Talking to MTV about the obvious differences between the campy Stallone version of Judge Dredd and the upcoming reboot, a question was asked regarding what he would think of Stallone's opinion of Dredd. Karl simply replied: "I don't give a damn about what he thinks."

yeah sucks about a person as you can see rich or poor there still people and have feelings must be horrible that his son is dead and that the expebdables is near
Anthrax - 7/13/2012, 9:05 PM
ego is getting too big
gastitdk - 7/13/2012, 9:15 PM
Maybe he doesn't knows Sage Stallone died.
JatevinM - 7/13/2012, 9:16 PM
Wait him saying he doesnt care about Stallones opinion on Dredd isn't rude, ass holish, or letting the fame get to him. The man is saying he isn't going to let Stallones thoughts about it determine how he feels about his work. Stallones son being dead has nothing to do with this.
Vadakin - 7/13/2012, 9:17 PM
My guess is that he didn't know. He's there to promote something so he's kind of in a bubble where it's all panels and interviews and he likely wasn't online or able to check out the news.
Anthrax - 7/13/2012, 9:17 PM
it was at comic con news that son is deas came out no but really ego
ckal - 7/13/2012, 9:21 PM
Son dying aside, how can you be upset at Urban, and call him the one with the big ego, when Stallone is in the same conversation?

Stallone is the one who recently said CBMs are the reason why there's no good action movies anymore or something like that.
Anthrax - 7/13/2012, 9:23 PM
@nightdrive lol that would have been really [frick]ed up
CoolantTech - 7/13/2012, 9:26 PM
com'on im sure he didn't know.
Moakynubs - 7/13/2012, 9:30 PM
At least he's making it his own. I don't see this as "I don't like him" I see it as "This is MY movie, and I'm not going to try to please any expectations or pay any previous effort to make a movie like this." That's the mentality people need to have with reboots. They need to make it their own instead of trying to live up to what came before.
Netman0007 - 7/13/2012, 9:31 PM
WOW
Netman0007 - 7/13/2012, 9:32 PM
Just thinking...and not too hard on it...but umm....anyone else see Karl Urban as Green Lantern?
imnotahero - 7/13/2012, 9:33 PM
Did you guys watch the video? His comment isn't mean spirited. And it certainly has nothing to do with Sly's son. Karl is rightfully talking trash about Sly's version of 'Judge Dredd' in the same way that it would be completely fine for Christian Bale to take the piss out of 'Batman and Robin'.
Anthrax - 7/13/2012, 9:34 PM
@netman kyle rayner
KingEmperor - 7/13/2012, 9:35 PM
Wow. Worst timing for that comment.
HarryBloodscreaming - 7/13/2012, 9:37 PM
Obviously he didn't know about the son's death, geniuses. What the hell is the matter with people?

He was getting behind his movie (and answering a stupid question)with a bit of harmless trash-talk. It's not unheard of.

You can bet Stallone, a tireless self-promoter and showman himself, is not even thinking about Urban's comment at this time, and likely wouldn't take it personally if he was aware of it, grieving or not.

Anyone who is reading some sort of ego trip or callous taunt to a bereaved man in this is tragically shit-witted.
jjmeylar - 7/13/2012, 9:40 PM
@HarryBloodscreaming: I completely agree! Plus: why WOULD he care? Sly probably won't like it, because he'll think that his was perfect. It's like how Mr. T hated the "A-Team" film because it had sex and killing.
soaponapope - 7/13/2012, 9:48 PM
really just [frick]ing silly. even remotely suggesting that karl urban was in any way at all expressing insensitivity to stallone's personal problems is just stupid. he was asked if he cares if stallone doesn't like their version of Dredd, and he said he doesn't. the most you can accuse him of doing is speaking frankly, and if that's what now constitutes a break in etiquette then christopher hitchens was right when he said that civility is overrated, and that's after affording the e-mobs with internet pitchforks a level of generosity by granting that urban was being uncivilized.

basically, if you think he was in any way making any comment about anything other than stallone's opinion of their movie, then perhaps it's time to put down the rolled bill and rethink the scholarly benefits of cocaine.
Ranger14 - 7/13/2012, 9:57 PM
I didn't even know Sly's son died, but there is a way of tactfully answering the question and being respectful and answering in the way he did. All he had to say is that it doesn't make any difference to him what Stallone thinks. Instead he has to be cocky/assholish/funny/or whatever you want to call it.
Vital - 7/13/2012, 10:12 PM
I had no idea Stallone's son died either. News to me. Karl Urban is cool though, I like his honesty.
Deadshot - 7/13/2012, 10:14 PM
"Son dying aside, how can you be upset at Urban, and call him the one with the big ego, when Stallone is in the same conversation? Stallone is the one who recently said CBMs are the reason why there's no good action movies anymore or something like that."

Um Stallone's [frick]ing right, Hollywood has zero faith in action movies anymore, instead they'll spend tens of millions making movies starring third rate superheros with supermodel boy faced actors. And yeah "I don't give a damn about what he thinks" is a pretty shitty thing to say about someone whose son died just hours before.
geeekgod - 7/13/2012, 10:19 PM
this has nothing to do with sly's son dying. he was asked a question about the movie. he probably doesn't know what happened to sage stallone
geeekgod - 7/13/2012, 10:21 PM
have we all become too oversensitive?
eleven59 - 7/13/2012, 10:25 PM
Well at least stallone's version wasn't in 3d... ;)

Tajin88 - 7/13/2012, 10:30 PM
Grif says "Shit movie, [frick]ing sucks, bring on the reboot or better, let it go.

This guy is sooo arrogant and a piece of shit and his movie will suck, hopefully.
Tajin88 - 7/13/2012, 10:32 PM
Oh and he looks damn ugly.
SuspenseSmith - 7/13/2012, 10:37 PM
I didn't know Stallone's son died until I started reading the comments here.

I'm pretty sure Karl Urban isn't keeping too many tabs on Stallone, probably trying to avoid the subject altogether. Hence he doesn't give a damn meaning he doesn't let the past film dictate is role.

A true reboot. That's all this means.
Roscoe182 - 7/13/2012, 11:07 PM
anyone actually care .. though not
chuskito - 7/13/2012, 11:10 PM
I didn't know Stallone's son died until I read the comments, and even before that happened I was kind of turned off by Urban's attitude and comments.
Anthrax - 7/13/2012, 11:16 PM
true he couldnt have answered a diffrent way just came off way too agressive
Danbojohnj - 7/13/2012, 11:31 PM
Guess he didn't know about Slys son(sad news) I only just found out......
SFCamerica - 7/13/2012, 11:49 PM
Believe it or not Stallone is married to my second cousin, Jennifer Flavin, and the couple times I've met with them they've both were very cool. It is a tragedy what happened to his son (no relation to Sage), but I think perhaps Karl got tired of answering the question. Honestly, why would he care what Sly thinks?
Cross - 7/14/2012, 12:22 AM
what a piece of shit. [frick] you urban and your piece of shit direct to dvd looking film. I'm not a fan of stallon's dredd but that doesn't mean he not good. He is one of the pioneers of action genre. And then there is this [frick] who haven't done shit besides playing supporting roles. Show some respect.
MasterApoc81 - 7/14/2012, 12:23 AM
HOW DOES KARL SAYING HE DOESNT CARE WHAT HE THINKS OF THE FILM .....HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH SLY'S PERSONAL LIFE ???? I LOVE IT HOW PEOPLE TAKE SOMETHING AND RUN WITH IT ..JUST TO START SHIT ......THE JOURNALIST DID ASK IF HE THOUGHT SLY WOULD APPROVE...THAT KINDA SET KARL UP TO RESPOND ....NOW IF HE WAS REPRISING A ROLE SLY CREATED LIKE RAMBO....ROCKY....THEN I WOULD HOPE HIS ANSWER WOULD BE DIFF....BUT OTHER THAN THAT ..HE IS JUST SAYING THEY ARENT TRYING TO BE FAMILY FRIENDLY WITH THIS ONE .....SO KNOCK IT OFF U SHIT STARTS GO BACK TO YOUR SELF ABSORBED SOAP OPERA DRAMA SESSIONS........ plus u dont even know ..if he knew about slys situation....i like the fact that he is standing up on his own two feet about backing what he did with confidence ...and i dont think he is a ass whole..neither should yall....dont yall got some facebooking to do and gossip bout people behind their backs there ?? this is cbms ....not soap net lmao!
jimoakley666 - 7/14/2012, 12:30 AM
Why SHOULD he give a damn? It's got [frick] all to do with Stallone. Family tragedy or not.
dracula - 7/14/2012, 12:33 AM
[frick] CARL URBAN STALLONES SON JUST DIED AND HES TALKING SHIT HE WILL NEVER BE AS GOOD OF AN ACTOR AS STALLONE
JatevinM - 7/14/2012, 12:54 AM
I'm wondering why Stallones Son is even being brought up in this conversation considering it has nothing to do with it. Urban hasn't said a word about Stallones kid
nikgrid - 7/14/2012, 1:03 AM
You guys are cocks...he probably didn't know about Stallones kid, I didnt know until I saw this article.
loki668 - 7/14/2012, 1:04 AM
I love how most people in this thread are saying that Urban was rude because Stallone's kid just died. How does that have anything to do with it? He was asked a question and he responded. Neither of their children have anything to do with it. This is just some Stallone fans digging up reasons to be butthurt.

Lord Loki has spoken
BenRielly - 7/14/2012, 1:07 AM
Stallone already said he disapproved of the reboot so this was just Urban's way of firing back i doubt that he probably knew that the guy's son is dead

Sheeesh I just found that out a few mins ago myself. You all need to get the sand out your vaginas

ratthawks - 7/14/2012, 1:54 AM
@dracula - Urban not a better actor than Stallone, now I know you really are a troll.

Urban comment was just, Stallone has already said he wasn't interested in Dredd and Urban just said he didn't care what Stallone thinks. I would have gone the same way.
Sparrowsabre7 - 7/14/2012, 2:19 AM
I think it's fair that he doesn't care what Stallone think, but he could've phrased it more diplomatically. Like "I think our interpretation is different so I'm not really bothered"
INSTANTJUSTICE - 7/14/2012, 2:26 AM
I think the fact that the interviewer asked him the question about Stallone indicates that even the interviewer didn't know about his son's death, which of course is because this interview was conducted BEFORE the death was reported.
INSTANTJUSTICE - 7/14/2012, 2:32 AM
@ratthawks

Let's face it, Stallone's not much of an actor. His roles and range are almost as limited as Arnie's.
comics2film - 7/14/2012, 2:44 AM
Yeah agreed instantjustice. if the interviewer knew his son died he wouldn't of asked the question. All these righteous douche on here jumping the gun. C'mon. No one's that much of an asshole except chris brown. Seriously guys read between the lines.
weaponx123 - 7/14/2012, 2:49 AM
He is gonna be such a kick ass Judge Dredd!
Nubase - 7/14/2012, 3:02 AM
my word, this video was done way before the death of sage stallone, some peeps here are so pathetic!

As for the movie Dredd, if the guy who created the character gave it the thumbs up then thats all l need to know and it was the creator of dredd who said at cannes movie festival where the movie was shown said that stallones dredd was crap.

Nubase - 7/14/2012, 3:04 AM
it should be WesleyGibson who posted this you guys who got tears in your eyes should be asking as to why he put it up in the light what has recently happened not urban!
Magpie100 - 7/14/2012, 3:07 AM
@INSTANTJUSTICE

Thank you! I was logging on to make the same comment.

why would the interviewer even ask the question?
siggisuperman - 7/14/2012, 3:16 AM
Well maybe he decided he's tired of all the old hollywood tough guys like Stallone talking shit about comicbookmovies and decided if they can act tough every single interview, then so can he. He just said he doesn't care what Sly thinks of the movie. Why would he ? Sly did a million movies like this and I have no doubt that Karl Urban cares more about Dredd, and Dredd fans than Sly does.
