that handsome indian) may have directed if alive today.

Cue the bearded rhetoric that might even think of himself as a Galactus.., or call himself such(they're in every shop.., in every town), to tell me what sci fi is. Asimov? Gibson? That's more cyber punkish really, but we could go on and on for hours. Auger? familiar with his conceptions?
