Indiana Jones 5 is a Go!

Harrison Ford confirms that a "germ of an idea" has been agreed upon for the next installment in the adventures of Indiana Jones!

Say what you will about Indiana Jones & the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but as a child of the 80's who lived on Indiana Jones and Star Wars movies I loved every minute of it, atomic bomb-proof refrigerator and poor Tarzan impression included!

So, it's with great excitement that I bring you the news today that Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Harrison Ford (wait your turn Shia LaBeouf) have come to an agreement about making a fifth Indiana Jones movie.

Ford told BBC:

"Steven and George and I are sort of agreed on a germ of an idea and we're seeing what comes of it.

"The process works like this: We come to some basic agreement and then George goes away for a long time and works on it.

"Then Steven and I get it in some form, some embryonic form.

"Then if we like it we start working with George on it and at some point down the line it's ready and we do it."

I know there are some vocal anti-Crystal Skull fans out there, but you're in the minority. Indiana Jones & The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull scored a respectable 77% on RottenTomatoes and grossed nearly $800 million at the worldwide box office.

This ain't Star Wars, where you have to complete a Saga. But maybe.....the Aliens from the last movie will come back with the Rebel-Forces, Luke and Leia to seek revenge. XD

What if the aging Indy finds it at the end of the movie and is de-aged to his 20's? That way, the franchise could continue the way J.J. Abrams rebooted Star Trek. Thoughts?

And remember that scene where Jones talks to a prairie dog (or something like that)? Raiders of the Lost Ark was a great movie. All the sequels are too focused on getting laughs, all the "grittiness" is gone. Does anyone agree?

How cool and epic would that be to have an old HAN SOLO up there on screen, even a solo (lol) movie!!! Chewies like Spock right, he don't age that fast? But think about it, HAN's and CHEWIES last adventure together!!! (Now thats a billion times better than any INDY 5 would be!) Yes, i'd like EPISODES 7 to 9 years later with an old JEDI KNIGHT called LUKE too!!! (Needs to be done like now!) These films would be beyond [frick]ing EPIC! Yep these films need to be done while everyones still with us, gold is not the word, nothing else would touch them! Begging to be made LUCAS! It was different to the others, yes but there are a lot of people who dont believe in religion (which the others were about) (except temple of doom) but still went and saw them. Going to see movies is also a personal choice so people should do their research in the future and decide on whether or not they want to see what the film is going to try and entertain them with. Indiana Jones is an IKON. An awesome one at that. I was hooked on these films when I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark and I will be one of the first to see the next one if they make it. Avatar was about aliens and it has already grossed more than 2.5 billion dollars so dont bag alien movies. Also Indiana Jones is fiction so anything goes in these films.

But, they're both George Lucas characters played by Harrison Ford, so that's kind of a pointless argument. However, for any Star Wars / Indiana Jones fans out there... There was a short story published by Dark Horse Comics where Indiana Jones meets Han Solo! I don't remember the issue, but something happens to the Falcon's hyperdrive and they end up crashing in "some jungle." Solo bites it and Chewie goes running off into the jungle, becoming the legendary Sasquatch. Indiana Jones happens upon the downed ship and...
	l0rdleg0las - 3/2/2010, 4:28 AM Login to report abuse the reason i hated Crystal Skull[frick] is because it didn't feel like an Indiana Jones movie. I mean since when does Indiana Jones have anything to do with aliens or anything of that type. Also as the movie progressed it just became more and more outrageous until by the end I was basically sitting in my seat thinking "Give me a break" and even the absolutely ridiculous part of him surviving a nuclear blast in a fridge was alright by me, it wasn't until the retarded Tarzan scene that I basically lost any interest in the movie and just came to the point where I was just watching to see how much worse it was going to get. Truthfully the best course of action with a 5th Indiana Jones movie would be to keep Lucas as far away from the story ideas and writing the script as humanly possible. Basically after Empire Strikes Back, he has been complete crap at writing for movies. Outside of Raiders of the Lost Ark, Last Crusade and Willow, he hasn't written anything worth a damn. and before someone throws Return of the Jedi at me, I say it was bad writing and forshadowed his eventual use of annoying pet-like sidekicks with the Ewoks.

I enjoyed it and thought it was nice for an exchange to see something out of the ordinary. But I think people just went in thinking that they wouldn't try anything new and just stick with some religion crap. Though I have to agree 12almonds. Raiders of the Lost Ark was far more gritty, the tone was changed and it became more common entertainment with the sequels. I guess that is why I don't understand people hate with Crystal Skull, compared to the two other sequels it wasn't really campy or unbelieveable.

XP @CorndogBurglar: Hey, I for one would love to see the guy stay young forever, but the reality of it is he might not even live long enough to make Indy 5. But, I do like the franchise, and as long as Spielberg is directing I could deal with a young Indy franchise (that's not the Young Indiana Jones).

Now, I'm not some bloodthirsty jerk, but when you take all the danger and sense of menace out of the story it just becomes some lame summer action movie. blech! ...and the aliens were out of the Jones Mythos enough to hurt the plot IMHO. The previous stories were all about terrestrial myth(part II included). Don't know why they didn't stick with that. Also..Old guys can rock...go watch Rooster Cogburn(hell, any John Wayne movie made after 1965). An old Indy could be a great movie, I just don't think Lucas has it in him anymore.

The whole aliens thing made alot more sense then people give it credit for. -It was the 50's aka the Golden Age of Science Fiction, and as such the possibility of hostile alien life forms was a legitimate fear amongst people. -People in America were all terrified about the Russians and their venture into space with Sputnik. And somehow this DOESN'T sound like a cool idea for an adventure movie? I thought it was great because it took a part of history that we'd otherwise find dull and mundane and made an adventure out of it! And who cares if he's old! Sean Connery was old! It's Ford's turn to be the dad!

	bsprecher - 3/2/2010, 6:11 AM Login to report abuse I admit that aliens seem out of place in an Indy movie, but consider: Raiders had a religious death-ray and ghosts that killed the Nazis at the end; Temple of Doom had some demonic heart-grabbing cult that brainwashed Indy; Crusade had an immortal knight. In light of all of those "fantastical" elements, aliens are not that out of place. And, MovieTheaterLad was the only one to correctly point out that Skull is an homage to the 50's, an era in which the "Red menace" was everywhere and Americans became fascinated by atomic energy and aliens.

Temple was about hinduism and Skull was about new age. That being said I just hope they return to the roots of the franchise and give us "REAL" stunts. I liked Skull but come on; a CGI car chase is just lazy. I still get chills when Indy goes under the truck in Raiders. Get Sean Connery out of retirement! I know they said he was dead. But if you remember all Indy said was he lost him. What if he is just presumed to be dead?

They SHOULD do it if you ask me, the audience is there, the money is there and it would probably knock Avatar off the map and make 3 Billion dollars, IF, IF, IF, IF it was done right and Larry Kasdan who helped make Empire and Jedi and someone else like Irvin Kershner directed it, then I'm in. If it's just George Lucas doing everything, then count me out. As far as Indy 5, hell yeah, let's see the fountain of youth story, just like Pirates of the Carribean 4.

Granted, it took me a few watches but it grows on you. Ford is like what mid 60s, I think it would be great for him to end his career doing one of his landmark characters. Now since time waits for no man they need to get this rolling ASAP..you never know what could happen. Yeah, he is old but remember he is Dad now so it is coming full circle with the Sean Connery character. That comic does sound cool..Han Solo meets Indiana Jones. I have to do this..Indiana Jones and the search for Metamucile.

I am not a fan of South Park, but I believe they said it best when they stated that Lucas and Spielberg GANG RAPED Indiana Jones! Did anybody see that episode? They had this whole scene from Deliverance with Spielberg and Lucas playing the rednecks. I would love to see another good Indie movie. Not another piece of shite that basically disgraces the character.
