More from Uma Thurman on Kill Bill: Vol. 3

Uma Thurman says that she only considers "worthy" movies and that Quentin Tarantino's planned third volume of Kill Bill would be just such a movie!
Filmmaker Quentin Tarantino's "muse," Uma Thurman, is choosier about the film roles she accepts these days because of the toll it takes on her family. In a recent interview, Thurman said:

"You feel much more conflicted. I think I really struggled with that conflict. Sort of like, 'What's worthy enough to interrupt my kid's life to take them on the road with me while I do a movie?' Now, I just try to balance it. I probably overthink things, but I try to do the right thing. I just do my best. Any working mother will tell you it's the same. I think every working mom is kind of a superhero. I think we all are."

When asked about the rumors that she might be reprising the role of The Bride in a third chapter in the Kill Bill saga, Thurman said:

"Quentin has talked to me about Kill Bill: Vol. 3 and shared some of his ideas. I think it's going to be awesome. It will be fun to get back into fighting mode even though I'm not much of a meanie. But I now have a physical confidence that I've probably never had in my life. You don't know what you would do until you're attacked. That's the truth. But I think conflict should be avoided. I think conflict is a loss. I totally feel that there is no winnable war."

im lost, how can there be a 3rd movie if she already killed bill?
LaffaTaffa - 10/26/2009, 11:33 AM
Kill Bill 3: The search for more money!

@Laffa, that question is mainly why i wont see it if it gets made
supermarioworldE - 10/26/2009, 11:33 AM
Quentin will no doubt bring it. Even his worst attempts are still pretty damn good, so I'm betting he at least has a decent premise planned. I remember the rumor being that it would entail Vivica Fox's daughter seeking revenge for her mother's death.
Velox - 10/26/2009, 11:36 AM
Another guy called Bill will piss her off. So she will have to kill him.

Ormaybe she's spending too much money on gas? She has to become more green, lower (or KILL) her gas BILL?

These are both totally plausable ideas.
invalensname - 10/26/2009, 11:36 AM
how can you make kill bill 3 when bill died in 2 ? make it: kill (name) vol 1,2,3,4,5.......
Denn1s - 10/26/2009, 11:47 AM
KILL BILLY!??
LEEE777 - 10/26/2009, 11:50 AM
Well, obviously Bill isn't going to be back as a zombie now is he? Its prob going to deal with the aftermath..and like Velox says, little Fox will grow up and seek revenge.

I think the Kill Bill movies are Tarantino's most entertaining by a mile. Some people don't like the slower moving 2nd part but its all one story to me, I loved it. So I'll see a third one no matter what the motivation for making it is, it will still be a damn site better than 90% of the Summer blockbusters we have had this year I'm sure.

Rorschach01 - 10/26/2009, 11:59 AM
I wanna see a third one, but how could they continue it.
Bandrews1 - 10/26/2009, 12:08 PM
I'd love to see a 3rd volume of Kill Bill, although maybe call it something different.

Because there are some loose ends that have to be tied up.
Like Vivica Fox's daughter. Also Elle never died on screen, sure she's missing both eyes, but maybe she'll mentor the little Fox. ALSO I don't think Sophie's dead either. The Bride left a lot've mangled people in her wake that may want revenge.

Maybe call this one "Kill Kiddo"

Lots've ways they could go on this one. :)
Runefyst - 10/26/2009, 12:14 PM
I haven't seen vol 1 and 2 are they any good? Are the movies comic book related?
Axl - 10/26/2009, 12:15 PM
ROR!!!! I like BILL as a ZOMBIE man!!

Good call! ; D

LEEE777 - 10/26/2009, 12:17 PM
@ Axl - They're very good, definitly on my top 10 fave movie list. A lot've people think the 2nd one is too slow, but I, like Rorschach01 think the whole movie is great.
Runefyst - 10/26/2009, 12:18 PM
It will be about the the little black girl getting revenge on the Bride for killing her mother. Maybe they'll call it Kill Bride or soemthing.
Juicerules - 10/26/2009, 12:20 PM
cool, thanks Runefyst. I'll check it out. Was Kill Bill ever a comic book? Just curious.
Axl - 10/26/2009, 12:20 PM
a sequel to Kill Bill would be odd for Tarantino. He's never done that before (KILL BILL IS ONE MOVIE).

But I have to admit it could be interesting. Kill the Bride - which is most likely going to be his working title - has the potential to be epic.

It'll be strange though having the revenge on the flipside since the first film wasn't that long ago. It's hard to feel sympathy for the characters the Bride wronged in the 1st film considering all that was done to her....
Keven - 10/26/2009, 12:20 PM
cool, thanks Runefyst. I'll check it out. Was Kill Bill ever a comic book? Just curious.
Axl - 10/26/2009, 12:20 PM
no winnable war? didnt we win WWI and WWII? did i miss something? pretty sure there were lots of other wars that were won too.
superdog - 10/26/2009, 12:26 PM
@superdog - I think she meant that 'nobody wins' in the sense that no matter what side you're on, you lose your life or the lives of loved ones. No winners. Just a bigger loser.
Runefyst - 10/26/2009, 12:33 PM

SirPrize - 10/26/2009, 12:33 PM
God, this movie is such a bad idea.
BmanHall - 10/26/2009, 12:37 PM
I dont think it will be called KILL BILL 3. rather it will either be "Beatrix Kiddo" or "Black Mamba"
WarNoodle - 10/26/2009, 12:40 PM
KILL PHIL.
Breasticles7 - 10/26/2009, 12:41 PM
Kill me...
BmanHall - 10/26/2009, 12:59 PM

teabag - 10/26/2009, 1:02 PM
Kill Jill, Kill Will, Kill Gill maybe? LOL!
Axl - 10/26/2009, 1:02 PM
You know in a way, it makes sense to keep the name the same. If it's the 3rd "Volume" then it's still within the same movie and just because Bill is dead before the end of the movie doesn't mean the name should be changed.

Julius Caesar died early on but they didn't change the name of the play in the following acts. :P
Runefyst - 10/26/2009, 1:04 PM
@ runefyst

thank you!!!

its been rumored since kill bill 2 came out that there would be a 3rd about vivica fox's daughter coming after uma thurman, and that it would be told through the daughter's eyes. so we might actually see the death of the kiddo, although i doubt it.
CorndogBurglar - 10/26/2009, 1:10 PM
@ Runefyst: It's just another example of somebody taking advantage of an already established franchise. You think they had planned for Kill Bill 3 before they made the first 2? Doubtful...
BmanHall - 10/26/2009, 1:13 PM
@BmanHall - True enough. It probably wasn't planned. But that doesn't mean it can't be a good movie. Another Kill Bill in Tarantino's hands gives me faith. :)
Runefyst - 10/26/2009, 1:15 PM
mmmmmmmmmmmm do we need another movie or not....

Im not sure yet :)
teabag - 10/26/2009, 1:24 PM
@ bmanhall

i remember hearing about this since the originals were out. and remember, they filmed the two movies as one movie, then later split it into 2. so you're probably right, it might not have been part of the original plan. but tarantino is still doing it with the same actors, so it shouldn't be a bad thing! and lets not forget, ALL movies are made for the money. movie making is a business like any other.
CorndogBurglar - 10/26/2009, 1:25 PM
@ bmanhall

also, its tarantino's movies. how is he taking advantage of a preexisting franchise?? its HIS franchise. lol. its not like FOX came around and decided to make a remake or something.
CorndogBurglar - 10/26/2009, 1:27 PM
Actually everybody...

What most of you fail to realize is that there is a lot of story to tell in the Kill Bill saga.

I loved both movies equally even though they are a high octane Tarrintino styled chick flick. But the films play out like a true live action anime. (learned that after watching the first film) The second movie is more on story.

Anyway, the elements of the third film would be...

1) B left Elle Driver (Darryl Hanna) in Bud's trailer for dead blind and alone with the Black Mamba. If you watch the credits and it shows the members of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad. It goes through each one individually

When it shows Orin Ishii (Lucy Lui) It marks her off in red like B did with her hit list.

When they show Vernita Green (Vivika Fox) its marks her off of the list.

Bud, marks him off the list (Because Elle killed him but nonetheless he is dead)

Bill, marks him off the list.

But then it gets to Elle (It leaves question mark)

Case in being, even though B left her for dead, she doesn't know. So there is still story tell and Elle could of very well survived the black mamba

So if they a Vol. 3-I expect to see Elle come back and fight B.

There is also the issue of Little Nikia (Vernita's daughter who watched B kill her mom right before her eyes) Remember what B said to her...

"It was never my intention to kill your mom in front of you and for that I apologize but believe me your mom had it coming. If your every still raw about it when your older, I'll be waiting."

So the focus of the movie could be where Nikki gets her training and works her way up to her revenge on B.

I also totally forgot about Sophie, she is still alive (thank you Bandrew)

Remember when B was in the hospital and was looking at her palms doing a palm reading on her self and all of the lines on it.

Then later on when Hitari Honzo's voice over dialog later when he uttered-"Revenge is never in a straight line, its like a forest that will make you lose your way")

It was a crooked line and like it was said earlier, B left a lot of loose ends in her wake and she didn't tie up.

Sophie, being a protege of Bill's would pick up where she left off, and I'm curious what she could do with just arm. Remember, B got the jump on her. If Sophie was ready for her who knows what would of happened. I don't think that Sophie would take that defeat lying down and she will be back.

There is the matter of Elle, blind and pissed, and with a renewed focus and obsession to finally being the one to kill her rival once and for all (hence the reason why she double crossed Bud because she wanted to be the one to kill B and not him)

Then there is Nikki, who I think will be the one to kill B but she will do it in front of BeBe forcing a final showdown between the daughters in a showdown of revenge.

So again, lots of story to tell.
EphPhaThaINC - 10/26/2009, 1:43 PM
so whats ephphathainc's post about? too long to read.
superdog - 10/26/2009, 1:53 PM
superdog @ pretty much the same thing I said, but more fleshed out.
Runefyst - 10/26/2009, 2:02 PM
He says the movie would have lots of material to work with, and he's right.

But I was under the impression that Kiddo went to work on Sophie's other limbs to get the info? She could just be a body and a head! They could fit her with mad prosthetic limbs that fire shit!
Rorschach01 - 10/26/2009, 2:04 PM
@ Ror - Haha, yeah, that'd be pretty cool! Sophie Fatale the cyborg!
Runefyst - 10/26/2009, 2:06 PM
Anything By Tarintino is worth seeing because hes the shit
MrAnonymous - 10/26/2009, 2:11 PM
would be awesome if it worked out !
FrankCastle1 - 10/26/2009, 2:19 PM
Elle coming back for the third would be a major reason for me to see this thing. Like Tarantino, I have a thing for blond Amazons.
Velox - 10/26/2009, 2:26 PM
TARINTINO-SMART STORY BASED VIOLENCE..COOL
GUNSMITH - 10/26/2009, 2:37 PM
I loved the first too. I'll give this one a chance.
DarthMulder - 10/26/2009, 2:45 PM
I love Tarontino but he missed the mark for me with these movies. I really liked the concept and wanted to love the films but by the second one I was as tired as I was when I watched the second LOTRs.
Betty - 10/26/2009, 3:07 PM
The animated part in the first one made me buy the DVD.

Betty - 10/27/2009, 2:21 PM
That one's for you, Betty!
BillyBlack - 10/27/2009, 2:40 PM
Actually Runefyst...

She only had the one arm taken off.

If you remember in the scene before. B drove in the car and tossed Sophie out of the car and she tumbled down the hill in front of the hospital entrance as hospital officials ran up to her.

If you remember, she still had both of her legs and her other arm as she tumbled down the hill.

Of course in the next scene when she was talking to Bill they only showed her from the shoulders up but being Tarrintino he doesn't need a lot lot of fancy camera shots to still tell the story of a scene.

More than likely, B tortured Sophie in other ways to get the information that she needed.

Torture is more psychological than physical anyway so more than likely she could just work on the one arm.

(Think Danny Glover's Detective Mertaugh in the first Lethal Weapon movie-they just beat him with their fist and poured salt in his wound, but the thing that almost did it was bringing in his daughter to watch them beat him down.)

Knowing Kiddo, she probably did more psychological than physical I think.
EphPhaThaINC - 10/27/2009, 5:13 PM
Tarrintino never went into much detail about Sophie and her backstory. All that we know is she is a former protege of Bill's. If you remember, B was also a protege of Bill's.

So one would think that Sophie wouldn't be a pupil of Bill's if she didn't know how to hold her own...including with Beatrix Kiddo.

As I said before, B did have to get the jump on her when Sophie went into the bathroom and and B I don't think intended to take Sophie hostage like she did. I think that it was a matter of simple luck and improvising on B's part in order to overall draw Orin out into the open.

I don't think that Sophie was more than just a simple personal assistant to Orin. I think that she did more than just talk on the cell phone and arrange stuff for Orin. I think that Sophie woman and she would survive the encounter with B and want revenge for herself and for what B did to Bill.

Also, Bill wasn't a tyrant, his codename in the Deadly Viper Assassination squad...if you remember...was "SNAKE CHARMER"

He wasn't a tyrant, and he wouldn't kill someone like Sophie because she failed and brought B to his doorstep. I'm thinking that Bill would of taken into account that B could of killed him and arranged for a successor...Sophie.

Besides, that is what he wanted. As he so put it, "He's a cold, murdering bastard, but one with a broken heart." And B did in fact break his heard. "He overreacted." (But nevertheless)
EphPhaThaINC - 10/27/2009, 5:28 PM
bill's dead...so is the actor who played him. who else is there to kill? bill clinton, bill gates, bill lambier?
