Ridley Scott, director of "Alien" and "Blade Runner," returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

It seems that the definite reaction to Scott's film Prometheus has been met with mixed reception...but really the main complaint so far was that there were many questions left unanswered, when ironically, the film was meant to answer questions. But as it seems, this is really a film where you will have to decide for yourself on rather you'd view it again or not. Some people felt really disappointed at the final act of the film, and that seemed to be the killer there. But whatever the case, it is reported to be a good film, so be sure to check it out if you're looking for a good sci-fi flick. Furthermore, Two new stills showcasing the 'Engineer' from the film have found their way online. Check them out below:

Thanks to AVPGalaxy for the production stills

Prometheus Stars Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Logan-Marshall green, Idris Elba, Guy Pierce, and is directed by Ridley Scott(Alien, Blade Runner). The film is now in theaters.

The Engineer's were [frick]ing badass!
CoolantTech - 6/11/2012, 4:29 PM
the answer was "Our own demise"
jimoakley666 - 6/11/2012, 4:41 PM
The cool thing about the Engineers is they were played by real people under a tonne of prosthetic make-up. Not CGI creations. Although, they may have had a few digital tweaks.

Amazing scene.

I don't understand why people want answers to everything. I would hate if this movie answered things. I want to see a movie that gives more stuff for us to think about and to build upon. The mistery MUST be kept and enlarged.
WolvieCBM - 6/11/2012, 4:54 PM
PatientZero: You got it all wrong dude. Prometheus takes place on LV-223 (moon), while that Space Jockey (Engineer) in Alien was found on LV-426. Two different planets, in the same solar system. Prometheus is not a direct prequel, it's set in that world, but it's a different story. That xenomorph-like creature was just a nod for the fans. We don't know what happened to the Engineer in Alien just yet.
Ironnick - 6/11/2012, 4:55 PM
@PatientZero- That's where a sequal comes into play, because david had said that there were many other ships on the planet.
WolvieCBM - 6/11/2012, 5:12 PM
PatientZero: No problem. Glad you liked it.
ruben - 6/11/2012, 5:50 PM
When i saw the Engineer's all i could think is Dragon ball z! but they did look badass
Amazo - 6/12/2012, 1:38 AM
@PatientZero
It takes place on a different world to Alien.That's why it doesn't connect properly.A friend pointed it out to me yesterday.Otherwise the whole Engineer installation and the wreckage of the Prometheus would have been present when the Nostromo arrived etc.Plus they are even designated differently.Alien=LV 426,Prometheus=LV 223.
Amazo - 6/12/2012, 1:41 AM
Haha just noticed that Wolvie got in first :)
Hardshaw - 6/12/2012, 1:52 AM
@wolvie and Amazo it still doesn't explain the distress beacon the Nostromo receives in Alien that Ripley runs through the computer to find that it's actually a warning..maybe the warning that Noomi repace Sends at the end of the movie, could Weyland Yutani have reclassified the planet as LV 426 to hide its history? Could another engineer stumble upon the crashed life boat finding a mature queen and her eggs- gets a facehugger- impregnated - tries to fly away- chest burster -crashes on Lv426 the life cycle of the Alien begins again by another queen etc..still doesn't explain the distress beacon?!? See too many questions..we need a sequel..NOW!

If that's what you see then it says more about you then it does the Engineer design.
jimoakley666 - 6/12/2012, 2:33 AM
With their skin looking as it does and their features as they are, they obviously designed the Engineers to look like the ancient marble statues of Greece and Italy.

Check out these statues of Zeus...

Re. LV426 I think the ship that takes off at the end is the one on LV426,the 'homeworld' is probably just the last place they visited or something.
It crashes and shit happens.They were other Space Jockeys in the room asleep only one woke up so they probably perk up and it kicks off,black goo everywhere.
Danbojohnj - 6/12/2012, 2:47 AM
ignore last sentence,not had my coffee yet,differnt ship but who knows whats on it?
Unionjack - 6/12/2012, 3:35 AM
I have to say i was extremely disappointed with this film and thought it was a massive let down.

I didnlt like the look of the engineers, they reminded me of the creatures from I am Legend, mixed from the robot face from I Robot!!
WpX - 6/12/2012, 4:40 AM
definitely intended the engineers to look like antique deities
DocDeath - 6/12/2012, 6:28 AM
That was so funny - red letter media , the other guy just sits there
Pumchavas28 - 6/12/2012, 6:41 AM
Keep in mind that that was NOT the 1st Alien. That was a different kind. Nothing more. That huge octopus thing was a mutated face hugger.

Prometheus is tied into all the Alien movies just like AVP is, keep in mind that both AVP movies & even the Predator movies all happen during present day time frame

Prometheus is just a prequel to the first Aliens movie but is not an origins movie for the Alien spieces. The humans are in search of their origins though, but just because you are looking for something doesnt mean you will find what you are looking for. Also if you pay attention to the time line, after both AVP movies, W&Y experience or new found knowledge of both the Alien & Predator species are why he was willing to fund the expedition. He knew there was more out there, he just didn't know where to start looking until the scientists found the cave drawings & told him where they could start.

Looking at the chronological order of things...

* Predator - 1987
* Predator 2 - 1997 (Skull of Xeno seen & 1st time in human history a human had seen it.)
* AVP - 2004
* AVP Requium - 2004
* Predators - Present day (2010/2011)
* Prometheus - 2089
* Alien - 2122
* Aliens - 2179
* Alien 3 - 2179
* Alien Ressurection - 2356

All 3 inteligent species (Engineers, Xeno, & Predators) have been around a LONG time before humans, obviously..

My new question is do the engineers know about the Predators? Did they create the Predator race also? Do they want to kill the Human race in fear that the Human race is becoming like the Predator race which has become uncontrolable for the engineers if they did create them too? Do the Predators hunt the Engineers also, like they seem to do with virtually every other species they come in contact with?
CrashTest - 6/12/2012, 7:07 AM
Love the film! It did leave allot of question but they were all good question in my view. Loved the look of the Engineers and the Big ass Face hugger was the shit!

One thing that did get me was towards the end of the second act, when our hero beats up two people to get free and do surgery on her self. She never really answered for it, and nether did they for trying to restrain her. It felt like a lot was cut out.

Last was in act three, when the ship was falling. Come on, who in the hell is going to run in the shadow of the ship? If anythings is falling natural survival should kick in and tell you to get the hell out of the shadow and run to the damn left or right.

But over all, great film!
elessarundomiel2382 - 6/12/2012, 7:19 AM
@Pumchavas28 what do you mean "Predators - present day"???? you already mentioned Predator 1 & 2....is there a third no one knows about??? So is it possible that in the hologram the engineers are running away from a Predator/s???
MoonDoggyX - 6/12/2012, 7:58 AM
@elessarundomiel2382 and CrashTest - The movie does not explain anything. So they could be running from Decepticons as far as we know. lol...

Seeing at it was written by one of the writers from "Lost", our lack of any and all answers might actually be on purpose. That would be fine and dandy if this was a TV show and we only had to wait til next week, or 3 months for the next season, for answers. But even if its fasttracked, we are 2 years away from a sequel to Prometheus.
Boogie138 - 6/12/2012, 8:03 AM
i love the look of the engineers
PirateOpossum - 6/12/2012, 8:10 AM
They look like the statues of the ancient Greek Gods. I think that is on purpose. ... seriously ... Like living white statues.. right?
MoonDoggyX - 6/12/2012, 8:15 AM
I thought the engineers looked amazing, by the way! I actually found myself rooting for him to win against the (somehow)huge face-sucker!

I appreciated this movie for what it was, well until the third act, but was anyone else as surprised as me at how bad the actual "science" aspect of this movie was...?
AGENTJAY1130 - 6/12/2012, 8:15 AM
THIS WAS A GOOD MOVIE!!!
Greengo - 6/12/2012, 8:16 AM
CRACKA ASS CRACKA!!!
Acerimmer1 - 6/12/2012, 8:42 AM
I don't think the movie really didn't raise any new questions that weren't present at the start of the movie. Except why do they want to destroy us and thats not a very interesting question for me.

Also maybe engineers on their home planet don't know we haven't been killed. Going to the home planet to ask why is like reminding them to kill us. Nobody would be that stupid.

SpiderFan35 - 6/12/2012, 9:02 AM
@Owlman, lmao!

That pretty much sums up how pointless it is discussing this movie. I exhausted myself yesterday trying to get answers and I give up.

It's just LOST all over again. Lindelof strikes again.
Pumchavas28 - 6/12/2012, 10:22 AM
@ elessarundomiel2382 - When I refer to "Predators - Present Day" I am refering to the movie that just recently came out that took place on an alien world where some of earth's deadliest people were abudcted & dropped into a planet that was used as a game preserve.

That movie could have stood alone, but they reference the 1st Predator movie in there when the female sniper talks about Arnold's battle with the 1st the first Predator.

That movie is titled "PREDATORS" & came out 2 years ago.

SuperFrost - 6/12/2012, 1:32 PM
this was based on a true story.....
Pumchavas28 - 6/12/2012, 4:45 PM
I wonder if the Engineers want to kill the humans because the Predators in the year 2996 BC show humans how t build pyramids & are worshiped as gods... Then starting 100 years later they start using humans to create Xenomorphs for sport ever 10 years.

Seeing this the Engineers could be upset with their creation being subjected to this & feel it is better to wipe them out than allow the Predators to continue breeding Xenomorphs through Human sacrifice.
Rowsdower - 6/12/2012, 8:27 PM
Ugh! They turned the space jockey into a sexy manikin!

Looks like a cross between the stupid robots from I Robot and the And 1 logo guy.

Hitboyj - 6/13/2012, 7:02 AM
@TelaVizion true man my solution: The BIble !!
emeraldtaurus - 6/13/2012, 5:07 PM
The alien that came outta the Engineer towards the end was not the first xenomorph! , it was some kind of variation alien Scott "threw in" to give the film a vague connection between it and 1st ALIEN movie. you'll see in the room with the giant head ther's a xenomorph stone carving on the wall which , like the facility itself, is 2000 years old pre-dating all the alien/predator/cross overs. The Engineers are paying homage to their greatest biological creation or as ASH put it in the first film "it's a perfect living organism"

My guess is the engineers/holograms were running away because a face-hugger got loose from an egg on another ship and turned on one of the Engineers , they panicked and fled, so did the engineer who was "face -hugged", he tried to bale back to the home world hoping he could be saved . He was wrong ! didn't make it very far and as chest bursted he crash landed on neighbouring planetoid LV426. explains why derelict and pilot from first fill was so old.
Narcus - 6/14/2012, 1:44 PM
They are the Annunaki hehe..
Zuriel - 6/15/2012, 12:36 AM
I've read all of this and emeraldtaurus has finally gotten it right. The engineer and derelict ship on LV-426 was probably attempting to escape whatever incident happened on LV-223 millenniums ago. It's chest burster was the first queen xenomorph who laid eggs in a cavern bellow the ship for the crew of the Nostromos to find. I think after the whole operation scene in Prometheus we all have to agree that Elizabeth Shaw is a bad ass. I want to know more about her continuing adventures with David's head.
emeraldtaurus - 6/15/2012, 1:27 PM
cheers for the compliment Zuriel but you've missed my point ! , there's no "first xenomorph/ queen invloved, they were created long ago. The eggs on the LV-426 derelict are cargo stored in the belly of the ship, how else would u explain the blue fog which was keeping them preserved. Obviously there are different ships for different purposes. Its kinda like the u.s. navy doing there thing out in the ocean, no matter what's goin down there's always a ship near by carrying nukes ! I reakon one of the engineers got careless and disturbed one of the eggs, before ye know it he was impreg'ed , once the others got wind of it ............they bailed!
Pumchavas28 - 6/15/2012, 4:43 PM
@ emeraldtaurus, that is a very sound theory. Hope you don't mind but I'll be adding that to my argument with others in regards to the movie. Well done!
emeraldtaurus - 6/16/2012, 8:59 AM
don't mind at all Pumchavas28, if you've seen Ridley Scott's interviews since the movie was released u can clearly tell they left alot out on purpose. Several times in the interviews he talks about how the writer suggested this and that, Scott replied with "we'll keep that for the next one". Also Scott says the dvd release will be at least 20 mins longer with other individual deleted scenes u can view in the menus. think it will explain the story alot better.
