CBM Fight Club RULES!!!

-NOT A POPULARITY CONTEST. In choosing a winner base your vote on the most iconic interpretation of the character. The comment section is a great place for you to present why you think that character would win the fight.

-The fights does not need to be deathmatches, incapacitating the other character can be considered a win.

-Lopsided matches may occur (which also happens regularly in the comics and movies) but before you write out the "weaker" character try to think of possible ways this character can beat the more "powerful" opponent. Again the comment section will be helpful in this.

-Eligible fighters are characters who have both been given life in comics AND movies.

1st. Jeez idk. Either one couldnt keep the other down for long but if feel Ghost Rider has more offensive tools.

2nd. WW :( She is just on a different level.

3rd. With Prep time Im givin it to Batman. He could get Mr. Freezes ice gun and immobilizes Creed.

Ghost Rider vs Swamp Thing: I'd give this one to GR. Swamp Thing's an elemental and requires earthen material for a body, but I think GR's supernatural hellfire could burn up any body that ST created from accumulated muck. This would probably be a lengthy fight but once ST ran out of swamp material to construct a body out of...

Spider-Man vs Wonder Woman: Spider-Man. He's taken on tougher and walked away smiling. Juggernaut, Hulk, Thing, Firelord, Titania, Absorbing Man...with his speed, agility and spider-sense he'd have no problem staying out of her reach, and while he's nowhere near as strong, he is strong enough that his blows would have a cumulative effect. I see this one as the quintessential Spidey "stinging blur" beat-down, where he hops around his opponent like a lightning fast flea, punching/kicking/jabbing until they crumble from the onslaught. That's how he beat most of the characters I mention above, and it's how he'd beat WW. Spidey by KO.

Batman vs Sabretooth: Finally, a fight Batman actually DESERVES the vote on. Sabretooth may have claws and a healing factor, but contrary to popular opinion he's not super-strong. He's as strong as a man of his height, weight and build who exercises intensely, but he is definitely not super-strong, and Bats has plenty of gadgets designed to incapacitate stronger people than Sabretooth. I doubt Bats would even have to throw a punch on this one.

He could also call his friend Superman given prep time. The pretzel logic is amazing here.

LoudLon, my logic exactly concerning Spiderman. I posted basically the same scenario on the voting result page. You must be a cool guy, because cool guys think alike! And I'm a cool guy :-)

Wonder Woman destroys, read her bio. It might be a "close match" if written but with her speed and strength, as well as her combat skills no way Spiderman takes it.

@Loudlon, I don't know where you get your information, but Spidey hasn't taken on tougher. WW is the second most powerful hero on Earth in the DC. Also, she can think, move and react at hypersonic speeds, and even the Flash has said she can match up with him in terms of speed at times. So really, Spidey has no chance as fast as she is AND as powerful. Add in that Diana has a healing factor and Spidey is all but done. Why don't you read up a little on both characters before stating one would win due to speed when the other is actually faster.

SpideyQuad
SpideyQuad - 5/3/2012, 11:40 AM
Well it doesn't help that DC has changed her and other characters like 5 times since I've been reading comics. It's pretty hard to keep track just what her powers are. In the 70s she didn't have any. Why don't you read up on our entire history. She never was in Superman's class until George Perez re-created her.

Several come here all indignant … Punk

These battles should take place with the thought of the most current version of the character.

LoudLon

@PieEyedPiper -- Hulk's not tougher than WW? Juggernaut's not tougher? I don't know since when WW is capable of hypersonic speed or is the second most powerful hero in the DC universe (more powerful than Martian Manhunter? Flash? Aquaman while in the water?). But even if she were, Spidey's taken out an entire team of X-Men at once, the whole FF at once...while WW has her hands full just with Batman, of all people. C'mon, man -- Spidey'll probably break every bone in his hands on her, but he could definitely take her down.

Ok -- I've got a bit of a mini-rant. Bear with me...

My problem with DC characters is that their power sets are ridiculously inconsistent depending on the writer. It's like Superman; when he first hit the scene, he was immensely strong and could leap 1/8 of a mile. By the 80s he was bench pressing planets. I mention this because of what PieEyed said about Wonder Woman; she's always been tough, but it seems now she's Superman with a vagina. I've been reading comics for over 30 years and can't say I ever remember her being capable of hypersonic speed and thought and all that hooplah. The WW I'm familiar with is roughly 2/3 as strong as Supes, is an experienced combatant, can deflect bullets with her wrist bands and has the speed, reflexes and agility of an Olympic athlete. She's not bulletproof, can't breath in outer space, can't shrug off nuclear missiles and certainly can't move faster than the human eye.

So really I blame the writers. Some show Lobo to be as strong as Superman, while others have him at human-level strength. Some writers have Flash capable of moving so fast he can travel through time, while others have him just barely able to outrun a bullet. Some writers have Aquaman bullet proof and capable of lifting immense weights on land, while others have him as barely above human on land. WHERE's THE CONSISTENCY, DC WRITERS???

And we wonder why there are so many disagreements in Fight Club when it comes to DC characters... If we were being completely fair, we'd have to aim for the middle every time a DC character made an appearance, halfway between the weakest that character's been shown to be and the most powerful. It's not an exact science, but again, if we're being fair...

End of mini-rant.

GHOSTRIDER- interesting battle, but fire usually wins over plants

WONDER WOMAN- i love this fight! everybody has good points. spidey is more agile, the speed question is up in the air, but WW can stick with superman, so spidey doesnt match up to that. would love to see it tho!

BATMAN- i still say knock out gas on the likes of sabretooth and wolverine.
gravedigger9906
gravedigger9906 - 5/3/2012, 4:19 PM
good point loudlon. i love dc characters but that does create confusion. i do like what one poster said in going with the most recent version, but then they should stick with that.
RAZE
RAZE - 5/3/2012, 5:37 PM
@Loudlon
Agreed. I read mostly Marvel so I often read the bios of many DC characters to vote accurately and so of the advancement alot of the JLA characters over the years is mind blowing. Going off the transitional version of WW i was going to say Spidey but then I read her bio and was like DANG, nevermind. lol

@gravedigger
I like the idea of going with the standard, most familiar version of the character. Regular Thor not Rune King Thor, regular Spiderman not Captain Universe Spidey, but thats just me. BTW i like ur Pokemon logic for the Ghostrider vs ST battle, i was gonna say the same.
PieEyedPiper
PieEyedPiper - 5/3/2012, 5:38 PM
First of all, I never said WW was the 2nd most powerful character in the DC Universe, I said 2nd most powerful on EARTH. Next to Superman.

Second, it even says it at the top, these battles will be based on the most ICONIC interpretation of the character. So since I am an avid reader of DC comics, she IS as powerful as I mentioned.

@Loudlon, I would EASILY say she could take out Juggernaut. The Hulk is different, because he even gives Thor problems, and while I put WW on a level with Thor (despite popular belief), I think Hulk would be a drawn out fight that would end in a draw.
PieEyedPiper
PieEyedPiper - 5/3/2012, 5:44 PM
I agree that power levels of different heroes is up in the air as well. But, DC isn't the only one that does it, Marvel will vary depending on writers as well, maybe just not as drastic as DC.

Maybe the way these fights should go is how they were depicted in the movies that they were in? I know guys like Atom, Doc Strange, Cap Marvel and some others that their live action was based in the 70's or before would be handicapped, but it's better than arguing over which version of the character is actually fighting.

I also don't agree with going halfway between a characters weakest point and strongest point, because that will greatly hurt most of DC's characters. You have to remember, when a lot of DC's characters were created, comics were brand new, so these ultra level powers that come with Thor, Silver Surfer, Hulk and X-Men wouldn't come around for another 30 years. To weaken DC's characters just because they were around 30 years earlier, would be unfair.

If it comes to it, I would either say we should use the character depicted in the live action show, or use the MOST recent version of that character in comics. Just most ICONIC doesn't really change much, because each person depending on their involvement in that comic would have a different idea of which version they think is Iconic to them.
PieEyedPiper
PieEyedPiper - 5/3/2012, 5:49 PM
@SpideyQuad, WW didn't have any powers then because she gave them up to remain in "Man's World." That doesn't mean she didn't have any to begin with. That would be like me saying, "Silver Surfer changes too much, at one time before Galactus came, HE didn't even have any powers, so why don't we use THAT version of the character, derrdummbduhdumb?" Pole smoker.

@ LoudLon, sabertooth can lift a couple tons. He would rip bats in half.

@PieEyed -- perhaps you should familiarize yourself with the defintion of "iconic." Here's a hint: it doesn't mean "personal favorite version." ;)
