Director Joe Johnston made an appearance on the floor of the San Diego Comic-Con yesterday to sign teaser posters for Captain America: The First Avenger and I managed to slip in a few questions about the movie. Read on...

Brent Sprecher: How's filming coming along?

Joe Johnston: Ah, we just started, but it's going great.

Brent Sprecher: Awesome. Was it hard to get away to come over here to do [the Con]?

Joe Johnston: Well, you know, they gave the crew a four-day weekend...everybody else gets four days off and we only get one.

Brent Sprecher: Are we going to get to see The Invaders?

Joe Johnston: Oh, yeah!

Brent Sprecher: Namor. Is he going to have little wings on his feet?

Joe Johnston: Ah, no.

Brent Sprecher: I'm really happy you're doing this movie.

Joe Johnston: Thank you. Thanks a lot.

Namor's going to be in it, so that makes me plenty happy enough! I can deal with no wings for both characters. Not a make or break issue for me.

well they could make namor go through some mutation around the foot LOL and the mutation will form a little something that looks like wings??? Namor is a mutant after all

@JerBear: Well, he doesn't specifically say that Namor is in the movie, so I didn't want to lead with a misleading headline. He admits The Invaders are in the movie, and Namor was an Invader, so...

Going by a literal reading of the quote, Namor may not even be in the movie. Could be. "Ah, no." could mean, "no wings." Or it could mean"no Namor" Or it could mean, "STFU fanboy, here's your freakin poster and quit asking me annoying questions...."

@wade- I'd go for someone with more of a swimmer's body.

Winged Namor feet is not a big deal for me. I always felt sorry for the guy when they drew him wearing boots.

@Bubba- You might be right, but if they're doing the Cosmic Cube, Namor isn't far beyond that realm of fantasy.

So Johnston practically confirmed Namor is in the movie!

If he wasnt in the film he would say that he isnt and not answer the questions about the wings on his feet.

I've been a HUGE Namor fan for ever and a day and I've never liked those damn little tweety bird feathers poppin out of his ankles.

Hell, as much as I love greek mythos, I cant stand to even see Hermes "Air Jordan Sandles".

wait Namor is in the movie? when was this originally announced? I didnt even know Marvel owned the rights to him. Oh and its cool about the wings, no wings in the Marvel movie universe please unless they are on Falcon's back

The wings were weird but they were part of what made the character unique.

@DannyRand401: That seems logical, but there was an issue (or two) where Namor had his wings ripped off and he couldn't fly, so I guess they are SUPER powerful little wings.

@Juggs- Namor's had a costume with boots before, which is what I think they would have in a movie instead of a man in a Speedo for the whole film. It they do that, you can imagine the wings. Win for everyone.
