It was heavily rumored that one of the secret reasons for the re-shoot of Jon Chu's upcoming sequel was to add more Channing Tatum (Duke) into the film. Producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura has confirmed that the cause for re-shoots was NOT because of to want to add more Tatum into the fray. "That is a complete rumor. I don’t know where that started. Literally, Channing shot for – if I have it wrong, I’m off by an hour – four hours, five hours? So it wasn't really about that at all." When asked about the specifics of the cut he simply said: "It’s not much different. Literally, we shot for three extra days. We just added sort of explanation in what we did afterwards." Leave your thoughts below in the usual place. The film is set to hit theaters in March.

Just don't kill Duke .
CharlesLord - 1/12/2013, 5:52 PM
that means he still dies right?
2gold - 1/12/2013, 5:56 PM
No, a bomb blows up his head and he slips into a coma. Then Rock confirms he's fine.
animeex - 1/12/2013, 6:00 PM
He has to live or it sucks. I just am worried the way this is looking that it is going to just be a Rock and Willis movie with a guest appearance by Snake Eyes.
jessepostal - 1/12/2013, 6:08 PM
@animeex, from what im told by friends that have seen it,is that is divided nicely. I don't wanna ruin anything but Snake eyes def gets his screen time
Fredperri - 1/12/2013, 6:08 PM
i agree with @animeex, he has to live. i want to see a 3rd one with duke & flint bickering with each other. i hope flint isnt lik a cameo thing!

i'm worried dukes role in this will be as much as cyclops in all 3 x-men movies
HavocPrime - 1/12/2013, 6:25 PM
Lost all interest in this with the date push back
animeex - 1/12/2013, 6:25 PM
Jessepostal thanks very much. Makes me feel a bit better. I also agree with you Fredperri... I love Wolverine but they needed more Cyke.
thalidomide - 1/12/2013, 6:30 PM
He's dead!
DocHorrible - 1/12/2013, 6:30 PM
Shouldn't it say "initial," not "additional" release?
Darkhaven - 1/12/2013, 6:33 PM
G.I. Joe Retaliation's initial release date was sandwiched between:
-The Avengers
-Madagasgar 3
-Men in Black 3
-Prometheus
-The Amazing Spider-Man
-Ice Age
-The Dark Knight Rises

Every one of those flicks made well over the half billion dollar mark or more. 2012 was literally one of the best summers for movies in ages. GI Joe was pushed back because they didn't want to get roflstomped at the box office like Battleship did.
darkjoker1 - 1/12/2013, 6:36 PM
ahhhh -_- just kill duke aready i hate channing tatum....
Pox - 1/12/2013, 6:43 PM
Snake insta-javelin to the chest...slips into "coma"...Doc radios in and says he's fine everyone collectively YO JOE's and the credits roll.

oh wait...wrong movie...
DrainBamage - 1/12/2013, 6:58 PM
I think it kind of sucks that the film will focus primarily on Roadblock or Heavy Duty...whoever the hell The Rock is playing. The animated series and comics usually had Duke, Flint, Hawk or Sgt. Slaughter in the lead.
CharlesLord - 1/12/2013, 7:01 PM
@darkhaven lmfaooooooo roflstomped
AshleyWilliams - 1/12/2013, 7:02 PM
Tatum was great in 21 Jump St.
ahhmynuts - 1/12/2013, 7:04 PM
i bet duke didnt die. i bet the joe's think he died(dont find his body) in that scene in the trailer but he just got kidnapped. wont be revealed until the end of the movie that hes being brain washed or some crazy thing.
SuperDude001 - 1/12/2013, 7:35 PM
Wait, so for some 3D and three days of re-shoots they delayed the movie by like a year? It musn't take that long surely?
WYLEEJAY - 1/12/2013, 8:02 PM
@animeex. I dont know they said in a previous interview there would be lots of ninjas. Would hate it if snake eyes was left out.
HarrisonBergeron - 1/12/2013, 8:47 PM
I can see why they would want to re-shoot so that Duke lives. This movie is WAY better than the first, kind of a soft reboot even. It could make for a continued franchise. Having the main character die at the beginning of a potential franchise doesn't work.

I think the movie probably started as a short term money grab, then they realized that they might have made a long term cash cow out of it, so they fixed things.

SPOILER-
Snake Eyes has a major role in the movie. The major subplot is about the rift between Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. It is explained and rectified.

WYLEEJAY - 1/12/2013, 8:55 PM
@harrisonbergeron. Thats good to know, snake eyes is one of my all time favorites. I hope your right about duke too. Just no more brendan frasier cameos please!
HarrisonBergeron - 1/12/2013, 9:24 PM
Clarification: I can see reshooting so that Duke is not dead(missing, in a coma, something) but they definitely should not change any of the story to add more Duke. I loved the first cut.
AUSSYACE - 1/12/2013, 9:27 PM
I cannot wait to see this film as the action looks really cool...
m0th3r - 1/12/2013, 10:14 PM
this is so funny because the first one was such a piece of shit and everyone knows it. It had a few redeemable moments, but over all a turd circus..The delays, the leaks, the story, and the trail all indicate this will suck. Just kill that douche-bag, finish the franchise and put this POS to bed. They did so much damage out of the gate its not fixable...
Happy11 - 1/12/2013, 10:50 PM
I've heard he's only in about 15-20mins of the film.
Egg - 1/12/2013, 11:09 PM
Are they gonna have a PSA at the end?? AKA "Now I know. And knowing is half the battle! GI JOOOOEEEEE!"
If they don't...well....shit movie.
Egg - 1/12/2013, 11:16 PM
lightningfilms - 1/12/2013, 11:29 PM
This movie is Still going to Suck. Duke killed or not. But i agree, Duke is Basically the Main GI JOE. dont kill him off.
mgeoff88 - 1/13/2013, 12:25 AM
My interest for this movie just went back up a little bit.
GLprime2814 - 1/13/2013, 1:54 AM
I thought the whole point for the push back was that people got pissed that duke dies early.
ironspider12 - 1/13/2013, 2:45 AM
wait, people are actually into the story of these movies?
1RoninAmongBitches - 1/13/2013, 3:11 AM
@ ironspider12

F.U.C.K. YOU BITCH!
InfiniteMonkey - 1/13/2013, 3:46 AM
I wanna see Tunnel Rat.
LEEE777 - 1/13/2013, 4:14 AM
Just more COBRA please and NINJAS!!! :p

COBRA was a joke in the first movie, cept STORM SHADOW and loved ZARTAN!
Fredperri - 1/13/2013, 4:40 AM
well this kinda hints from tatum that he didnt want to do it

NoAssemblyReqd - 1/13/2013, 6:27 AM
This is eerily similar to the animated GIJOE: The Movie. Duke was struck by a (rather bloody) snake to the heart. The scene was re-looped to have someone say "He's slipped into a coma" when he died. Then, during the finale, they add "Duke's gonna be okay!"
siggisuperman - 1/13/2013, 10:01 AM
I think @Darkhaven has it absolutely right. It's was a business call probably and they thought "[frick] it we'll postpone it until the competition is a little easier and then we can shoot that lame extra scene you wanted"
Minghagz - 1/13/2013, 11:42 AM
Duke is a great character but Channing Tatum ruined that character. So I hope they kill him off.

@Channing Tatum
