Thor Roundtables: Chris Hemsworth on Thor

CBM's Brent Sprecher interviews the cast of Thor! In this segment, Chris Hemsworth discusses the fun of playing Thor, drawing inspiration from Buddha's journey, and how he "forgot" to take Mjolnir home!

Australian actor Chris Hemsworth seems comfortable in the role of the Norse God of Thunder in Thor, Marvel's next big comic book adaptation, saying that he had a lot of fun in the role despite the pressures upon him. In this semi-exclusive roundtable interview from the San Diego Comic-Con, Hemworth discusses how he almost lost the role to his younger brother, Liam, how he drew inspiration from Buddha's journey as chronicled in Herman Hesse's Siddhartha, how he is going to "sort out" who's tougher, him or Chris Evans after the interview, and how he "forgot" to take Mjolnir home with him after the shoot!

@Erickz:
A) All of the other video you've seen on CBM was posted by people who copied & embedded from other sites, whereas I shot the video & asked the questions.
B) Go ahead & try to find another video where he talks about getting inspiration from Buddha.
C) Go to Hel (as in Hela's domain).

Hemsworth would totally take Evans. Great interview. That one scene he described sounded exactly like the Ultimates.
Upupandaway - 7/29/2010, 9:35 PM
@Brent man you are such a lucky guy meeting all of these celebrities and getting to interview them. Big time props as always! I am so stoked for this film!
UnfriendlySpidey - 7/29/2010, 10:06 PM
Before comic con, this was the movie of the near future I was most looking forward to. Just to see how they tackled it. Now it's the movie I'm most looking forward to for it's shear awesomeness!

Brent Sprecher - 7/30/2010, 12:53 AM
No one asked yet, but the thumbnail is from a WETA Collectibles mock-up of Chris as Thor from before there were any images available of his look:

Brent Sprecher - 7/30/2010, 12:56 AM
Almost lost to Liam please! I know he's your brother but seriously he doesn't look like he has the chops
breakUbatman - 7/30/2010, 1:30 AM

Dr. Donald Draper - 7/30/2010, 5:15 AM
@Brent Sprecher : Great Job :)
Jojo Risin - 7/30/2010, 5:16 AM
@ Brent Sprecher: I like the tumbnail you used for the article. I think that's what Thor SHOULD have looked like...
BmanHall - 7/30/2010, 5:32 AM
Brent: thanks so much, man, for this interview. Do you get to ask any questions in this vid?

You guys must just have been in fanboy heaven for the past couple of weeks. Has Marvel given you any grief for the Thor clips that showed up on some threads?

And more than anything else, bro, just, thanks. Thanks for the website, and for all the news from you and Poni and Dogs and Ror and Josh and everyone else.

Just, thanks.

'Nuff Said, True Believers!

Next year, possibly???
bropous - 7/30/2010, 7:50 AM
ErickZ:

Blow it out of your proidigious arse.

If you don't appreciate Brent's efforts (and the efforts of ALL the CBM.commers who went to ComicCon and SHARED all of the events with ALL of us who could not go), then by golly jolly well then bugger off to hellokittytreasureislandmovies.com and I am SURE you will find something you consider "news" there!

Same old questions, my ass. You could TELL that Hemsworth wasn't just rattling off BS canned comments, the guy was extrapolating on his experience. Hell, I liked the questions, AND the comments given in return, IMMENSELY.

So. Maybe the next time you take a p!ss at someone who actually went out and did something you only DREAM about, you might just ask yourself: Could I have done a better job than the person I'm criticizing?

I already answered that question for myself. I am damn GLAD that Brent asked the questions he asked, and got us the info he got for us.

Perhaps you could go and do something constructive for society like juking yourself with a baby octopus whilst spewing upon yourself creamed corn.
bropous - 7/30/2010, 7:55 AM
@bropous: Thanks, holmes! Yeah,I asked Hems about getting his bro a part and about stealing the hammer.

And, thanks for knocking down that worthless little troll who likes to bitch and contributes absolutely nothing in return. I'm all for healthy criticism, but he obviously has no clue what he's talking about. He probably didn't even watch the video. I think he's one of my competitor's lap dogs, to tell you the truth.
Brent Sprecher - 7/30/2010, 8:47 AM
Smelled that out in about two secs, Brent. The jerk is an obvious shill from another site.

Thanks again man. I don't feel like I missed very much from ComicCon this year, because of ALL of you!

What an unbelievable time to be a comic book fan. If you would have told me in 2000 that we would be on THIS level with comic book movies ten years hence, I would have thought you were smoking something.

That Thor stuff STILL has my hair standing on end!

It really must have been an incredible thrill to just be able to stand there with CH and throw questions. And Jose Quesada didn't chew you out!

;- )
bropous - 7/30/2010, 9:14 AM
Joe Quesada isn't a part of much of the Marvel Studios stuff, from what I can see. I did see him at the EW/SyFy party and tried to talk to him, but he's always stuck up. Imagine, guys like Chris Hemsworth and Tom Jane are cool about talking to a "nobody," but Joe Quesada acts too good. Whatever, dude.
Brent Sprecher - 7/30/2010, 9:27 AM

Dr. Donald Draper - 7/30/2010, 9:34 AM
Fascinating!! Your sucha big-timer, Sprecher!

Dude seems like a cool guy! I love Aussies.

Siddhartha is a good book, but I really really don't see the connection. Thor is a warrior.

who the hell asked that question about Cap vs Thor? Lamers. That's like Bambi vs Godzilla

Juggernaut - 7/30/2010, 9:36 AM
@Juggernaut LMAO! it would be cool to see Caps sitting in a field of daisies and Thor's big boot come down and crush him!
HelaGood - 7/30/2010, 10:31 AM
yup lol
Juggernaut - 7/30/2010, 11:31 AM

Here is a Thor TV Spot

render - 7/30/2010, 11:54 AM
Thank you for the footage!
aFanGirlsGuide - 7/30/2010, 1:01 PM
I noticed in the trailer, the part where Thor is sitting my the fire holding the paper/book that has a picture of the circles...that looks like a sort of diagram of the Nine worlds. There are nine circles and they are connected by a sort of branch like tree system. He is probably trying to explain it all to Jane Foster.
