Vote here for the actor you want to see play Steve Rogers/Captain America in The First Avenger: Captain America! Is it Jason Lewis, Jensen Ackles, Brad Pitt, or some other actor? Make your voice heard!

@Gun: Brad Pitt looks like Steve, but he would be too old by the time Avengers 3 rolls around. Same with Jane: too old already.

I vote for Josh Hartnett. He's a tall, physical actor with decent acting chops, and he's young enough to stick around for a few sequels.

Thomas Jane is a good actor in his own right but HELL NO.i did like punish but because of the writing....travolta wasnt as sinister as i know he can be. (look at pelham 123) and they made thomas jane seem ridiculous

I saw Mr Brooks and didn't even realize he was in it! That's how good his performance was! Did he even have any dialogue?

Look, the bottom line is, it does not matter how well these guys look in a [frick]ing costume! It only matters that they can pull of the performance. Cap is a difficult character to play without coming across cheesy. Its gonna take some serious chops.

Well ive seen LEWIS act and ive seen ackles act, Ackles always plays the same person on all his roles, no way i want him as CAP, its like having TOM WELLING for CAP! LEWIS isn't a bad actor, an he has the UNKNOWN factor!!! ; )

But like ive said if they don't go with UNKNOWN, WORTHINGTON is the golden pick if MARVEL goes for a well known actor!!!

I can't vote for Jason Lewis cos I've never seen him in anything. I also think Jenson Ackles would be best suited as Hawkeye and not Cap.

While I do think Sam Worthington is a nice choice for Cap, I'd like to throw in another candidate no one's mentioned before:

Ryan Gosling.

Now, hear me out. The guy can act. He's got that all-American look about him and he's not too big a star for Marvel to NOT afford him. He's also relatively young so fits in the age-range Marvel are looking for in Cap. That's why I think Gosling would be awesome!

I dont think Hartnett is bad, but i dunno..dont really see him as Cap either. I have no clue who i would like to see by the way! I would love to see Aaron Eckhart but i realize hes a tad too old. Pitt would have worked a few years ago too...Worthington looks too..rough round the edges, hes not right for Cap, plus he can;t even keep his Aussie accent from coming through! As much as i like Dicaprio, his head is shaped like a strawberry.

Look at CHRISTOPHER REEVE people and JACKMAN (yes i know about origins but he is the perfect Wolverine), Both UNKNOWNS, BOTH Perfect! ; )

Even WORTHINGTON as now isn't huge which is good!

HARNETT would bring quality to the role and would be pretty good, not a bad pick at all! ECKHART @ Not really, great actor but the CHIN gives him away, you can see he's BATMAN straight away in TDK when he puts on the mask! CAP wouldn't need a mask with that chin lol! Though he'd make a good RED SKULL, even though i like DANIEL DAY LEWIS!

If we're going a real young guy id go with Channing Tatum. (he has the all american country boy look)

why are so many so high on Worthington? he was the best thing in Terminator Salvation, but that movie sucked so bad that he didn't really have a huge hurdle to get over to be the best part of that movie.

also, with Captain America, he is the ONE superhero getting the big screen treatment that NEEDS to be played by an american.

i don't want another Ozmandias debacle where some foreigner is dragging down the movie because he can't do a proper accent

LEE: yeah, ive been busy with my fan cast! i started it a few months back but could never be bothered to finish it so just used my coices for the smaller casts i did! still, im just putting the finishing touches to it now!! im on 192 and im aiming for 200! and im not trying to outdo you man, its you who inspired me to finish it!!!

Well, I think we all know who my choice for Captain America is...JENSEN ACKLES of course!!! He was born to play Cap - his character on Supernatural pretty much IS Cap anyway! Just take away the cocky part of 'Dean Winchester' and there you have it! Besides that, he is a great actor and as I've said numerous times before would nail the role!

If this one does well, I'll do more. The idea is that I'll try to get to the winner's agent to see what the actor thinks of being picked by us, the fans, if we get a sufficient number of votes to make it worth their while.

Out of the 2 above I would definitely go with Ackles. But... otherwise I don't know. We need someone who can pull off the "never give-up" feeling that Cap has. If an actor can pull off that, then chose that actor.

sam worthington will be in everything by the time this is ready and i'm already tired of hearing his name. would be nice for a somewhat unknown to take this role and make it his own. better then one of these actors of the month they throw in everything. hell if thats the case just let johnny depp or christian bale play cap they are in everything else.

hell af a debate. I don't understand why thomas jane isn't in the front running for this part. I think that he's perfect for it. he's got the look, obviously, and defenitly more acting ability and expeience then ackles or lewis. personally, i also believe that he has the charisma to fully pull off the "leader" role for the avengers film. he might seem a little old, but it's not like he's fifty. he just has a war vetern "look" about him that makes him appear older.

i understand that some people might not agree with the choice, but i feel that he's still gotta be a front-runner for the "fan voted" role anyway. hell, he'd be twenty times better than dicaprio.

Let keep in mind that the character also has to play Steve Rogers, and as things go the secret identity gets more screen time then then the costumed hero.

Hence my vote goes to Brad Pitt as Steve Rogers/Captain America

With Robert Downey and the others talking about "taking risks" I think that he is the type of thing they were talking about, putting acting first- taking a guy who really makes a good idealistic young guy, and turning him into a soldier. I could see it.
